Derek flipped a page in the notebook, studying the project's timeline with a frown as the veins in his arms began to turn black, drawing pain and discomfort from the blond. He wouldn't be able to explain how it was that werewolves were able to do this, how their touch could bring relief to humans and animals. There were theories, about the evolutionary purpose. Some people believed it to be a sign that werewolves and humans were symbiotic species, designed biologically to depend on the other.
Maybe they were. Or maybe it was just coincidence.
In either case, Derek was happy to bring the slave some measure of relief, no matter how temporary it might be.
