"The fact that she's Kate Argent's niece is the exact reason why she isn't perfectly capable of taking care of children." Laura kept her voice as calm as she could, but she could tell from the flash of her brother's eyes that the calm approach wouldn't work for long. "I don't think you'd endanger a child, but if I'm concerned for the safety of the pack, then I have every right to bring it up with you. I deal with them too, don't act as though I simply ignore them all the time." She shook her head, clenching her hands into fists, before relaxing again.
"Besides..." She paused, trying to find the words, already knowing the reaction they'd get. "The plan was to keep her here, keep her happy, until Kate came to rescue her. People know she's here, she was seen out with you a few weeks ago, and still she isn't coming - clearly she isn't going to take the bait. Perhaps it's time to return her to the auction house - it'll make things easier for you, among other things."
