Peter Torkarov ([info]setecastronomy) wrote in [info]chaos_theory_rp,

Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:nick o'brien, ongoing thread, peter torkarov, plot: bea's disappearance, plot: bea's kidnapping, shiloh winters

Who: Nick, Peter, Shiloh, Nick's parents
When: The morning after Bea's disappearance
Where: Nick's house and in transit

Ali, Marie, and Carole seemed to have come to some sort of truce regarding the kitchen, especially considering the number of people that needed to be fed this morning. Peter had barely slept, but coffee would fix that problem temporarily.

After they'd all eaten and showered, Peter glanced over at Nick. "You know, if you're going to camp out here for awhile, you might want to pick some things up. And I expect your parents would appreciate seeing you," he noted mildly. "Why don't I take you and Shiloh over, get you out of the house for a bit?"

Carole might appreciate that, too. Which he did not say aloud.

Shiloh nodded, "At least it's a weekend and we don't have school." She leaned against Peter, still tired and a bit drained. "Reassure your mother that we're mostly normal people and aren't eating your brains or making you do weird stuff." Shiloh finished with a touch of dark humor.

Nick snickered once, and offered her a half smile. "This is true. Mom wouldn't suspect mind eating zombies unless I called home and told here I was doing homework or something like that."

Peter smiled a little. "No school, no work. Time to make plans." He wrapped an arm around her, partly to support her, partly possessively. "I'm sure that being an upstanding member of the Agency, I can convince your mother that the worst I will do is try to steal her son away for work." Solemn nod. He had the feeling Nick wasn't much of one for government work, but it was funny to think about.

So. To the car, then; he snagged Shiloh's coat and wrapped it around her as they started out the door.

Shiloh shrugged herself into the coat, mentally amused at Peter.

Nick laughed, "Being a member of the Agency might make her not approve of you so much actually. She works at Fort Meade." He smiled for a minute, "Let's take my car."

He smiled down at her, quiet love showing while Nick was behind them. And then back to his usual self, "Well, this should be fun times for the whole family, then!" Ahem. Why yes, Peter was a bad bad man.

"Oooh. I get a chauffeur, and I don't have to show ID?" he grinned.

Shiloh bit her lip in amusement, "Dibs on shotgun." she called out before anyone could say anything else.

Nick grinned, "Done. It's just over this way."

He led them to an old Ford Bronco, faded dark blue paint.

He laughed, "Well, at least I get to stretch my legs out in the backseat." His long, far too prone to being cramped while traveling legs. That he might be showing off with jeans.

There was never a bad time to be thinking about sex for Peter. Especially not after what Star and Shiloh combined had done - or rather, not done - last night. A cold shower had helped some.

Shiloh let Peter get in first. She strapped herself into the passenger side and nodded at Nick.

Nick gave both of them a mischievous grin. "I suggest you hold on."

He took off, navigating DC traffic with ease and in under twenty minutes, they were pulling up to Nick's house on base.

Peter did, in fact, stretch his legs out as much as possible in the backseat. And was momentarily surprised at Nick's driving, but then settled back, pleased smile on his face.

"Where'd you learn that style of driving?" eying Nick as they walked up to the house.

Kele stepped forward as he saw his son's car pull up and his son laugh as he told someone else in the car, "Practicing on the reservation with my grandfather."

"Nick!" He exclaimed and then froze as he saw the girl that his son has just helped out of the car. It couldn't be. That couldn't be *her.*

"Ah so," he remarked, watching the other man through an air of nonchalance. "And you learned well." Slight smile. He wasn't quite planted behind the younger two in classic bodyguard style - but only because that would give away more of his training than he liked. "Is this your father, then?" A cool tone, neither welcoming nor sneering, as he caught the tension from Nick and Kele.

"This is the bum, yes." Nick replied, scowling at his father. "What the hell are you doing here?" He stared angrily at his father, "Didn't the repeated got to hell and don't come to see me messages get through? Or were you just assuming that they didn't apply to you, oh great and mighty special forces?" His tone was openly scathing. The only thing keeping him from trying to punch his father, was Shiloh's hand on his arm.

"Yes, i'm his father," Kele glared. "Who the hell are you?" this was directed towards Peter. He turned to Nick, "Watch your mouth, boy, I'm still your father and you're still my son. You'd better start showing me some respect."

He was ignoring the girl, she couldn't be here, and he was tired enough to be seeing things. Just an odd coincidence.

"A friend of a friend," he smiled, showing teeth. "And in case you hadn't noticed, your 'boy' is quite nearly a man." One hand on each of their shoulders, keeping them in place as he looked for a door that Kele wasn't by.

"Should we come back later?" he murmured, just loud enough for Nick and Shiloh to hear. "We've enough trouble without you punching him." Instinctive dislike for the man aside.

Kaya was almost furious as she walked over to her window to see Nick fighting with her soon to be ex-husband. She sighed irritatedly before going out to break up the fight.

She opened the door, cell phone in one hand, "Commander O'Brien, I am calling the MP's if you do not leave right now! We haven asked you to leave repeatedly and your continued ignorance of this request is grounds enough for a restraining order. Leave now before you hear from my lawyer."

Kele snarled once at them before finally leaving.

She turned to Nick and the two people with him, "Please come in, I'm Nick's mother, Kaya Teiwes."

Peter kept the smirk off his face until Kele left, staring down the other man. And not turning his back on the Ranger. Oh hell no.

"Peter Torkarov," he held out his hand. "I thought maybe you would want proof that your son still existed." Under the circumstances. "Plus, I think he'd like to pick up a few things."

He wasn't even aware that his hand was still on Shiloh's shoulder. Some of the tense rage had left, but the look on Kele's face when he'd seen Shiloh... that didn't bode well. At all.

Kaya nodded and shook his hand, "Thanks, the mother in me is very grateful." She smiled at the man, trying to place him. She was certain that she'd seen him before and she made it a point not to forget people, especially very handsome ones like this one.

She motioned them all to come in and after giving Nick a quick hug, the two teens scampered off to his room to pack his duffel, leaving her in the kitchen with the good looking man.

He grinned. "I sort of expected as much." After they'd gone upstairs, conspiratorially, "And I think Shiloh's aunt was more than glad to get the antsy teenagers out of the house for a few minutes."

Between the name, where she worked, and her face, Peter had easily placed her. But he was going to wait and see how long it took her to remember the talk he'd given about security measures on briefing papers. Or the schmoozing dinner they'd both been at - several years ago, when they'd both been happily not-single. He thought he remembered a paper she'd written as well - the intelligence community was insular and incestuous, so he wasn't sure.

Kaya laughed, "I bet she was." She pulled out some limonade for herself, "May I offer you something, Mr. Torkorov?" As soon as she said his name, it came back to her. The cute spook with the conference on security measures as it pertained to briefing papers. There was also a dinner somewhere in there, she thought to herself. "It's been a long time, since that dinner." She smiled wistfully. "How things have changed."

She took a small sip of limonade, "Is she yours then?" She asked him, meaning Shiloh.

He nodded. "Limonade would be wonderful, thank you." A flicker of a smile, tinged with some darker emotion. "It has, yes. Though I seem to recall a paper of yours in the meantime? About the relevance of Cold War cryptanalysis?"

"Her? Oh, no. I don't have children." Yet. And she wasn't his. Yet. "Her parents died in a car accident, and Carole took them in. I tutor Shiloh in English." And how to divide herself from Danu.

She poured him a glass. "Here you are. My own special recipe." She handed it to him, "That's good of you. The tutoring and all," She smiled.

"Oh! Yes, that was me. You read my paper?" She blushed slightly, it'd been a hobby of hers and then she'd decided one day to write a paper about it. It'd gotten great praise from other members of the intelligence community.

He took it from her carefully, maybe just barely touching her fingers. Maybe. "I was supposed to be getting out more. Be less of a workaholic." Wry snort, at that.

"I do try to keep up on the meanderings of the intelligence community," he said lightly. "It proves useful."

She smiled at him, the brief touch sending a small jolt through her body. "The Cold War codes had been a hobby of mine for a while and then I got a chance to write a paper on it for work and it made me quite pleased."

She shared his wry smile, "An intelligence operative who's a workaholic. Never happen, we're all well-adjusted people with no social flaws."

Another smile. He'd forgotten how fun casual seduction was. How easy.

"Our bosses never want us to work overtime or demand inhuman feats, we never spend sleepless nights turning over the latest problems in our minds, and none of us run on caffeine and will," he recited.

"You left out the part about how we have no idea how to BS or lie with nay sort of proficiency as well as no idea what plausible deniability actually is." Kaya managed to say with a straight face.

She grinned at Peter,"So how is everyone holding up? Is there anything I can do for you all? I mean with the disappearance and all."

"I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about." How was that for plausible deniability?

He blinked. "For a moment I thought you were asking about Langley. Which is as it's ever been." Wry face. "We've made contact with an FBI agent who handles these sorts of disappearances and has an excellent track record - Kieran Townsend, if that rings any bells - and I think he's trying to get assigned to the case. So that should be something."

He didn't think now was the time to tell her he suspected her ex-husband of being involved.

Kaya snickered at his statement, deniability indeed.

"Yeah, that's good, I pray you find her soon. Nick has been beside himself as I'm sure you all are." Kaya mentioned, "Shiloh isn't taking it well, from what I could see. Not that there's a way to take this well, but..." she trailed off and took another sip of limonade.

"I feel I should apologize for the behavior of my soon to be ex-husband. He's not normally violent like he was today. Something rattled him. Something more than just Nick mouthing off." She narrowed her eyes, " You wouldn't know anything about that would you?"

He nodded. "Thank you. We're doing what we can. Sticking together helps."

He tilted his head at her. "He probably thought I was a boyfriend. I was... as polite as was called for, while letting Nick fight his own battles." He had a feeling the boy wouldn't have accepted help unless things got physical - and even then, he wasn't too sure.

Hopefully that distracted her. Ma'am, I think your husband is involved with a secret plot to kidnap reborn deities and hold them hostage, because he recognized Shiloh without ever having met her. That would go over real well.

Kaya nodded, "The man, my former husband is wildly possessive. Used to be a good trait, now not so much. Boyfriend, hmm?" Now that's not a bad idea at all, she thought herself, just a lovely little fling with no real strings and just sex and companionship.
"Nick takes after his grandfather more than his father, thank the gods."

He shrugged a little, grinned down at her. "Thinking evil thoughts already, are you?" It was always nice to know he still had it. Even when he wasn't really trying.

"Nick's a good person," stopping himself before he said boy. "He cares a lot about Bea."

And then he wondered if whatever - Native American, most likely, his mind supplied from a corner - deity Nick was, his grandf- no, not if the man was still alive. But interesting all the same.

Kaya led him up to Nick's room. She peeked through the open door and had to stifle a laugh. There was the girl, Shiloh sleeping on Nick's bed, curled up in a ball in the middle of it. Nick had his duffle bag beside him and was asleep in his beanbag chair, feet propped up on his desk chair.

"I was right. See?" She moved so Peter could see.

Kaya looked at him assessingly, "And for you too, I warrant." She asked him in a low tone, as to not wake the kids up, "Do you want to catch a little sleep on the couch?
It's perfectly fine with me. Or if not that, want me to try and tackle those knots I know you've got in your shoulders?"
She meant that sincerely, no ulterior motive...well except that she'd get to touch him , but that was just a perk. She made this offer to most of the sexy handsome spooks that walked through her doorway.
