Upcoming Blythe Trouble
Again, kinda wordy, so that's why it's under a cut...
But! Okay, story time:
In Neverwas, Blythe's home world, Humans and Demons are kind of in a reversal of what we see them as. Demons were the ancient species - the intelligent, peaceful kind who eventually have reached a point of near extinction. It's the Humans that are the trouble makers - they live by instinct and law, which doesn't make sense until explained, really.
Humans in this world live by a strict natural order. They don't do 'what they do' because they're told to by some higher power, but because it's in their blood. They don't think. They don't question. They simply do. And this is evident in population control. The Humans of Neverwas hardly ever surpass the age of 50. If they do, it's a miracle. There are several major holidays throughout the year where the Humans sacrifice family members because they can't die naturally. The only way a Human can die is by being killed. This is also to help make room for newborns. If a family adds a new child to its litter, then another family member must be sacrificed off at the next holiday.
Blythe is different. Blythe and her siblings are unique because they are the ONLY half-breeds in all of Neverwas. Her mother was born Human and, by chance, stumbled upon some books. She read them. She began to question and to think and was eventually kicked out of her home and town. Her mother met her father, who was one of the last 13 Demons. They fell in love, they had three kids - Tarrigen, Arachne, and Blythe herself.
But just because her mother was kicked out didn't mean her instincts left. Blythe's parents died when she was 4, so she was spared most of it, but her brother and sister had to be present when her mother had seizures and fits, particularly around these holidays. Her fits grew so bad at times, Arachne and Blythe had to be removed from the household.
The Human genes affected all three siblings. Tarrigen's temper grew as the years continued, and he was oftentimes as physically abusive as he was mentally. Arachne grew quiet over time and developed a taste of sado-masochism, quietly slaughtering woodland creatures and sometimes small children and then turning their corpses into 'art projects'. Blythe grew up relatively 'normal', until she was abandoned at 11.
Okay, so this is the part where it's actually RELATIVE to this community. While Blythe didn't pick up on any of the failed personality traits of a Human, the instinct is still there. However it is diluted. From the ages of 15 to 35 (the prime years for Humans), she has to suffer the same fits her mother faced. But only on New Years Eve.
Basically, Blythe has the overwhelming desire to kill humans. To bring order. Order includes finding a human, carving him or her open, removing the organs, lighting them on fire, and then turning the remaining open husk into a cradle - for any future children she may have.
Yeah.
The bulk of this desire for order will be the night OF New Years. Once midnight passes, she'll be okay, but until then - the longer she is kept from killing, the more out of control she'll become. Sometime around the middle of December, the urge to sacrifice will start. Blythe will start eyeing humans in Asgard first - Morana, L, Mitch, anyone. She'll be trying to talk to them - particularly the more gullible ones - and attempting to convince them that:
'Hey, Morana, you don't like your powers, right? Maybe we should just yank out your vocal cords! Think about all the good that'll do for you. And while we're talking about vocal cords, your lungs only make things worse...'
But, you know, she'd do it in her friendly galpal voice of reason. Because since Blythe doesn't intend to tell anyone about this (except perhaps Kain if they're still together and someone else close to her), you know, it would be weird to pinpoint it. In the beginning, at least.
So yes, I know this was a looooooooong explanation to something so SIMPLE, but I felt like I really wanted people to understand where I was coming from in this, not that I was pulling something out of my ass just for the sake of it. Especially since this is an Original Character, you know? I think sitting here and saying, 'lol my character is TOTALLY going to have a meltdown' would just make me want to take mySELF out back and shoot me.
But, ummm, yeah, thank you for reading this. ^_^
