Current mood: creative

Soundtrack
After conversing with several of the players, I thought i'd add a fun, extra little thing for players to enjoy.

Do specific songs make you think of a character (either your own or someone else's), a scene, a setting, or even an overall "Chaos Unraveled" theme? Don't be afraid - share them! Simply comment to this thread with the band name and song title. In addition, you can share a youtube or veoh link if you want people to be able to hear the music. The video does not have to be the offical one.

As a note to take care of any potential problems before they start though - don't be shy! If someone's already posted a song that makes them think of a character, and that same song makes you think of a DIFFERENT character, you can post it for that too! No one "owns" these songs except the creators of the music themselves, and this is just for fun so people can share their music when it somehow relates to CU. If you want, you can even post why the song(s) you're sharing make you think of what you're sharing it for. Whether it's silly, serious, or just plain enjoyable, don't be afraid to share~! Any kind of music goes - yes, even if it's a game theme or or musical number!

The format of each song shared will be:
Band name - song name (If there's a link) (Who it's posted by) Insert reason why here if you want to provide one.

Character Themes
Have a song that makes you think of a specific character within CU? Whether it's one of your own, someone else's, or an NPC, feel free to share the music!

Balam
Lifehouse - Sick Cycle Carousel (Youtube)(Mod)
Within Temptation - What Have You Done Now (Youtube) (Mod) This song describes an aspect of Balam's past that has yet to be discovered~! ...But won't be that all surprising, probably.

Christopher Carrion
E Nomine - Mitternacht (Youtube) (Lyric Translation) (Carrion-player) He has to have a song titled "Midnight." He is the Prince of that hour, after all!
Oomph! - Augen Auf (Youtube) (Lyric Translation) (Carrion-player)
Oomph! - Träumst Du (Youtube) (Lyric Translation) (Carrion-player) Why? This song asks, "Do you dream with me tonight?" It starts out romantic, but then becomes creepily demanding, which is perfect for this Prince.
Cradle of Filth - Nymphetamine (Youtube) (Carrion-player)

Alice Elliot
Natasha Bedingfield - I Bruise Easily (Youtube)(Mod) It's so like Alice, even though it's a "romantic" song. For now, this isn't targeted at anyone...xD
Charlotte Church - All Love Can Be (Youtube)(Mod) I see this as a song perfect for Alice because of how immediate her reaction is to do the best she can for them. After all, love isn't just the 'romantic' kind.
Yoko Kanno - Inner Universe (Youtube)(Lyrics) (Mod)

Eileen Galvin
Death Cab for Cutie - I Will Follow You into the Dark (Eileen-player) It deals with her attitude towards Henry.

Glitch
Squirrel Nut Zippers - Don't Fix It (Youtube) (Glitch-player)
Wizard of Oz movie - If I Only Had a Brain (Youtube) (Glitch-player)

Gin Ichimaru
Cherry Poppin' Daddies - Here Comes the Snake (Youtube) (Glitch-player)

Lina Inverse

L
Abba - Super Trooper (L-player) Will and L.
Natasha Bedingfield - Pocketful of Sunshine (L-player) Dorian and L.
Crazy Town - Butterfly (L-player) Blythe and L.
Alice Cooper - Poison (Youtube) (L-player) Light and L.
Gary Joules - Mad World (Youtube) (L-player)
Niccolo Paganini- La Campanella (Youtube) (L-player)
Voltaire - Ex-Lover's Lover (Youtube) (L-player) Kain and L.
Rufus Wainwright - Hallelujah (Youtube) (L-player) Blythe and L.
Something Corporate - Watch the Sky (Youtube) (L-player) Frank and L.

Lucifer
Kamelot - Requiem for the Innocent (Mod)
The Rasmus - The Last Waltz (Youtube) (Glitch-player)
Voltaire - When You're Evil (Youtube) (Mod) It just fits that well.

Metatron
Five For Fighting - World (Youtube) (Mod) Why? If Metatron could simply sing what he wanted to convey to people, I believe he would sing this song and Rob Thomas' Little Wonders.
Green Day - Boulevard of Broken Dreams (Youtube) (Glitch-player)
Vic Mignogna - Far From Home (Mod)
Rob Thomas - Little Wonders (Youtube) (Mod)

Midvalley the Hornfreak
Neil Young - After the Gold Rush (Midvalley-player)

Frank Sunderland
Tal Bachman - She's So High (Frank-player) Alice and Frank.
Neil Young - Old Man (Frank-player)

Event Themes
Does a song remind you of a specific event that's taken place in CU? Perhaps a fight between Mitchell and another character, or a quiet moment between two specific friends?

Queen - I'm in Love with My Car (Midvalley-player) for when Midvalley and Jazz drive to the party in Asgard.

Location Themes
Does a song make you think of a specific place within CU? Whether it's Asgard, Niflheim, specific rooms within them, or even someplace like Luminescent Lake, feel free to share!

Overall CU Themes
Does a song make you go: "This would be a neat theme for Chaos Unraveled"? Perhaps a song makes you think of a potential theme for all Niflheimers, or all Asgardians. Overall themes like that go here.

Chaos Unraveled
Michael Andrews - Mad World (Youtube) (Glitch-player)
Gamma Ray - Heaven or Hell (Youtube) (Mod) For some reason, I can just picture it as a sort of almost-cheesy opening theme to Chaos Unraveled, if it was a show.
Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny (Youtube) (Carrion-player) Why? Crack!parody song! It fits!

Asgard (Heaven)
Hirasawa Susumu - Parade (Shizuku Ippai no Kioku) (Youtube) (Glitch-player)
Incubus - Dig (Youtube) (Mod) Why? Give the song a listen. It's really touching, and I can really picture this song playing for lots of members of Asgard, especially when one of them is in need and another comes to help them.
Information Society - Peace and Love, Inc. (Mod)
Muse - Knights of Cydonia (Youtube) (Blythe-player) Because Asgard's definition of 'making things right' is a bit of a nicer thought than Niflheim's definition.

Niflheim (Hell)
Faith and the Muse - In Dreams of Mine (Youtube) (Glitch-player)
Rob Zombie - House of 1000 Corpses (Youtube) (Blythe-player) For the devilish deeds of the Niflheim House.
Squirrel Nut Zippers - Hell (Youtube) (Glitch-player)

I had to google the lyrics to Watch the Sky but wow... it does work and it's very touching in a way. (I'm touched by the whole Frank and L thing, what can I say.)

Oddly I was just about to use "Mad World" for a prompt on my Silent Hill fic writing community... It does really remind me of L.

Yeah, it's funny, but that song just seems perfect for the characters. I think that L feels like he has something of a guardian angel in Frank, especially after the Will affair. I think that meeting Frank was his first exposure to unconditional human decency, and he's sort of in awe of it, haha. :D

And "Mad World" does work, not so much in the sense that L feels ignored, but probably because he's treated as a symbol more often than a human being, and he's a voyeur of the world who is able to see things more objectively because he's not in the middle of them. It's also a deceptively simple song in many ways, which fits L's character incredibly well.

SHOULD KAIN BE CONCERNED?

It's funny how those two swing between hating each other's guts and being almost friendly.

lol, I know. I love it when they interact, because I never know what's going to happen! xD

I don't know if Kain should be concerned, per se... but I was listening to this on the way to work this morning, and just dying of laughter when I thought about L dreaming about killing everyone he suspects to have any sort of interest in Blythe in the form of a catchy murder ballad. ^^

Ha! Yeah, I don't think it helps that both of them are sort of unpredictable.

Hehe, I didn't think he needed to be, I was just giving you a hard time. Oh, I thought it fit L wonderfully, lol. Why aren't there more murder ballads?

I'm still giggling over the "credibility" statement last night. Kain is hilarious, and he brings out the wit in L. And they're both SO unpredictable!

lol, there should totally be more murder ballads. ^^

I hope at least some of you like heavy metal.

Alessa Gillespie

Akira Yamaoka featuring Mary Elizabeth McGuire - "Shot Down in Flames"

Well it is from the Official SH0 soundtrack, but I chose it because the lyrics reflect on Alessa. I also derived Alessa's IJ name from this song.

...And the dead
that you raise
live in me

What have you done?
You're insane
can you bring God down

Alessa and Blythe

Queens of the Stone Age - "The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret" Not the video, but the sound quality of the video there sucks.

I think the Blythe is one of the select people that Alessa's really revealed anything too, and she told Blythe not to tell anyone. Even still there's things that Alessa hasn't revealed to anyone.

"Oh hi! When I was six and seven I sort of killed people with my mind. I also sort of got this nice man to kill a couple of people. Oops!"

Asgard and Metatron

Tad Morose - "Anubus"

Well maybe it could have gone with Lucifer, but...no on second thought this song is just much to bombast and powered and something else to be Lucifer's song. But, really this song reminds me of Asgard with Metatron. I can't explain why, just watch the awesome video.

And I may come up with more later.

Asgard (Heaven)

Take me Faraway - Ohno Satoshi ☆ Lyrics + translation

It's quite a hopeful song, talking about how even though 'this' might happen, there's always a way to get through it, and that if you believe (hard enough) that the outcome you want will happen.

"Last night, I watched the sky quietly burn, the sun and the stars conducting a story
The believing world regains it's colour, if you just pay attention

I wrote down all the thoughts and feelings I felt, strong inside my chest
Even though I tried to convey them many times over with only written words,
Like a constellation floating faraway, the moments are being drawn
So as the silence continues to circle, I asked a question
Tell me why? Take me faraway"

Ok, first I'd like to say that I have strange associations to most songs in English language. I react more to melody and tone than the actual text, which somewhat explains why I chose the songs that I chose.

Anyway, without further ado...

Jazz
Clint Mansell - Lux Aeterna - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKLpJtvzlEI
Why? This song describes so well the darker side of Jazz; his killer instinct and warrior heart.
Joan Jett & the Blackhearts - I Love Rock N Roll - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3T_xeoGES8

Christopher Carrion
Meatloaf - I Would Do Anything For Love - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDUkioSLqeI
Metallica - Nothing Else Matters - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2qIiJTsxp0

Sal
Die Ärzte - Lasse Redn (Economy Version) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHPD8saHyoc (*)'
Why? Because it's about weapons.

Strix
Die Ärzte - Lasse Redn - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5ne6Yelufs (2)(*)
Why? Because of the criticism of society.

Jazz and Midvalley
Alice Cooper - Poison - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RRY0R0Xgl0

Niflheim
Steve Jablonsky - Scorponok - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEUuNT9Ckr0

Chaos Unraveled
Muppet Show - Mahnahmahnah - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynjIoymWHvU
Why? It is absurb, thus perfect for the premise of the game. And just too funny. (1)

(1) - Not sure who the musician/componist was.
(2) - This is a different song that the Economy Version.
(*) - I'll give a translation once I find one online or translate it myself.

After reading the books, I just can no longer see Carrion as a 'real' bag guy. He seems more Vader-esque to me, if that does even make sense. Kinda like a tragic anti-hero, because I have the feeling he would have become something dreadfully good for the Abarat if his lady love would have listened to him.

Yuki Kajiura - Vanity (Lyrics)
The links are to a Scrapped Princess AMV (mild spoilers, mostly the death of a beloved minor character). Pick the site you prefer: Veoh or YouTube.

Why? For the AMV, I love it. It has nice scenes of Zefiris's merging with Shannon (partial and full), for one (You think Jazz is a big ass robot? Zefiris could eat him.).
If you have four minutes, please please PLEASE watch it (assuming any spoiling is allowable). There's a scene (around 1:55) where Zefiris is standing in the rain (you can see raindrops in her hair) watching Shannon and Cz walk away together under an umbrella. She's utterly expressionless, but you know it must break her heart; that's how I play Zefiris.

And the lyrics: "I'll be there by your side" and "you may never know my devotion" applying to Zefiris and Shannon's relationship, from Zefi's POV, and "before the memories tear us into pieces" about Zefi concerning Beckenham's death.
