A morning after never looked so bad
Who: Will, Mitch (Henry, Sal?)
Where: Outside Asgard, Mitch's Room
When: Day After The Party
Rating: Uh...PG-13/R?
Warnings: Language and violence
Summary: Will shows off how morally corrupt he really is with Henry's life in Sal's hands. Sal wants Mitch in exchange for Henry, and Will seems eager to deliver.

Will Graham awoke with a start sometime before noon. The entire process was painful, his neck hurt, his head hurt, and he could swear he'd had a bunny ear up his nose at one point in the night.

A few of the multi-colored furballs hopped around the blond man's stomach and chest, impatient for the morning meal. The party came back to Will sharply: his spying on "Ryuzaki", watching to make sure Henry everyone was alright. He'd gotten to bed only after Henry had gotten home and after making sure nothing too terrible happened to anyone else. He'd managed to sleep about four hours ago.

He tried to placate the baby rabbits as he pushed them off of him with promises that they would eat as soon as he could stumble over to the feed in his cabinet.

That done, Will made some coffee as he watched them hop around. Glancing over at the clock, he made his way to Henry's room to see if he was awake and whether or not he wanted some caffeine. He knocked on the door to room 307 and waited before something caught his attention. Henry's rabbits were making the same sort of noises as his had been. Where was Henry? Hadn't the bunnies been fed?

Putting his hand on the door as he fought to swallow and with the feel of Hobbs' wife's arms around his leg catching him by surprise, Will pushed it open to look inside.

Everything was in order, just as Will was used to seeing it. He spared a fond glance over at the camera Henry had let him borrow and felt another sliver of doubt. One of the cameras was gone.

The rabbits hadn't been fed, and Henry was out taking pictures. That was nothing like the sensitive animal lover Will knew. Will fed the bunnies quickly and made his way out of the apartments.

Henry wasn't in the garden, and Will could imagine that with the soft fog and the sun where it was, Henry would have been drawn to images of the sun-dappled forest.

Will wished he'd been wrong when he found the letter.

With a cold detachment that was almost inhuman, Will found himself knocking on Mitch's door. He had a plan in mind.

Even around this hour of the day, Mitch was knocked out. Sometimes he'd be up early to catch some exercise alone in the new gym, and other times he was still asleep, taking pleasure from the fact that he no longer had to get up for school at the ungodly hour of 6:00 am. Metatron's movements would wake him up at times. If the angel was staying, they'd share breakfast together and with anyone else who was downstairs. If the angel was leaving for more negociations with Lucifer, Mitch would lie awake, imagining what the first trial might be like and wondering if he was smart enough or strong enough to face it.

The party had kept him sleeping in late. Luckily for Will, the teen's mind was surfacing from the ocean of deep sleep and he heard the knocking at the door. Startled slightly, Mitch immediately opened his eyes and looked across the room at the empty bed. 'Eh... Metatron's gone. I thought I told him he doesn't need to knock...' Then again, it could've been one of the Asgards. No one had visited so early before, though.

With that in mind, he coughed to clear his throat and yelled out, "Be there in a mo!" Since he didn't know who was there, he shoved on an old shirt and pulled on jeans over his boxers. After a wave of a hand through his hair, Mitch was presentable enough (though still doubtlessly unprepared for what was to transpire).

Then he opened the door and was startled again. "Will? What's up?"

Will's voice was short and clipped. He had his .45 in an ankle holster and the letter tucked safely away in a jeans pocket where nobody could see it r know about it.

He hardly spared a glance at the state of Mitch's appearance, saying only, "Do you wanna go on a rescue mission?"

Mitch's eyes widened. That definitely was not something one wanted to hear first thing after waking up, but hell, he couldn't help but be excited that someone like Will would ask for his help in the first place.

So naturally, without asking for more details (at the moment) Mitch nodded, forced his feet into some walking shoes, and wasted no time in closing the door behind him to follow Will out into the hall. He had no weapons himself, nothing except his fire. Luckily, the redhead'd practiced with what he could and couldn't do with his "power" outside of Asgard. Now it was time for a real test.

"Who's in trouble?" The 'now' was left off hanging silently.

Will walked quickly out of the front door, hardly looking to see that Mitch was behind him. "Henry Townshend. He's been kidnapped by someone called Sal, have you heard of him?

"Sal wants you, I would imagine for your abilities- in exchange for Henry. I'm going to take you to Sal, but I'm not going to give you to him. I'll need you and your fire to distract him so I can get a shot off."

Mitch was only a pace or two behind Will. He hoped that he looked properly serious and not like some puppy trailing behind its best friend of the hour.

He cursed under his breath with pure vehemence. "Yeah, I know him. Kept hinting he wanted to meet with me, but I've always just brushed Sal off..."

A sense of dread swept over him, and his face became quite pale. Henry was kidnapped because of him. Sure, Sal was creepy and insane, but Mitch hadn't ever considered that Sal would go this far. "I'll do it."

Mitch would help any fellow Asgard in a heartbeat, and besides just being a teammate, Henry was a friend. He'd made so many friends during his time here... To think he'd gotten one of them kidnapped, possibly injured, because of refusing to just meet with some freak... It was maddening.

Will found the broken camera and blood trail easily. It all held so many possibilities, and so he didn't dwell on it. He had no way of knowing whose blood it was, and if he thought he saw the glint of bullet casings, he ignored it.

He did, however, warn Mitch of just how armed, dangerous, and insane Sal seemed to be. "If he gets you, I don't think he'll let you go, so let's avoid that happening all together." He added.

Luckily, the chance of traps or an ambush didn't seem that likely.

"Yeah," Mitch agreed, somewhat distracted. Red had filled his vision upon seeing the broken camera and blood. 'Sal, you bastard! If ya wanted me so badly, ya should've just left a threat, and I'd have come runnin' for ya.' It'd been a long time since he'd felt so angry, and he let his rage simmer underneath his skin, which he had learned saved energy for his power later on.

He clenched his fists. 'I hoped Henry put up one hell of a fight.'

The trail seemed to skirt Emptiness and lead into the forest. Not that they would need it necessarily.

Will had to assume that the doors of Niflheim would be open to them. He'd been in there before, but he'd only had the "pleasure" of seeing the tower. A large part of him wished there was some way to get Henry out with Mitch as he went after Walter, too.

It looked as though Sal had taken the shortest possible route. The being probably wanted to get Mitch as soon as possible.

"I think we're on their land, now."

After Sal's security system had informed him of the new arrivals, Sal had left Henry's side pretty quickly, disregarding the threats the wounded man speared at him as he walked out of the room. Pacing his way down the two flights of stairs, he waited at the bottom landing, leaning against the rail. His fingers draped across the butt of the gun at his hip.

When they came in, he'd take them up to the room and negotiations would begin in serious. They just needed to invite themselves in now.

With arms crossed and shoulders squared, Mitch glared up at the entrance of Niflheim. He'd been half-hoping to see the leftovers of Lina and Kain's prank still rotting away. But someone had cleaned up, leaving no traces of mockery behind. All that stood before them, was a dark, imposing mansion fit for a setting in a *survivor horror game or a scary thriller movie. Seeing it for the first time like this made him angrier still. There was no one around except the two Asgardian's, and the wind whipping through rows of dead trees like a howling thing.

"No welcome party," Mitch grunted. "Do we let ourselves inside? Or demand Sal get his ass out here?"

Mitch wasn't bothered about Will going in ahead of him. Maybe it looked cowardly, but well, the redhead did understand that he was the bargaining chip. A seemingly unarmed bargaining chip. One ready to aim, fire, and barbaque the living hell out of the freaky asexual stalker.

Or, at least, he hoped he was ready.

Without a word, he followed Will right into the headquarters of Hell's Team.

{AN: I'm, ah, here. And I've had my posts eaten before. It SUCKS!}

Just as he anticipated, Will and Mitch pushed open the doors to Niflheim cautiously, on edge. As he'd seen them first, he had the advantage of giving each of their persons a once-over. They looked as though they'd just gotten frisked in a detainment center - probably due to the early-morning rush. He didn't see any guns on them, but of course, wasn't betting that they came clean. This was Will, after all.

And Mitch... this was his first time seeing the boy in person. And, man, he wasn't 100% impressed, but knew he would be later.

"Hello, boys." Sal grinned, tongue grazing his teeth languidly. "I'm so happy you accepted my invitation."

This was Mitch's first time seeing Sal as well. And he was just creeped out even more than before, because he'd never seen anyone who looked like Sal. Sure, there were people who had the black hair and pale skin, but the gray eyes... and everything that radiated from this guy, or girl, was just pure...

Malice. Like the gang bangers on the streets, but much worse. At least fiends like that would probably hesitate before they killed you.

Mitch just glared up at the kidnapper in question, remembering that Henry was in danger... So he waited for Will to speak, or for Sal to keep talking, because Mitch didn't trust himself to be exactly friendly at the moment.

Will's mouth pursed and he played with the tip of his tongue between his teeth and closed lips. Biting the edge kept him from saying anything stupid.

He took Sal in with a quick glance, starting almost visibly at the scent of blood that clung to him. So it was Henry who was hurt.

He grabbed Mitch's arm none-too gently, pulling the kid towards him and hoping that he'd play along. Will made a mental note to apologize later.

"Show us to Henry, Sal, and then we'll talk. You've seen what I have to offer, now I want to see what you have."

{AN: It's fine! We're still movin'.}

"Quick and dirty, hm?" Sal smirked before chewing on his lip. Mitch was benign, making the genderless being wonder if Will had told him to keep his mouth shut or if he was just too scared to speak. At this point Henry was more appealing than he was.

He would have completely blown the boy off if it hadn't been for the scent of power on him. Didn't Will know? Didn't anybody know? Sal wasn't someone with psychic abilities or any of that good stuff, but he knew it. He smelled it.

"Alright, then, boys. Follow me." Sal turned and made his way up the stairs, expecting them to follow. They didn't have a choice.

For a split second, Sal thought he caught someone leaving the room. But other than Emerald, that just wasn't possible. He blew it off. He'd find out who it was later.

Mitch didn't have to push hard to look suitably angry, worried, and slightly fearful at the same time. When Will grabbed his arm, he struggled on reflex, just enough to make it look like he was very uncomfortable to be there, but not enough to actually break away. Deception wasn't a skill he'd perfected, so he just hoped that he didn't over-do it and cause Sal to call their bluff.

When Sal turned his back, Mitch gave Will a quick nod. He knew he was putting his life in Will's hands. There wasn't time for uncertainty, not with Henry's life on the line.

So they followed Sal upstairs.

Will immediately pulled Mitch closer to him, tightening his hold more out of habit than anything rational plan.

So much of him wanted to pull the snub-nose .45 and shoot Sal in the back of the head, but he wanted this to go much smoother than that. The act wasn't a part of the plan he'd given Mitch, and right now, he wanted to have as much control over the situation as possible.

Easing his grip but not letting go, Will gave Mitch a wink and ascented the staircase.

Honestly, Sal hadn't been 100% sure Will wouldn't have shot him, and it probably stiffened his walk. But he knew - the voice nagged at him - that Will was probably too honorable for that.

When they reached the room, Sal made sure to go first. Having the vines in the doorway killing Mitch and Will would sure be a suckfest. Especially after all he went through. But if Henry watched it as they got torn to pieces, that would have been a little reassuring.

Anyway...

"Welcome inside, gentlemen. Henry, wake up, you....are covered in bandages." Sal blinked. "I didn't do that."

"I'm resourceful," Henry snapped, wearily, as he lifted his head to look at Sal. And...Mitch and Will. They really had come. He'd dozed on and off since Walter left, trying to forget that the man had been there in the first plae.

He didn't know what they had planned, but he hoped they'd thought it through. And that no one else would get hurt....

Will had to keep pushing the desire down. It would have been so easy for Sal to have shoved him and Mitch down a staircase.

His thoughts stopped short at the sight of Henry and only his own hand on Mitch's shoulder kept him from leaping to Henry's side.

His heart was in his throat as Lecter's voice told him to calm down, they needed to stay in control of the situation.

"I'm here to trade Mitch for you, Henry. That's what Sal wants."

Stay in control.

Henry looked in bad shape, even bandaged up as he was. Did Sal actually shoot the man? 'Shit. And this was to get me in here?!'

All Mitch could do was glare, as he had to wait until Will had Henry at hand. But he was seriously tempted right then to see if his powers were strong enough to incinerate a full human body.

"Wow, so good at getting straight to the point. And here I was expecting some form of negotiation." Sal clicked his tongue a couple times, drawing out his Glock, only to twirl it seemingly offhandedly. "So, you see, Henry? I told you they'd come."

Still spinning the gun, Sal went over and yanked Henry by the shirt, pulling him to his feet (foot? foot-and-a-limp. yes). Holding him close, he pressed the muzzle of the gun against Henry's chest.

"He didn't think you'd come. Didn't think anyone would notice." Sal was saying this more into Henry's ear than anything else now. "Thought this plan was stupid. Well, here they are, Henry. Merry fucking Christmas." Sal eyes lingered back to Will. "You can have your sweetheart back. Mitch, be a good boy and sit on the bed. And Will, you be an even better boy and keep your hands up in the air and away from your body."

Only when his demands were met would Sal let Henry go to Will.

Will could almost perfectly picture himself going into Mitch, or maybe the other way around. The younger boy was showing a restraint Will couldn't feel, and Will put himself into the other's shoes in his own mind. It was a strange trick, pretending to be someone else while he himself dealt with a problem at hand, but it worked.

Mitch didn't feel what he felt towards Henry. Mitch didn't have as much to lose.

"Do as Sal says, Mitch." Giving them all names. Showing how intently he was listening.

Will put his hands in the air, slowly, palms up. Every inch brought them farther away from the .45 strapped to his ankle, and Will had to remind himself that he slitted the side seams of his jeans for more than just how they looked laying across his shoes.

Easier said than done, but Mitchell swallowed his pride and went to sit on the bed, not taking his eyes off Sal. He was so tense, he was certain that at any moment now, he'd break. But he couldn't afford to break - he knew he had much to lose: his own life, the lives of his teammates.

'No, don't think about it. Let's just get the hell out of here.'

Henry grunted in pain as Sal hauled him up, his ankle rolling as he tried to put weight on it and pain shooting up through his leg.

"You shouldn't have come!" he snapped, even though he knew they had to have a plan. They had to. There was no way Will would actually trade one of their teammates. He just had to hope it had been thought through.

"Aww, shut up, Henry. It's too late to be noble."

Will was cooler than usual, as though the temperature of his entire body dropped as the exchange began. It made Will almost come across as cold-blooded, and Sal appreciated, almost admired, that. While the cop was hot-headed in most other situations, he sure did know how to get down to business.

As for Mitch, the boy was very steely. When he sat on the bed, some of the tension sank away from Sal. It was true he'd never done anything like this - usually, he made people run away until they ran out of breath and he shot them. But this took brains, not guts, and Sal could only remain in control in so many ways. Still, he couldn't keep from blowing a kiss to the red-headed boy as he eased his grip off Henry's collar. The gun remained poised under his chin.

"Very slowly, Will, and hands still up. Come and get Henry. But slowly, now."

Mitch was sitting silent and doing what he was supposed to be doing. Good. Henry hadn't been- no, don't think of that. Still good.
His gun was still on him, and the chamber was full. So far, everything was going as planned, as long as Will didn't allow himself to think of Henry's wounds.

He moved his hands up farther by millimeters, ignoring Henry's outburst. He'd feel things later, when all of them were safe. He walked slowly forward, taking his steps in inches, eyes locked on Sal as he took in the rest the gun peripherally.

"Henry needs to lean on me. Unsupported, he'll fall over. When I take him, I'll have to hold him up. I'll use both hands, but them both flat on his back. You'll see them at all times."

He wasn't going to use the snub nose just yet. As long as everything went as planned, he wasn't going to use it for a while yet.
