Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Current location:northwest DC
Entry tags:damion sorosin, open post, plot: shadow world, susan faust, valentin antila

Who: Damion and everyone who can conceivably be there.
Where: Damion's home
When: The afternoon of April 1

The whole thing had actually been Alainna's idea. Something about a spring afternoon garden party with practically public invitations. She'd lit up at the thought of planning such a thing and Damion hadn't cared to refuse her. It kept her distracted, anyway, which was preferable for him for now. And she seemed keen on inviting not only the sort of people they normally socialized with, but anyone she'd ever even briefly met. And most certainly she wanted those of her kind among them.

That was likely her consolation to Damion for humoring her with the party.

And it might actually manage to take his mind off his concerns of late. Off the fact that there seemed to be some other player in his game, on his turf. Someone involving themselves far too closely with the people he had taken a particular interest in. And the oracle-child could (would?) tell him nothing.

Better to play the charming host for a few hours, watch his wife smile, and possibly get a few hooks into a few new people.

At least Donovan seemed to be coming along nicely. And Matheson, if he could learn to keep a reign on his temper. Among others.

She hadn't meant to come. Mostly because she would barely know anyone here; it wasn't her usual social circle. Alec had persuaded her to come, in the end, pointing out with his usual sardonic tones that it had been a while since she'd voluntarily gone to an event to make new friends, and that she had to venture outside of the social circles of the handlers of the dead at some point.

This resulted in an extended discussion of archaeology versus medical and criminal forensics and in Susan actually being almost late to the party.

But, there she was, alone and wandering around feeling awkward. But not showing it. She'd never show it.

But there was an Alainna, and she was smiling brightly when she caught sight of Susan. Also, luckily, it was the sort of party one didn't have to show up on time to. Or stay for the entire time, if they didn't need or want to.

After a few moments, Alainna was able to extricate herself from the conversation she currently found herself in with one of her husband's employees and weave her way through the crowd to where she'd spotted Susan.

"Susan! Hello!"

"Hello..." Susan smiled a little. All right, so there was at least one person here that she knew.

Which she still wasn't telling Alec because then she'd never hear the end of it.

"This is... quite the party." Quite the intimidating, chattering, potentially hazardous party. "Any particular occasion?"

Patrick chcked the address on the side of the building. "Looks right." He muttered to Ceara as they approached. "I hope it's right." He kept a smile on his face and tried to find someone he recognized.

"Of course it is," Ceara kissed his cheek, "It'll be fine. Parties like are just places to network and socialize. The Sorosins are not known for throwing boring parties either."

She fiddled slightly with her dress before bringing out her party smile, learned from so many years of helping her mother get ready for parties and other diplomatic functions.

She wasn't coming to the event because it was something she normally liked to do. But she was there to see what Damion had in his home, to maybe see what he knew...

To take a more active role before Seth accused her of being weak, and unworthy of her former titles.

Titles she was giving way to him either way.

So she was there, dressed in designer clothing and very much a woman of money.

Jack was, more or less, only making a short stop at Damion's. He was dressed in a suit, a car provided by the company waiting outside with his bags and briefcase to take him to the airport once he'd rubbed elbows enough.

Smiling he greeted the staff with a smile, his curled blond hair brushed back into a sleek, professional appearance. Smiling he took an offered drink, before waving at Damion from across the way.

He had a flight in 5 hours, and would arrive in Germany with just enough time to get off the plane, shower, change and head to his German office for his first business meeting with the future CO of Acheron International.

Helena had insisted that her son Valentin attend the Sorosin's garden party.

A few days previously before the party she had prattled off into his ear how she regretted her business in Milan had kept her from getting on a plane and jetting straight over for the party herself. She had briefly mentioned meeting the couple at some sort of prestigious affair in New York that may have been a benefit to help raise money for some sort of charity, but Valentin had hardly been paying what his mother said half the attention her words had required while he took more interest in browsing the internet.

An hour into the phone conversation she had also mentioned how Valentin's father Visa had mentioned to her how influential that Alainna Sorosin's husband Damion was in the business world and how it would be a missed opportunity to not attend the party and make connections. Valentin did not care to do anything his father wanted him to do, but then his mother had finally bribed him to attend by promising him that if he went to the party along with passing the required driver's licensing test that he could have his pick of car he wanted.

And so it was that with a regal and haughty air that the young Valentin Antila strolled onto the scene of the party with a waifishly thin girl on his arm. He'd wanted Galen to attend the party with him, but his boyfriend did not desire to go, and his mother had insisted to his regret that he not go stag.

He found the girl his mother had set him up with obnoxious, hardly tolerable, and couldn't wait to shake her from his arm to her offense.
