Dino Discussion :3
8D SO WHO WANTS TO GET CHASED AROUND BY THIS THING?:

Photobucket

Spinosaurus aegyptiacus. Bigger than the T-Rex :3

...I forgot how much of a dork I am about dinosaurs.

Like...

These bad boys were, in fact, just ugly, angry little turkeys. Okay, so maybe they were kinda cute, but that almost makes it worse. Mister Crichton, Mister Spielberg, how could you raise our hopes so high, only to dash them to the ground?

If anybody wants dino info, feel free to ask. I'm no expert, but I know where to look to help you find something scary for your kid(s) to run away from, or something big for them to trip over, or so-on, so-forth.

MST (Az so no daylight savings). I work nights though so I am awake at weird hours.

Would it be alright if I introduce L to the thread right after everyone starts running for their lives? I can think of plenty of reasons for L to be out and about in Emptiness, but I can’t think of any reason he would approach them unless he could gain something from it. :/

Great! So, anywhere you want this to happen? I'm thinking he's gonna pop up near Niflheim and then lead them on a merry little chase through some woods toward Asgard, so that people from both sides— like L —can get in on the fun :3

Anything you'd like to see?

Well, I just can't imagine anyone seeing him (in the red, there ^^) and standing still XD Whoever, whatever ^_^ Go for it!

I'm trying not to pull too heavily from Jurassic park XDD so the good(???) news is: there are no jeeps, no electric fences, and no ugly, angry little turkeys. At least not yet. X3 I'll start the log in a few hours, to give some more people a chance to jump in ^_^

It's probably a bit late, but can Jazz play with Spino, please?

Also, as I know next to nothing about dinosaurs that I didn't learn from Don Bluth and dreadfully small parts of Primeval, is there a dino-species that is small but annoying? I think Vader would like one of those following him around.

Not too late at all! 8D

Hahahahaha XD That's what Rufus is getting XDDD

Well, there's Mei Long</i>, a bird like guy, a little under 2 feet (.6 m) long, and weighing about 8 lbs (2.6 kgs.)

There's
Lesothasaurus, bipedal, with less feathers, and a bit bigger, at 3.3 feet (1 m) long.
A better pic

The Microraptor, one of the smallest dinos, at 42–83 centimeters (1.4–2.7 ft) long, and with a weight estimated at up to 1 kilogram. More feathers, again.
A better pic
Another better pic

There's Conchoraptor
scale pic

Saltopus at 23 inches (60 cms) long, not much bigger than a rabbit and about 2 lbs (.9 kgs)

and Wannanosaurus shown Less that 3.3 ft (1 m) long.

I officially love the measurement converter widget.

Oh my, I think I'm in love with Mei Long...

Now I cannot remember why I stopped reading my grandfather's old dino books (from the late 50s to early 70s).

Why do you love the measurement converter? Because you have problems thinking in foot/inch like me, or because you're not used to the metric system? I read somewhere that not the whole planet uses centimetres...

The Sleeping Dragon is very lovable. X3

Yes! XD I pulled out my old Dino Almanac yesterday >.> It's basically for kids 7-12 but who cares? It has pretty pictures :3

Haha yes XD Alas, this American can barely think in anything BUT feet and inches ^_^; Honestly, this country...

Why would anybody care if a dino book was written for kids? Dinosaurs and astronomy are the only two things in my experience that can suck both children and adults into their worlds. while working in kindergarten I learned that nothing get kids faster to be quiet than talking with them about dinos and other planets, like Mars for example.

And now my inner alien geek is waking up, so I'll better stop talking about planets or else I tell you about how I once bet to become the first owner of a currywurst stand on Mars.

Here in Germany we only use foot/inch (Fuß/Zoll) for plumbing or tv measurements and even that has become so old-fashioned that not many remember how it actually works. Everything else is metres etc.

Oh gosh. I wanted to be a paleontologist or an astronaut when I grew up XD I was determined to be the first person on Saturn... never-mind that it's gaseous. ^_^;;;

And, dude, I watched X-Files with my family as a kid, along with Star Trek (TNG and Voyager,) Sliders, Stargate (that's a little more recent ^^) and pretty much every other Sci-Fi show on TV. Not to mention all the movies :3 Alien geeks rock. Plus, I'm kind of curious about this currywurst stand now. I imagine that'd be some pretty expensive currywurst, until business picked up! XD

Yeah, scientists all use the metric system, and so do a lot of carpenters and other people whose work is centered around measurements. But the average folk like yours truly just keep on going with their inches and feet and yards and miles *eyeroll*

So, my idea:

the chase ends at Looking Glass Lake, where THIS mofo (the one with Nessie in his mouth :3) pops up out of the water and takes care of the problem for us. Spinosaurus most likely ate fish (sometimes XD) so its resemblance to a crocodile is more than just aesthetic. It could go wading in the water... >3 As it stands, I think Jazz might be able to beat up Spiny, but I thought this would be fun :D
