"Well what do you want me to do, Derek?!" She yelled, taking a step closer. "Go out and get a job?! Hand over the Alpha title to you?! Throw everyone out apart from you and your precious slaves? Because fuck having the kind of pack mom had, the kind of family she gave us, so long as you're sleeping with her killer's family and keeping away from the world! What do you want me to do?!"
She didn't want him cashing in the insurance properties. It's why she never questioned where the money was coming from - because deep down she knew. She felt her chest tightening, feeling the guilt. She did nothing but let her brother down. Nothing but let her mother down. If she could see her now, she was sure she'd disown her before the title could ever be passed to her.
She should've been in that fire.
"It shouldn't be just my personal vendetta - mom wouldn't have stood for it either. It should be your vendetta, too." Her voice was quieter, and she shook her head. "Just... have your child. Have your traitor of a slave. I'm done, Der." She threw her hands up in surrender, closing her eyes - even if it was too late, the tears already falling. "I'm just... done." She'd go to her room, and pack, and wake Alice up. It was what was best for everyone.
