Beware, beware, oh Lucifer is there!
WHO: Lucifer and Light
WHERE: Niflheim, 1st floor hallway (just outside of Light and Strix's room)
WHEN: Shortly after the orientation (like everyone else?)
RATING: PG, PG-13 for now
WARNINGS: Lucifer is his vile self?
SUMMARY: Lucifer decides to assess Light.

It wasn't hard to find the Japanese male in Niflheim. He was the only Japanese, for one, and then there were only so many places to search. The most likely place was in front of room number 102, where he'd stuck Light and Strix. He expected things to turn out rather amusing, the way he'd organized everyone. Unable to resist a dark chuckle, Lucifer leaned across the wall directly across the door and crossed his arms. He wore a simple black t-shirt for now that gave way to black leather pants and chains that hung from beltloops on one side. His monstrous hiking books complete with sharpened edges on the bottom tapped into the ground to an impatient beat as he waited. To the world if they didn't know who he was, he'd probably come off as some dangerous or rebellious punk. But what made people fear him wasn't his appearance, everchanging as it was. It was the aura, the feel that surrounded Lucifer and tended to make those who came close very, very afraid.

No, Lucifer might not look dangerous but something about him...everything about him was seeped in all the kinds of danger that one just didn't want to mess with.

His eyes flashed from white to red, and he brushed the temporarily elongated dark red bangs away from his face. He could be patient. Truly. Either the kid - for to Lucifer, pretty much anyone was a kid - was in his room lounging around and would eventually leave to explore, or the kid would eventually come to check out his room.

However long it would take, Lucifer could wait. He'd come on a whim, after all. He wanted to know what this kid was like, this...Japanese power-hungry guy who came simply for the promise that he would receive a new Death Note for his services. Lucifer intended to gain a small measure of that information as soon as possible.

It was several hours before Light had even thought about leaving his room. He was curious as to if he could eat again. Being dead, he wondered if it was even an option. It probably wasn't necessary.

Just what was he anyway?..A ghost? He felt solid. Zombie? No. That was childish. And angel? Demon?

It didn't really matter now, though. He'd probably find out in time. He eventually found everything out with time. That was how he was. Light Yagami. Quite possibly one of the smartest people who had ever existed. Too bad that existence had only been a mere 24 years..Well..close to 24.

He got up, moving towards the door to only find it was getting warmer and warmer as he approached. What was this?...Could it be..?

Ah, yes. Lucifer must be there. That was the most likely explanation. It was a bit easy to tell with the heat. With that, he opened the door to look at his visitor. "Hello. Sorry if I kept you waiting. Didn't know you were here." He bowed slightly, but only to keep up appearances. He was his superior...for now.

Lucifer smirked as Light bowed. He certainly played the proper role, but was he sincere? Lucifer didn't trust anyone.

The only thing in existence that he'd trusted was God, and most people knew that particular tale's end. Though only Lucifer knew the full story, if he ever wanted to tell it. His foot ceased its incessant tapping and he sized Light up with his eyes. It was strangely amusing that such an ordinary-looking (true, women probably fell for the kid's looks) human would have been such a danger while he'd been alive.

Oh, Lucifer had some idea of what Light was like already just from knowing his past. There was a reason Satan had chosen him. He was dangerous, but he was...thoroughly interesting, just like the rest. Amusing to watch and useful to...use, of course. He was a perfectionist who had a loathing for anything that wasn't 'satisfactory' - that's what Lucifer saw in Light, anyway.

But Lucifer was an assuming bastard, and he knew that about himself quite well. No, Lucifer didn't even trust himself half the time. Quirking a brow, he eyed the door to Light's room before returning his attention to the human before him. "I felt like lingering. If i'd wanted to catch your attention, there's other ways." Setting your room on fire would be one.

Felt like lingering? He must have a lot of time on his hands. Well, considering how long he must have been in existence, that was most likely true.

Now that he himself was dead, did he have a lot of time on his hands as well? Or would Nothingness come to take him again once more at some point?

He briefly found himself wondering where L might be. Was he still in Nothingness as he had been, or had he been given a chance at redemption as well? He had to admit, it would be interesting to have him as a rival once more.

Glancing back at Lucifer, he addressed him politely. "I have many questions. Perhaps you have answers for me, sir?"

Strix had escaped the crazy meeting of demons and sex fiends and robots just as soon as she could, and fled quietly to the out-of-doors. She had stayed outside for hours, thinking very hard. Finally she decided that she had better give this thing a try if she wanted to ever get home again.

She checked the rooming list one last time and saw that she was sharing with someone else. This didn't make her very happy. She saw that the person's name was Light, and thought that was rather odd. Suddenly the little voice inside her that often speaks unknowable truths whispered, "Kira," and then was silent again.

Kira? Strix had spent some time in Japan in the late 1880's, and had known a woman named Kira there. Strix had known the Japanese to be an extremely affable people, maybe this wouldn't be so bad.

She approached the hall and her sensitive hearing picked up two male voices. One of them she recognized as Lucifer. She also heard a ticking noise. She hesitated, stuck between wanting to stop and listen and not wanting to underestimate her peers. If they could here that'd be no good.

She decided to go on to her room, and found that these two individuals were standing right in front of it. She found that the other voice had ben coming from a young looking Japanese male. And the ticking sound...wasn't a ticking sound, it was multiple ticking sounds, and it was starting to get under her skin.

Since they were blocking the entrance to her room she had to stop and address them. A sudden horrible thought came over her. What if light was not a woman at all, but this man in front of her? She gave a short bow and said, "こんにちは。あなたがキラですかさん？" (Hello. You are Kira-san?)

((my other post got eaten! I had to do it all over again, so I didn't type as much. The other one was better. Sorry! T_T))

Light glanced up, staring at the woman for a moment. How had she known that? Possibly read his entry..Yeah, that had to be it.

"私は私の本当の名前は、実際にします。キラと呼ばれる不思議な気持ちになるのが私の顔をします。" (I prefer my real name, actually. It feels strange being called Kira to my face.) He replied. "あなたのお名前は何ですか?" (What is your name?)

Since she did so, he began speaking in English again. Light raised an eyebrow. "If you think I'm going to do anything to you, you are sadly mistaken." Whatever reason she had, he was pretty sure he could prevent himself from being as such.

He was sure having a roommate who was uncomfortable with his presence would probably be uncomfortable for him as well....Though, it might be better than the extremely comfortable situation between he and Misa while he was alive. He certainly had never truly enjoyed that. He would try to act so, but even with his wonderful acting skills, that had been hard.

	Strix gave a snort. "You? Do something to me?" She eyed him closely. "No offense, but that is hardly a worry. I think perhaps you might want to worry more about what I can do to you. Inwardly, he was laughing. It didn't show, however, and he merely quirked an eyebrow at them both. "If you kill anyone on our side, fun as it might be, you'll only open up a whole new door. Do that, and I get to do anything I want to you. I'm up for a creative disembowlement, sweetheart. You?" he tilted his head to one side as he glanced at Strix like a dog to a ragdoll.

"There's alcohol and clocks in your room, like Light said. Don't like, mess with it. I don't care." The interaction between Light and Strix had certainly keyed a few points of notice to him, and he was toying with those thoughts as he spoke. The look Light was giving him only made him smirk.

"You are a bastard, aren't you? Besides. Killing is overrated anyway. You should know that. You only get to do it once. There aren't any statutes about torture, are there?" She grinned a little and her fangs poked out.

"Oh, and by the way, have you made arrangements for my, err, condition? Or am I allowed to feed on anything that tickles my fancy? There doesn't seem to be a lot of game around here."

"And..aw, fuck. That noise is really driving me crazy!"

"There's plenty of animals and monsters around, if you look carefully. Or did it have to be human blood?" he snickered. "You might just be a little fucked in that case, sweetheart. Maybe you can feed off of some of your little Hellmates here. Get cuddly with 'em and maybe they'll give you a treat." He laughed.

He shrugged. "I'll bring you meals when you need them - but don't expect any pampering. You won't get any more than what you need, unless you want more and prove yourself worthy of the extra." His gaze went to Light, then, and he took a step towards the Japanese human, easily sliding away from the wall he'd been leaning on. "And you."

He leaned forward to stare into the boy's eyes as his eyes flashed to a black that encompassed even the whites of his eyes. "You...will prove especially amusing." Those words said, he turned and began to walk away with a swagger to his emaciated gait. "Do whatever the hell works for you all. Torture what you like, but don't kill anyone. I want everyone to be able to kick Metapansy and his Feelgood's asses." He was already walking away, prepared to leave.

Lucifer paused and turned back to the man, quirking an eyebrow. "I brought you back to life - I didn't make you inhuman." He searched for a way to explain it. He shrugged, his hair morphing and growing so that his hair was a dark brown and his hair cascaded straight to his waist. He ran a hand through it in annoyance. "Think of it like this. You died, but you're human again. You have to eat, you still feel pain. It's like I gave you your old body back...but technically if someone dug up your body they'd still find yours."

"You'll be useful in whatever way you can be," he shrugged, gesturing out as if the answer should be there in front of the kid already. "Use your talents. If you have charm, use it. If you have lies, use them. If you have a brain...use it. Whatever you have that gives you an advantage? You make use of it. Even if all you do is destroy the minds of our enemies or manipulate your teammates into being more efficient." He'd leave it up to Light, except for when the trials came around.

And when those came around, it was always a game of who had the brains, the brawn, and the advantages...

He put his hands in his pockets and turned, walking back over to the room he shared with the other inhabitant of the hallway.
