Summary: The day was somewhat humid for a near-desert area, but the skies remained clear save some cirrus clouds whispering across the sky.
Hey, we can't stop the rain,
Let's find a place by the fire.
Sometimes I feel, strange as it seems,
You've been in my dreams all my life.
-Roxette
The day was somewhat humid for a near-desert area, but the skies remained clear save some cirrus clouds whispering across the sky. Some darker clouds threatened in the distance, but they both thought those wouldn't swoop in until much later, so Edward and Riza thought that a date to the park to play with Hayate and generally enjoy the warm weather and each other's company would still be fine.
He started their date the way he started all their dates: with a gift. This time he brought her white carnations.
"Edward, you don't have to keep bringing me flowers," she said gently as she trimmed the stems over the sink. "Get down that vase for me from the top cupboard, please?"
He grinned. "I want to," he said, having to all but climb on the counter to get into the cupboard and get the vase. "Why do you keep your flower vases so damn high up?"
"Oh, I'm sorry," she said, taking the vase and filling it with water. "You're taller than me now, so I forget you can't reach that any better than I can."
"Still doesn't explain why you keep them up there where you can't get to them without a step ladder." He sounded slightly grumpy. Riza was just as glad that's all he was, considering how he still was when Roy teased him.
"Until we started dating, I didn't get many flowers, so there wasn't a point in having them in easy reach," Riza explained, arranging the flowers in the vase.
Edward settled himself into a chair at the kitchen table. "You could move them now."
"I will eventually."
He snorted. "Eventually."
She smiled back at him, setting the vase on the table. "Eventually," she said. "Should I get Hayate's leash now?" The dog in question heard the word 'leash' and immediately got excited, wiggling his rear in anticipation.
"Yeah, we can-" Edward was interrupted by a bright flash of light from the window, followed quickly by a low, grumbling boom of thunder. "I thought it wasn't supposed to storm until later!"
Riza stepped over to the window. "Our plans. So much for that, I guess." She crouched by Hayate. "I'm sorry, boy, but we can't go out." Hayate whined, then laid his head down on his paws. Riza was disappointed, sorry that their plans were canceled, sorry for her poor little dog who was equally disappointed.
Edward studied the storm outside. "We can come up with new plans," he said. "There's plenty of things we can do indoors."
"I suppose there are," she said, then looked at him. Seeing him turning red, she raised one eyebrow. "You're blushing. Were you propositioning me?"
He managed to blush even harder at that. "Um, maybe?"
"Oh, Edward." She laughed. "I was teasing you."
For a long moment, Edward didn't say anything. "What if I was serious? Would you?"
She stopped laughing, the smile fading as she stared at him. Was he really serious? Were they really ready for that step in their relationship? They'd only been dating a few months, but she knew Edward did nothing except at breakneck speeds. She'd already overheard him discussing rings with his brother when they thought she couldn't hear.
Thinking about it now, she realized how quickly she'd say yes. So why not say yes to this? "Only if you meant it," she said. "I don't want you to regret anything."
That earned her one of his smiles that shone like the sun, warm and relaxing that made her want to curl up against him and purr. "I got a lot of regrets, but nothing about you is one of them."
It was her turn to blush, feeling her face grow hot with a joy that made her feel like a giddy teenager again. Edward always managed to feel much younger than she was, melted away the years of secrets and lies and too much darkness. How she loved him.
Taking his words as an invitation, she walked over to him and leaned down, kissing him, lightly at first, but as he responded, the kiss turned heated. She sat down on his lap, straddling his legs and hiking up her skirt to free her legs to be more comfortable in that position.
He sucked in his breath at that, his hands reaching up to tease along her sensitive neck. She shivered, the contact sending shocks down her nerves that pooled into white heat between her legs. He continued to assault her neck, and she moaned into the kiss, tracing her fingers down his chest to his waist, then over his pants to cup him gently, fondling him to full erection.
Breaking the kiss, Edward looked at her, glassy eyed with lust. "Do you wanna go to the bedroom?" he asked between heavy breaths.
She shook her head. "I think here's fine," she said, wanting him then and there, didn't want nor need any more foreplay than what they'd already had; she was already wet and flushed and ready, desperate to feel him, touch him, kiss him, to be filled to the breaking point.
He didn't argue with her decision, just went back to kissing her senseless, fingers brushing across her throat in an erotic way, teasing her further into an animalistic need. Wanting revenge and more of that lovely stimulation, she tugged at the edge of his t-shirt, pulling back to take it off over his head and tossing it aside before scraping her short nails over his back, eliciting sweet moans and noises from him. His back was just as sensitive as her neck, she could feel his cock hard against her, separated from her by his pants and her panties.
That would not do.
Her fingers left his back to work open his pants, and he lowered his hands to help her, freeing his erection. She stroked him lightly, earning moans and whispered pleas from him. Who was she to let him down? She moved her hand to push aside her wet panties, guiding him into her with her other hand.
She shuddered at the sensation of him entering her, filling her. He gave a sharp gasp, pressing his hips up against her. She planted her feet on the ground, taking over setting their pace, gyrating her hips slightly as she thrust down against him. The feeling was hot, delicious and swept over every nerve until she thought she'd burn from his heat, his fire, everything about him.
Riza was quickly losing her balance, clinging to his shoulders to keep herself from falling backwards, so she moved her hand to grip the back of the chair behind him, rocking her hips against him in a frenzied pace, raw and aching, both of them desperately racing towards that blissful high where the fall over the edge was as pleasant as the climb.
She came first, shaking against him as she cried out, everything in her tightening up and flooding her with sensations. He whimpered, his hands drifting down her back to grip her hips, trying to make her move more, give him more so he could join her in that pleasant wash of warmth. She couldn't breathe, feeling herself climbing again as she thrust down on him again, continuing until she fell, until he finally stopped breathing, tense, fingers digging into her hips until she thought she might bruise as his orgasm tapered off, leaving them both shivering and breathing heavily.
Neither moved for a long minute, holding tightly to each other, hearts beating rapidly, fluttering around with sated lust. It was Edward that broke the silence first, lifting his head to place a soft kiss on her jaw. "I love you," he whispered.
She turned her head to meet his lips, catching his lower lip between hers, then broke the kiss, resting her forehead against his. "I love you, too, Edward."
Outside, lightning flashed and thunder rolled.
