Chatting with myself... Who: Lily and Lexine Where: The library When: Jan 21st (after this What: A little conspiracy...
Lily went through the stacks looking for that book Severus had mentioned. Something about wizarding schools was the title, but that wouldn't be good enough to find it. She rifled through her bag looking for the scrap of parchment she had written the title on for a minute, and then finally came back with it. "Aha!" One of these days, she'd clean out her bag of all the unnecessary junk.
Lexine was walking through the library when she saw the slip of paper Lily was so triumphantly holding up. It must be very important, so she looked over to see what it said. An Appraisal of Magical Education in Europe. Hm, not that exciting. Unless... Lexine had found it strange that Dumbledore hadn't revealed where the new students were from. Then again, would Lily be interested in that? She was a prefect, very unlikely to be interested in spying. Plus, she had expressed being tired of hearing about the new students at the beginning, but she did say that she would wait until she met them. And now, she had.
"Are you trying to find out where the plague village is?"
Lily jumped at hearing a voice. Then, after realizing what the girl had asked, she wondered if she should tell her the truth. How did she figure it out, anyway? Lily could be looking for anything. But the plague students were on everyone's mind, it wouldn't be too unusual. "Um, yeah, actually. Have you found anything out?"
Lexine smiled. "Who says I've been looking?" But she lowered her voice and added. "But no, I haven't. Isn't that strange? I've looked through all the papers and not a single mention."
"It is. I thought maybe at least I could rule out some possibilities if I looked in this book. There must be some reason we haven't been told." Lily took the book off of the shelf and quickly thumbed through the pages. This should do.
Lexine thought hard for a moment and then took the adjacent book, on a similar subject. "Why don't you tell me what's in that book and I'll tell you what's in this one?"
Lily was sort of taken aback by the sudden offer of conspiracy. She hadn't really thought of letting in much more than her closest confidants in on her suspicions, but this wasn't exactly letting the girl in on everything - just that she was looking for the school. One task shouldn't be that much of a giveaway, and she'd since this girl around (mostly during her rounds - she did tend to buck the curfew regulations). "Um, well, that could be useful. What's your name again?"
"Lexine McLean. 4th year. And I know you are Lily Evans, so you don't have to say."
"Ok, Lexine! I'll contact you by Legens, or you can do the same." Lily brightened, as the both turned to walk away.
