Who: Shiloh and Peter
Where: National Mall
When: Saturday

Shiloh'd been walking in the Mall again. She'd just finished touring the Holocaust Museum and the National Archives. She'd seen most of the Washington museums now and she'd enjoyed most of them. The Holocaust museum had just made her angry though. Such a waste, such a loss! She had to go out to the Mall to walk and try to clear her head before rejoining her sister and going home.

She looked over to where the humans walked briskly, hurrying back and forth to their occupations, busily running through the skeins of their lives. Just then she thought she saw a familiar face.

He was sitting, actually, not too far from where he'd first met Janus/Bill, though the vet didn't seem to be around today. Eating lunch. He had a presentation to give on security in southern Africa Monday, and it was nice enough out that he thought he'd walk the Mall while rehearsing in his head.

Not that Peter was easily intimidated or that he couldn't do off-the-cuff speeches well. He just preferred being prepared, and even he was still slightly awed every time he went to the White House.

He hugged her back, careful to keep it familial - by modern standards - since they were in public. And she was a teenager in this body. Which was a bit disconcerting.

"And you," he was still smiling. Those who knew Peter would be somewhat amazed to see him smiling, not to mention talking to anyone younger than 25. "...which one?" he teased. "The Dagda? I didn't know he was here."

"I'd noticed that. I wonder that we are all drawn to this place." Danu mused for a moment.

"Morrigan and Ap Nudd are seeing each other. She's a college student at the University of Maryland, studying Mechanical Design...Macha is dancing around this boy Nick. He's an interesting one. Haven't quite placed him yet." She went on to tell him about each of their kin while surreptitiously stealing some of his food.

	Ogma nodded, processing the information and locking it away carefully. "There's one of the Babylonians, several Egyptians, at least one Greek - no, make that two - and one or two I can't yet place." He mweeped her nose. "Silly."

"It's certainly a center of power..." thoughtful, "but apart from that I'm not sure. There is something else," he switched languages, "but I won't bring it out in public, and I'm not sure I want the Morrigan and the others to see it until I've met them this time around."

"It describes how we ended up reincarnating, more or less," he said, very quietly. "It worries me for a number of reasons. Also, and on a tangentially related note, Ishtar and I have a daughter." Even if there was no ring on his hand, and a faint look of pain showed as he mentioned her name. Perhaps it would have been more visible had they not been in public. "I believe that is all the important things."

Well, excluding his past in this life, which he would steadfastly ignore.

He rested his chin on top her head briefly. "She is. Beautiful and intelligent and precocious as all hell."

A nod. "I would like to take the measure of the others - I haven't," and that was a flash of memory that he suppressed quickly, because past lives were not this one, "seen more than you and Dagda very often throughout the centuries, I don't think. And I know one of the Egyptians - Seth - is even more insane and dangerous in this life than he was then. A danger to all of us. His name is Seth Mallory; I will make sure to bring a picture when we meet so everyone has an idea of what to stay away from."

Or, in certain cases, seek out. He had a feeling the war goddesses would have opinions about Seth.

Danu giggled, "I understand, my anamchara. It is good for you to meet them too and them to meet you. We've not been together truly since the old days."

"Words my earthly parents used to describe us as small children." Danu mused wryly, the pang of her parents' deaths less so now that she had found her Ogma.

"We will be extra cautious then since this man is about. I thank you for the warning." She tilted her head slightly at him. "How I've missed you," she told him with a content sigh. "Life feels incomplete when you and your brother are not in my life."

"Yes. Which worries me, that we're all here, around and about and many are aware of who they are."

He eyed her for the tone of voice she used about her parents, but didn't ask. She would tell him, or not, in her time.

"There is also... someone else, possibly merely an enemy of Ishtar's mortal self, possibly something more. She was kidnapped recently - returned safely, but nonetheless. My training in this life is turning out to have its advantages." He only smiled, almost blushing. "It is good to have someone else who remembers and understands again. Better that it's you."

"It is a matter of concern for me as well. For those that know and those that do not. For some of them know just enough to be quite dangerous to themselves and others." Danu mused. "And there comes the question of us. Do we educate them or leave them be? Do we dare to make that choice for them?"

Danu nodded, " I will be extra cautious. It is good that your skills are so useful."

Danu shot him a brilliant smile, "Yes it is. I am so glad to have run into you again, anamchara."

He frowned a little. "We'll see how... close they are to already knowing. As I understand, many of us start with dreams or speaking in our original tongues before the mind accepts the truth. Take it on a case by case basis. And as for when we meet, I admit to a certain degree of concern over how seriously the others will take you if they're not aware of who they are." Not that he wouldn't either run the meeting for her, with prearranged signals, or back her when someone questioned her. And yet.

A smile. "Here. Call me if anything happens. Probably best if I don't call your home and get questioned as to why I want to speak to a teenager."

Stupid human notions of age.

"Of course we will." Calm, but proud of the faith she had in him.

And then he had a thought, and started laughing, hugging her back, "Oh. Oh, that is too perfect - does you school have the Big Brothers-Big Sisters program? Where you sign up for a mentor?" Because then they could check in with each other once a week, he would be commended for volunteering. Plus, the irony was going to kill him.
