Who: Cameron and Open
Where: park
When: September 29, afternoon
What: ditching school and hanging out
Status/Rating: Incomplete/PG

Cameron had gone home early from magic school, only he didn't head home. He walked over to a local park then sat under a tree with more shade than all the others. He knew that eventually his parents would grow tired of him always coming home after dark but until then he was going spend some time with the ones he really got a long with. He could already see some stray animals headed his way. He knew that it had to be his powers that always seem to attract his lonely, furry friends but he didn't mind. Hello he said as one of the dogs put it's head under his arm. Sorry I didn't bring any treats this time. Although it never seemed to matter if he did or not.

He looked up and saw some students from his old school staring at him. He quickly looked to the ground, hoping that they wouldn't notice him and he was lucky they didn't. He knew the stray dogs had already noticed how tense he got and if they had walked over the animals might have felt threatened then attacked. Always thinking I can't handle myself, don't ya? he asked with a smile.

Danica got out of work early. It was a pleasant change since she had a lot she had to do. She had put off looking for her parents and focused more on living in the moment by enjoying her stay as San Francisco as much as she could. After work she decided to go for a walk. She had been doing research at Magic School for the past few weeks, but didn't find any useful information. She frowned because she was sure she would find something, perhaps she would need to narrow her search, but she didn't know how to do that yet. She hoped that would change soon.

As she walked through the park she noticed a few people walking around, nothing out of the ordinary. Then she noticed a guy sitting under a tree. He stood out because he was attracting stray animals. She smiled and decided to walk over towards him. Danica loved animals. One of the dogs turned towards her when he heard her coming. "Hey," she said as she pet a small, black dog. She kneeled down causing the small dog to put both of his paws on her thighs and wag his tail.

Cameron didn't see her as she approached where he was sitting. Although the dogs seemed to notice right away. At first he didn't move to look in the direction that had peaked the dog's interest. Thinking that it was just someone that would be walking by. Making the person unimportant. But then he heard the girl's voice. Then he leaned over to so she could see him. "Usually that one doesn't like anyone," he said as another dog laid it's head on Cam's lap. "Guess you're special." Be nice he told all the other dogs. He knew them too well not to say anything.

Danica smiled at Cameron and said, "I wouldn't call myself special. I just love animals. I'm pretty sure animals can tell which people are animal lovers from those that aren't. I think people don't give animals enough credit sometimes." She sat on the ground and this caused the small, black dog to sit down next to her. She giggled when she noticed and said to the dog, "You're such a cutie." In this moment she wasn't thinking about her woes. She was extremely content. That was one of the reason she loved animals. They had a way of cheering you up that couldn't be described or even compared to anything else. It was wonderful.

She looked back at Cameron and said, "If I'm special then you're special too. All these animals seem to love you."

He put his hand on one of the dogs back, petting it as the other dogs just laid down or went into a sitting position. He knew that some were a little jealous that he wasn't paying them attention. But he only had two hands. He could really pet them all at the same time. "I'm sure they do," he smiled. "If people only knew what went though their dog's mind." He was sure that some people would freak out if they heard what their pets thought of them. "They just like me cause I bring them hot dogs twice a week." Which he did. He couldn't stand that no one was caring for these dogs.

"I'm Cameron," he said as he extended his hand to her.

Danica smiled. She was glad to have met someone so nice and pleasant. She was so caught up in her own little world that she didn't meet new people very often. It's not that she didn't want to meet new people. It was that she didn't try to meet new people. She took Cameron's extended hand then shook it. "It's nice to meet you Cameron. I'm Danica. I haven't been living in San Francisco for long so I just recently discovered this park."

She looked around and continued to pet the dog in the process. She made a mental note to herself to take walks more often. "You're very nice Cameron. Do you know that? I don't think most people would feed stray dogs. Unfortunately most people don't really care about anything or anyone outside themselves, but there are a few people who do. I'm sure the dogs appreciate the food," she told Cameron simply.
