Well La-De-Fucking-Da
Who: Strix, Balam, Dr. Cox, [open]
Where: Neflheim
When: Directly after her confrontation with Light
Rating: R, language, blood
Warning: none yet
Summary: Strix nearly killed Light, but not before being shot first and having Lucifer interfere. She staggers away from the confrontation with no real direction, exhausted from shape shifting, and bleeding heavily.

Strix leaned against the wall outside Room 102 to catch her breath for a moment. She was a mess, her clothes ragged and blood running down her arm. When she lifted herself away from the wall to stagger down the hallway she left a bright red smear.

Man, she could really use a drink.

She need to go somewhere. Hide? No telling what would happen if Sal or someone else like that came upon her. Where could she go? The tower? Carrion...maybe that wasn't such a hot idea.

And where the fuck had that gun come from? It had appeared as if out of nowhere...

The bastard.

The doctor. Should she find him? She had no idea where he was. She clutched her shoulder. Hurt like a motherfucker. What kind of fucking gun was that?

She wandered.

Outside...she thought foggily. Outside was the answer. She had to find her way outside. Then...she would think of something. Yes.

Before she managed to get outside, however, a not-so-familiar flash of naturally firetruck-red hair appeared in her sight as the dark-skinned, mostly human looking Balam caught sight of her.

His eyebrows rose and the eyes hidden behind his sunglasses widened at the sight. He had absolutely no idea why the woman wandering around was in shredded clothing, or why she was bleeding so badly, but he immediately went to her. "You need help," he stated obviously, then looked around and grimaced. "And it looks like right now it's going to come from me. What the hell happened?"

Strix may have been hurt, but that only made her instincts run all the harder. She heard the guy approaching, there was just nothing she could do about it. She wanted to get away from him.

"A little flesh wound, is all. Just need some fresh air. Can't find the door..." she said a little breathlessly.

With her uninjured arm she tried to wave him off. She felt extremely lightheaded, and she vaguely wondered if Light had been just goddamn lucky enough to hit an artery.

Strix kept moving despite the young man's presence. She just wasn't sure exactly where.

Balam frowned but kept walking with her, until finally he grabbed her arm. "Look, stop. Sit down and i'll help you out, okay?" Just because he wasn't about to trust someone didn't mean he wouldn't try to help them! She looked like she was severely injured.

"...Who are you?" she said, confused. She tried to move forward again only to realize that something was holding her in place by her arm. It was warm.

"Let me go. I just need some fresh air." She had to fight this. Had to stay focused. The pain was immense. She tried to use it to focus her mind to a sharp point. It wasn't working. Her vision was getting black around the edges.

This place wasn't safe...had to get out..

Blood was beginning to gather in little pools on the ground.

Perry had heard the gunshot from the study room and groaned. He'd hoped no one would do anything stupid until the first tournament, but that hope was in vain.

He grabbed the anatomy book he was looking at and ran outside only to see the smear of blood on the wall. That didn't look good. not at all. He followed the trail of blood calmly with his free hand in his pocket. if they were going to be stupid enough to wander, he was going to take his time.

And then he saw the producer of the blood.

"Hey there Murder She Wrote. I didn't think you of everyone here were stupid enough to attract wounds before the tournament. Want me to look at that? Or would you rather bleed out?"

"...Doc?" She said as if through a thick fog. Her adrenaline was giving up on her. She could feel it. She clutched at her shoulder numbly as the world around her narrowed.

"Light, he....Wouldn't be so bad, but...artery." It came out in a rough garble. She began to sway a little on her feet.

Balam's eyes widened and his hand immediately went to her shoulder. His grip was hard and not pleasant - but it was stopping some of the blood loss. He knew that much about what to do for an injured human at least. "Shit, lady. You need ta sit down. Ah, fuck," he glanced at the doctor. "Got anything on hand to help treat this or should I just keep pressin' down while you go run off and get supplies?"

Why the hell was he bein' so nice about this, anyway? It didn't matter that much if one off these untrustworthy enemies died. But...he cringed inwardly. No, he didn't want more people dead. And thinking of everyone in Niflheim as an enemy to the extent of wanting them dead wouldn't do him any good either - it'd just make his situation worse. He kept his grip on Strix's wound firm and efficient...but it softened just enough to ease the pain of his grip as best he could.

(ooc: Yar, she be human. Generally the writing style changes when Strix is in a creature form. Emphasis on emotional reaction drops off, and focus is more on what would be externally apparent. I say "the creature" instead of "Strix" to emphasis the "otherness" of that form, and the fact that it is different from her, and on some level even thinks differently. Whenever Strix is shape shifted I try to make it very apparent.....And sorry if that's an overcomplicated response x D)

Perry barely had time to mutter the words "shit" and "moron" before he moved Balam's hands to better put pressure on her wound.

"Just keep your hands still. Don't particularly have time to go get anything." He dug into his pockets and took out a pair of glasses. He had to get the bullet out if there was any chance of the wound to heal right. "Hey Pipsqueak." He started, trying to make her mad so she could focus. "This is going to hurt. Try not to bite my head off." He muttered to her as he tore a strip off his jacket. He tied that around the wound as tight as it would go before he took a deep breath...

And dug the arm of his glasses into the wound to get the bullet.

Strix heard the doctor talking to her as if from a long way away, almost like he was on the other side of a tunnel. He was doing something to her arm. She understood that she needed to firm up. She nodded absently. Focus. Yes, I got it. And somewhere deep inside her head a lucid voice whispered, "Am I going into shock?"

And then all of a sudden pain bloomed in her shoulder like a white-hot flower.

"GRRRYYYAAA!" she cried out as he dug into her open wound. She tried to keep her feet. Tried very hard. Focus. Focus!. But it was no use. Her legs crumpled underneath her and she began to reel forward.

Balam grimaced. For a split second, he was lost in thought. The last thing he wanted to do was touch a woman in that manner ever again. Why the hell did he have to deal with this, anyway? And yet...

Regardless of his thoughts, he moved with her and bent his leg awkwardly so that she'd land on his thigh and be seated there. "Stay up, damn it," he cursed. "Can't ya do better than this?" It was awkward, but he was keeping her from falling this way. He never stopped applying pressure to the wound with his hands, either, and he pressed slightly to keep her from reeling forward as best he could as well.

Not good.

Perry sank to the ground with her, only pausing his digging when she fell. He cursed a little as he wrapped an arm around her shoulders so he could get better leverage. And after what felt like hours, he managed to get the bullet out.

It plopped onto the ground with a metallic ring and he dropped his glasses back into his pocket. His hands were covered in blood as he contemplated his options. He had needle and thread in the study room, but he needed to be able to see her wound first.

"Get her into the kitchen and wash that wound off. I'm going to get my things." Oddly enough, he found himself wishing he at the very least had Newbie here to help him. The boy knew what to do, even if Balam was a good set of extra hands. But if wishes were pies he'd be as fat as Jordan. He wiped his hands off onto his white jacket as he raced back into the study room.

(ooc: ...I thought Balam was holding her up? Um. I guess I wasn't clear enough with the latter part of his post. Also, if Strix would rather post first, she can ignore this and i'll delete it - I wasn't sure if Balam should go next because of the orders or not.)

Without a word Balam lifted the woman up in his arms and made his way to the kitchen. He put her on the counter in a seating position and held her up. How to wash her wound?

He spotted a clean towel and tore it from its resting place, using the same hand to turn the faucet on. He drenched the towel in lukewarm water before squeezing it in his palm to drain most of it. That done, he began to clean the wound as best he could. The redheaded demon was no expert - but he was clearly intent on helping her, even grimacing as he was. "I'm not trying ta do anythin' weird, so don't freak. The doctor'll be back in a second."

((ooc: sorry I took so long to respond!))

Strix tried to stay passive, even though the pain of Balam cleanig her wound made her want to shred him to tiny pieces. In all honoesty, she probably couldn't put up much of a fight. The room was swiming a bit too much for that. In fact, it was swimming a lot.

"Jesusfuck!" she choaked out hoarsley. "You pouring salt in there or what?"

Perry walked quickly (Dr. Cox never ran) to get the med bag he'd put together for just such an occasion. Good thing he had, otherwise everything would have taken twice as long. He snatched a couple gloves from his extras stash and walked back to the kitchen.

"Noooope, he's getting the gun powder out." Perry said, hoisting the bag onto the counter. The gloves were pulled on and he grabbed needle and thread from the bag. "Bite your beak there, Tweedy Bird. More pain headed your way."

Balam grunted and moved so that he wasn't in the way of the doctor, but still able to help Strix continue sitting up. He was pretty sure that if she tipped over it wouldn't help any of them.

He wanted this done and fast so he could get the hell out of there. He didn't know what to expect from these two, not yet. Not enough to where he was comfortable enough to relax around either of them. Though of the two, Dr. Cox he didn't mind so much.

He blamed the guy's penchant for being a general ass and still seeming pretty sane in comparison to the others.

With her free hand Strix grabbed Balam's as he held her up. She squeezed tightly, her hand shaking visibly. The whole room seemed to be turning upside down. What room was this, anyway?

"Σκέφτομαι ότι πρόκειται να περάσω έξω… θλιβερό." It sounded like babble, but it was Greek.

Dr. Cox made a mental note. Balam? Pretty dang helpful. Strong candidate for assistant.

"Sorry, I don't speak crazy." Something was wrong. It looked like... Perry got closer and dug his fingers around slightly. Yup. "The brachial artery is cut." He said, mostly to Balam. "She's going to bleed out if we don't get it back together." He had one end, but where was the other? He continued digging. Not something he should be doing, but if he didn't find it, she would bleed out and die.

Balam remained quiet. ...For a while, anyway. "Would closin' the blood flow in that area give you extra time ta find it?" Then again, maybe that wasn't the best idea. He didn't know medicine well. But he knew he could stop blood flow - much in the way that he could prevent a rope from fraying. Burning the tip.

He kept holding Strix up carefully, raising an eyebrow at the way her hand gripped his. "Squeeze as hard as ya want, alright? I ain't quite human either." She might be strong, but he was pretty sure she wouldn't crush his hand unintentionally.

Strix gasped in pain as Cox dug around in her shoulder. He said something. It went over her head.

"Θεοί, Γιατί να μου το κάνει?" she said, weakly.

She was starting to get less responsive and even more loopy, and her skin was slowly turning a particularly interesting shade of ashen blue. If Balam hadn't been holding her up, she would have fallen off the kitchen counter. She was having a hard time rembering how she got there in the first place.

At first she didn't realize Balam was talking at all. The sound was like a confusing buzzing in her ear. Then she found that he wasn't talking to her, and then he was talking to her, and he was going so fast that it seemed almost impossible to follow. What did he say? Human?

"Human...Που μου είπε ήταν human? Are you human? Είμαι δεν πεθαίνει, είμαι εγώ?"

Strix's whole body began to shake.

"As long as it keeps the blood in her body. Do it." He said, freeing one hand to dig into his back. He pulled out a clamp, intending to close it on the vein he had. Until she started to shake, that is.

"Shit! She's going into shock. Hold her still!" Cox really would have rather had Newbie there to help him so he didn't have to shout orders. It took precious time and attention away from what he was doing, but he'd just have to cope for the moment. Perry reached back into his bag, spreading blood everywhere and pulled out a bottle of medicine.

"And shut that vein off!"

He held her still, but at the same time that hand over the wound began to blaze with fire that seared its way into her wounds within seconds. It sealed the veins - it'd take care of the bleeding for now, but eventually those veins would have to be reunited again. It was a messy business...but at least he'd been able to help there. The flames disappeared around his hand and Balam looked at Strix grimly. "Sorry, i'm sure that hurt."
