WHO: Nix and Blythe
WHERE: Asgard Gardens
WHEN: A few hours after introduction to house
RATING: PG - For possible language and whatnot
WARNINGS: None as of now
SUMMARY: Blythe and Nix meeting and getting to know one another

Nix managed to find his way from his room and out to the gardens that almost surrounded Asgard. He had recently posted on Blythe's journal to alert her to the fact that they should meet soon. As he got closer to the gardens though, he realized that there was also a maze. Sighing, he turned around and decided to wait just outside the first entryway so as to not confuse Blythe.

Looking around, he spotted a small bench and seated himself on it. Looking up into the air, he did rather enjoy to way this place made him feel. It felt right, like he was at home, but there was still that tinge of something else. Something seemed to be nagging at the back of his mind and he couldn't figure out what.

Instead of pushing the issue to himself he let his attention fall upon a few birds resting on a branch nearby, cleaning one another and playing games. Chirping back and forth before fluttering off further into the gardens.

Soon after introductions had been made, Blythe dismissed herself from her journal. She knew she'd spent too much time at it, acquainting herself under less than formal terms. Pushing in her chair, she outstretched her arms and guided herself through the building to meet Nix. Metatron had been kind and placed her on the bottom floor, so she wouldn't have to suffer the stairs too often.

Once outside, what was once a blank palette burst into an array of colours. Every tree, every bird, every insect glowed in unique shades, attracting her attention and her appreciation. The garden was therefore not difficult to find at all. In fact, after only a few minutes, she came to the enterance of it.

An aura stood out to her - a lean, brown one. It reminded her of the time her sister explained the lake - when one kicked up the dirt and it blended with the water. He was like a lake.

But he was also very short. For some reason she'd expected him to be much taller, but there he was, waiting and small.

"I apologize for being late," Blythe neared him, slightly fumbling, but overall comfortable. "I have not yet learned the layout of Asgard."

AN: Thanks for starting this! Sorry I couldn't have gotten to it sooner! As for the 'short' thing, she doesn't know he's sitting down. =D

As he heard her footsteps nearing his gaze was removed from the birds and the surrounding area and was placed upon her. She was small, petite, and walking a bit oddly. He didn't think anything of it and listened to her speak for the first time. As she fumbled a bit he finally realized, she is blind.

Sighing, he lifted himself from his seat and stood up straight. He was quite tall compared to her, but not freakishly tall. He smiled at first then realized she probably could see his failing attempt to be polite and the smile faded quickly.

"It is fine. I understand. You are blind then?"

The moment Nix stood up, Blythe knew she had been sorely mistaken about his height and felt a wave of embarrassment. From the way he sounded, though, even in his gruff conversation, there was a lilt to his voice she would not have grasped in the journals. That, and his aura, settled her doubts of him.

"Yes, yes, I am blind, but I am able to 'see' through my Third Eye." she didn't want to divulge too deeply. After all, he hadn't asked her life story. However, she did offer out her hand. "It is nice to meet you."

As he stood up he noticed that Blythe's cheeks had flushed for a moment and then disappeared. He raised an eyebrow and then nodded to her as she explained. Of course, he took it literally that she had a third eye and kept the skeptical view on his face.

"Ah...A third eye?"

After a moment of looking at her face he took her hand and leaned down, placing a kiss to the back of her hand.

"It is very nice to meet you as well. May I ask where your third eyes is?"

Though he completely wished to be seen as tough, which he technically was, he had a naive mind and took things too literally.

Pleasantly surprised, Blythe folded her hand in her dress after Nix kissed it, not to be rude, but because of how shy she became in that moment. Following up on Nix's questions, Blythe couldn't hold back a laugh.

"Oh, no, no! There is no Third Eye on my body, no." She smiled as she felt her own comfort space returning. "A Third Eye is a reference to a person's psyche. That one is able to tap into the unknown, and, in some instances, the spiritual. My Third Eye shows me auras. These are indicators of a person's true soul."

She paused, and frowned slightly. "I apologize, it is a very extensive thing. Quite a conversation starter!"

Nix smiled softly as he noticed how Blythe folded her hand in her dress. When she laughed, he got a confused look on his face. Why was she laughing at him? Had he done something wrong?

His question was answered though and his face flushed at his stupidity. He was quite angry with himself and even turned his head slightly to curse himself under his breath.

"Ah...I..um. I see. It is quite the conversation starter indeed. I find it rather intriguing actually. So, you can see my aura? May I ask what it looks like?"

Blythe considered, as she had nothing definite to compare the colour to. She had remembered in flashes, all those years ago when she was a baby, the sights she had seen. Pictures being jerked before her eyes. She could explain many things, but an image was something entirely differnt.

"You...hm." she swallowed. "Your aura is brown. A light brown, almost. It...it makes me think of the taste of cream and chocolates. From what I have learned in my years with the Sight, brown is for those who are much more reserved, much more fortified in their personality. Like a mountain unyielding to the wind. Or a lake frozen over."

Nix stood up straight as he listened to Blythe speak, it was only appropriate considering he was in the presence of a lady. He crossed his arms over his chest and then put most of his weight on one leg.

"Ah. I see. Well I should think that is a good thing. Though it seems it means I'm stubborn as well. Quite true though. The frozen lake seems a good analogy though. Considering that is where I lived all my life."

He chuckled softly before unfolding his arms and gesturing towards the gardens.

"Shall we walk and talk? Or perhaps just find a nice sitting area within the garden, Blythe?"

She admitted softly to herself that she knew he was stubborn; it had been one of the first things she'd noticed about him. But she wasn't going to repeat herself, for risk of him arguing with her.

"Yes, a walk sounds pleasant indeed. As we go, you may also indulge me with a story or two of your life, as I know so little about you." With that, she hiked up her skirts a few centimeters as not to trip, and began to walk along into the garden.

Nix nodded and followed beside her, walking slowly since his strides were almost twice that of hers.

"My story? There is not much to tell. I have always been it seems. Obviously, not as long as the Gods. I lived in the lakes, rivers, and oceans of my world. And I can control water and even ice now, due to that little unfortunate mishap."

He grumbled slightly before continuing. They were walking through a lovely area of the garden that was completely filled with blooming lilacs. Their scent floated through the air around them.

"I have always been alone. Aside from my aquatic friends of course. But they cannot speak and understand like another one of my kind, or even a human. I must admit, that talking with someone like this is quite a treat, considering I usually never spoke to those in my world."

Listening quietly, Blythe felt a pleasant blush at Nix's last line. But still, she was sad to hear he'd lived such a lonely life. It seemed so many of Asgard were caught in the throes of isolation before arriving to their current destination. It made her heart ache.

"Why were you apart from all the others? Were there no others with your same heritage?" She didn't know how to ask, or even what to ask, as she knew so little about him. "Did you choose to be...alone?"

Nix was quite taller than Blythe and it began to amuse him as he glanced over to her everyone once in awhile. As she began to ask questions of his past he got a solemn look on his face before answering.

"I am a Fosse-Grim. I was...not well liked where I was from. Thought of as a murderer of sorts. I was the only one that I knew of and I searched...trust me. I searched. And no...I did not choose to be alone. It just..sort of happened..."

A murderer?

A murderer?

At first she was speechless, both vocally and mentally, but as she thought about it, he had the sort of demeanor of one who'd witnessed death - perhaps caused it - and lived with it in their heart. To say Blythe hadn't expected that answer was an understatement. If she hadn't trusted him as a member of her team, she probably would have been very upset.

But to even hear him say he was alone...why, who was she to turn away someone who'd probably suffered as much as she, if not more?

"It is hard that we are condemned because of our very existence, especially when it is not our choice as to what we will be when we are born." She muttered bitterly. "A murderer you may have been perceived, but there is more to one than a reputation."

She would have said she was sorry, but Nix didn't seem the sort to really want to hear it.

As they continued through the garden, all he did was look around at all the greenery. In all honesty, he wasn't used to this much green. He was used to blue, all different shades of blue. Of course there were plants in the ocean and rivers he inhabited, but not this much. It was a new experience and he was beginning to like it.

Hearing Blythe's words made him chuckle softly.

"Yes. It is quite the hard deal to be condemned for who you are."

Nix was silent for a few moments before speaking softly.

"I love to play the violin. Yet, that is the source of the murders. My music is beautiful, Blythe. I love to listen to it and I love to create it, but it destroys people..."

Every once in a while, Blythe's fingers skimmed the random shrubs and bushes that passed by on their walk. She was sad that she could never see the colours of the blossoms and the buds like everyone else could. Everything outside of Nix was the same shade of green. But the fact that she could See them at all was almost comfort enough.

Her fingers returned to her dress. Nix's words overcame her. "I fear I do not understand. Why would something with such a beautiful purpose do such harm to others? Why would you play it if it killed people?"

"I am a Fosse-Grim. It is our sole purpose in life to play beautiful music to lure women and children to drown in the waters. Though, as you said, it is not our choice to what we are born into. And I refused to play my music to kill. So I secluded myself. Though I cannot simply stop playing my music. It is a part of me...And I do not plan on stopping, Blythe."

By this time Nix had stopped walking and was simply standing in the middle of the path, looking up into the sky. Thinking about what he had done weighed heavy on his heart. But not playing his music, also hurt him.

"I will play my music Blythe. But I will not play it near the house, I promise...."

At first, Blythe had been stunned that Nix would so blatantly announce he would never stop playing his music. But she could understand it in that it was a piece of his soul. Everyone had a dark side to them, and sometimes it would not be so easy as to simply ignore it.

"I know you promise." She said softly. She paused for a moment, thinking to herself, and then let her eyes drift over his aura. "I trust you." Tucking a hair behind her ear, she continued: "You say it was 'our soul purpose'. I take it you mean there had once been more of your kind. You were persecuted, were you not."

As he heard Blythe accept his decision and his promise, a weight seemed to be lifted off his shoulders. With a sigh he lifted his head and looked her straight in the eye. His blue eyes were like oceans, so very deep and all encompassing.

"Yes. There were those like me. And yes, I was persecuted. Not doing what you were born to do...can get you into more trouble than you would think, especially with those like me. It was as if change scared them so completely..."

"It seems that you were in a cage no matter what your choices." Blythe murmured, deeply sorry to hear of Nix's past plight. It wounded her a bit, and surprised her, that so many of Asgard had such complicated pasts. Sometimes she wondered how they even managed to get here.

She sensed them coming up to the greenhouse and paced her walk. "How about we move to lighter conversation? I wish to examine my herbs. Would you like to come see?"

"Hm. Actually, Blythe, I now have a craving to play my violin. If you don't mind, I will leave you now."

Nix turned to Blythe and gave her a large smile and bowed before her. After a moment he straightened himself up.

"We will talk with one another at a later time. I bid you farewell for now Blythe. This was a lovely talk."

With that, he turned on his heel and made his way back to the house.
