A poll, please participate!
So, you've got an opportunity here to direct the course of the game. There is currently some plotting in the works that should affect characters all over Chaos Theory:

  1. Damion Sorosin wants deity-types for his own nefarious purposes. He's already more or less ensnared Jack, David, Alainna, and Kari. He's working on Star and possibly Seth. He'd certainly like more. He's the owner of a major defense contractor running a secret project that involves the testing of various deity-types and trying to figure out what makes them tick with the ultimate goal (for him) of transferring a deity from someone into his own body. This will not work out the way he expects but he doesn't need to know that. Yet. The government thinks he's doing this to develop applications for use in the military. Which, he also is, but his side project seems to be getting people loyal to him, not the government.
  2. There's another government agency working on this in the shadows. We haven't heard much from them yet but they seem to have been around for a while. Some people who might not be missed much have been kidnapped off the streets of DC but so far everything is very hush-hush.
  3. There's also a couple of books floating around (one is owned by Damion and the other is in the possession of someone else [I forget who. *facepalm* Paul? Akana? Peter?]). These books speak of how the deities' downfall began and how they became what they are today. Word of warning though: they were written by a madman and may not be wholly accurate.
  4. And there is always the question of why everyone has shown up now, in this time, all in one place, something that hasn't happened...ever, most likely.

If you want to get involved? It's not that hard. But here's where you get to make a choice:

Are you interested in us mods creating and running game-spanning storylines that cover an arc to keep things moving?

Would you rather just run your own little storylines with no overall-game-spanning arc?

Note: even if there's a big game plot, that doesn't mean you can't do your own things, we won't force anyone to participate (that wouldn't be fun), but it would be nice if there was some direction to the game instead of everyone just sort of wandering around aimlessly.

So, go below, comment, tell us how you feel! If you've got ideas you want to explore, post those as well!

I forgot to mention, Alainna is currently throwing and afternoon garden lunch party thing that anyone who can conceivably attend is invited to show up to. Even if they're just crashing. Even if they heard about it from a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend.

Off the top of my head, that would include:

Val, Jack, Diana, Susan, David, Star, Jonah, Bob, Brigid, Ceara, Ali, Patrick, Peter, Paul, (Mary? Oh wait, that's Star), Akana, Bella, Nicky, Asti, Ant, Dan, Caitlin, and Sarah. I could probably make the others fit in if I thought about it long enough.

Basically: go! Mingle! :)

I thought Peter had one and Paul had one? Also, Akana made a copy of Paul's when he gave it to her, I believe.

Jag and I never finished up the Paul and Peter meeting and discussing their books and how fucked-up the world seems to be right now. We should really do that; even if you want to make it be happening now rather than several months ago? I don't think there's anything that would seriously affect how we play our characters that's happened.

She make a copy and gave the original to Seth for they were plotting to steal the one Damion has.

Because they are in cohoots. Or were. I've been a bit out of the loop.

Okay, it was Paul who found the original of the first book. He gave it to Akana who made several copies and gave it to Seth. Seth was supposed to find the second book which he has suggested Damion has.

Peter, however, found the second book, I think. Or had it but didn't know what to do with it. Or something. I forget how it came into his possession.

So this means Seth was either wrong or lying about Damion or Damion has some other book that's pertinent. Or someone made a copy after the original author wrote them.

Or you can have it be a trilogy of madman scribblings! Or something.

That, too.

Or a fake, really. And Damion, Seth and Akana all think Damion has the real one. Because damion DID show Kari a book at one point, in the last few months.

So, we have options.

And also, this is EJ....talking from a mod account for an unrelated game. Apparently.

Also! Let's see: I like the basic big plots that seem to be happening. I don't think, given the penchant for deities to create their own drama, that we need to push anything - if you two want to think up ideas, hooks, etc. for use in case plot stops happening, that wouldn't be a bad idea.

I would like to get Marie more involved in actual!plot instead of I'm-going-to-have-sex-with-Dagda-now plot. I think that will happen as the Celtic group's plans get going. I would also be interested in having her get tossed into Sorosin's pet project; I think Peter is much more inclined (for a number of reasons) to stick his fingers in the shadow agency.

More comments as I think of stuff!

Also, also, I would like to tell y'all that I have a TON of stuff (fics, articles, a new online game, etc.) that I have somehow committed to writing for over the past week. So if things are a little slow, I'm sorry: writing a gamer widow article that might get me some solid online recognition is taking priority.

And if anyone wants to know more about the whole shadowy govt.group - shoot me an email or ping me on IM since I have it stored in my noggin shortly to be typed up.

Direction sounds good. I like little plots but having some idea of where it's all going is nice.

I could see Bob getting noticed and approached by Damion but I'm not sure that Badb is the kind of deity Damion would want hanging around. Still, they could have an interesting conversation or two even if it doesn't work out.

Game-wide plots are good, but a lot of work? I'm looking at doing the same in NH possibly.

Also, my people (at least one) will show at the party thing, but I'm sort of unfocused at the moment.

Mm.

There was something else I wanted to add. But it went out the window. Eh.

I know they are. Partly this is also to draw attention to the fact that there /is/ stuff going on that people can get involved with. And partly because the concern was raised to me that CT seemed to be without a direction and that might be a turn off for players (or prospective ones).

Mm. Yes. Though in my opinion, the players should be the ones that drive plot. :)

I wants to ask you something when you get home too, btw.

It's not so much work as it is having a plot device that one can pull out when smaller player-driven plots are running slow. Also it can help with getting new people to interact with more than just their own pantheon.

It's just my two bits.

Yeah, I totally suck.

Um. You all have blanket permission to NPC Woody?

But adorable creepy boys who know more than they should are staples of all genres!

...okay, mainly horror, but still!
