Cooking for Kitty: (Ooc plot locked please)
Who: Lee Adama, Kara Thrace, Kitty Pryde
Where: Lee and Kara's suite


Lee has been busy in the Kitchen for several hours by this stage, desert is chilling and the roasted beef joint resting on the side. He looked at the clock things were nearly ready.

He allowed himeself a moment to breathe. He is a little jumpy. Kitty had become a really good friend to him since his and Kara's arrival Here. He wanted things to go well. He checks the place settings on the table and tries to stop faffing.

Kara is getting ready in the bedroom mainly to keep out of his way.

Lee checks the clock again, Kitty will be arriving soon.

"Kara," He calls. "You ready yet?"

She glances up from the pad, where she's been drawing all afternoon.

Frak, is that the time? She shoves it away and climbs off the bed.

"Yeah," she calls back, pulling open the wardrobe door and reaching for the few 'good' clothes she had. Even the fact that they were free didn't mean that she cared about clothes most of the time.

She grabs the one pair of jeans she picked up, and a red tank top that she hasn't worn before, and runs a brush through her hair. She doesn't bother with shoes.

She'll do.

She opens the bedroom door, and inhales sharply.

"Mmm, smells good," she says.

"Glad you think so." Lee can't help grinning.

"You look great." He says moving towards her and pulling her in for a quick kiss.

"I think everything is just about ready." He's feeling pleased everything has gone just about according to plan. Mustard glazing aside. Lee squeezes her hand and returns to the kitchen, making the final sweep of checks on the food.

Kitty is nervous.

She hasn't been over to someone's place for dinner in, like, ever - not Here, anyway. She's dressed casually, because she knows it isn't a fancy thing, but her jeans are nice and she's put her hair up and she's wearing a red shirt with a white pinstripe in it that she thinks spiffs up the outfit nicely.

Her sneakers make no sound as she approaches the room but then, she doesn't usually make a sound when she moves, anyway. Bottle of white wine from one of the bars in one hand, she lifts the other and knocks three times in a row on the door.

Breathe, Pryde, breathe.

She kisses him back, leans against a counter as he darts around checking the food. It's cute how ... domestic he's being.

There's a knock on the door, and she straightens up.

"I got it," she says, squeezing his arm reassuringly as she passes him.

She opens the door and smiles at Kitty.

"Hey," she says, stepping to the side. "Come on in."

Lee smiles gratefully at Kara as she goes to the door.

He watches as she ushers in Kitty.

Lee puts down the pans a broad smile on his face.

He joins Kara and Kitty and gives her a hug. "Glad you could come."

Kara welcomes her in, wearing red and denim, which Kitty thinks is cool because she's wearing red and white and denim.

"Hey," she says, stepping inside, smiling. "Thanks. Nice colour."

Then Lee is there, giving her a hug, telling her that he was glad she had come. A bit overwhelmed, she hugs back with her free arm and says, "Sure. Wouldn't miss it for the world."

She doesn't get out much, and it was really nice to be invited. She holds out the bottle of wine with her other hand.

"Brought you something," she says, her voice a little muffled by Lee's chest. He's a big guy compared with Kitty.

Kara grins. "Right back at ya."

Lee hugs her, and Kitty makes him look huge, she's so small. She smirks, amused, and reaches out to take the wine bottle.

"Thanks," she says. She feels odd, this is very domestic, and not something she's used to. When she'd had her own place before Galactica, guests had always meant bringing a pizza and some beer, not wine and a home cooked meal...

Lee lets Kitty go from his hug, he's pleased to have her here.

He smiles at Kara whose ended up with the wine and she has a bemused look on her face.

"I haven't done a meal like this since..." he trails off because he remembers it would have been his honeymoon with Dee. "I don't know when, so if things haven't worked out that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it."

Lee ushers Kitty into the room properly and gestures towards the couch.

"Can I get you a drink? We seem to have the full complement, take you pick."

Kara takes the bottle from her hand, which is a relief as she was wondering if she might drop it.

"Well, I'm delighted to be here, to witness this special occasion." She pulls her shirt down - it had ridden up with the hug - and smiles. "And who needs an excuse to cook?"

Not that she really bothers. With the restaurants Here, she's become lazy. Lee gestures to the couch, so she sits down and tries to relax.

"Um, sure. Wine would be nice."

Kara laughs.

"I do," she says to Kitty, smiling. "Though really, people need an excuse to eat my cooking. But Lee here, he's a fantastic cook," she says.

"Wine it is." She makes her way into the kitchen to open the bottle, leaving Lee and Kitty to talk in the living area.

"I hope you like beef, I remembered that you didn't do pork." Lee rambles on just pleased to have Kitty here, he kind of wants to show her how good things have got with Kara.

Kitty raises an eyebrow and glances at Kara.

"I'm sure she doesn't burn water, Lee. That takes a special talent. And I love beef. It smells delicious."

She looks away for a moment, pretending to take in the room.

"Oh, yeah, you know. There's always so much going on around Here..."

"But believe me her cooking is not good." he grins cheekily and he is proud of how his the dinner is looking.

Kitty seems a bit, well overwhelmed is the wrong word. "We banter a lot Kara and I." he says by way of explanation. "You fly with someone long enough you can rib them about anything."

He is however still concerned with Kitty. "Yeah, always people to meet if you go out and find them."

"I'll take your word for it," she says, smiling slightly. "And yeah, we do that on our team, too. The banter stuff. It's a bonding thing, I guess."

He keeps her talking, but he has that look about him, like the one he gave her at the pool. The 'are you okay?' look.

Pull it together, Pryde. Happy people are allowed to be happy, especially after all the shit these two have been through.

Kitty gave him a bright smile. "Yeah, lots of people and more arriving daily. Good thing this place is big."

She comes back out with glasses and the bottle, opened. She puts them on the table and fills the glasses.

"It's true, I probably could burn water," she admits. "You got me beat on that one, Apollo." She grins at Kitty, and hands her a glass.

"But I can kick your ass at lots of other stuff, and cooking is boring, so I can live with it," she finishes, winking at Lee as she hands him a glass.

She looks back up at Kitty. "We're also kind of competitive," she says, grinning. "Just a little."

She sips her own wine, feeling relaxed in spite of it all. It helps that Kitty is nice, and this isn't too fancy.

Kitty keeps talking but he can see that its just surface. Well if that's where she wants to keep it, tonight is meant to be enjoyable.

"Yeah, although there seems to be rooms enough." He shrugs.

Kara returns with wine and banter. "What things do you kick my ass at?" he asks with a smirk.

"Cooking is boring is it? So you won't be wanting any of the food I cooked for this evening Starbuck"

Despite his mocking tone he still squeezes Kara's arm affectionately.

"We should eat soon, its all ready."

She accepts the glass of wine from Kara and laughs lightly.

"Oh, I can picture you two being competitive. So, he'd beat you at cooking and you'd kick his ass at everything else?"

Kitty has a sip of the wine and tries to relax. These are nice people and Lee, in particular, has been an absolute doll. He's giving her one of those looks now - the 'concern' thing, like at the pool - but he really shouldn't worry. She'll relax - eventually.

Someday.

"And I brought my appetite, so whenever the chef says dinner is a 'go', I'm set." She looks from one to the other again and says, "This is really nice. Thanks."

"Like Kitty says, everything," she says, smugly. "Triad, Pyramid... flying," she adds, teasingly. Its not technically true, they're probably about the same when it comes to flying, at least, but its something they tease each other about a lot.

She sips her wine - not something she drinks a lot of, but this is good wine.

"And I said cooking is boring. Eating is fun."

"C'mon then, lets start eating, so we can see how good you really are," she says, getting to her feet.

Lee can't help but smirk at Kara, ever the viper jock.

"Yeah but I'm the better boxer, don't need to resort to dirty tactics." He raises an eyebrow knowing that will get a rise out of her. And he loves doing that, their competitiveness might be difficult for those on the outside to penetrate but its part of what makes them strong.

Lee sips his wine.

"Well come on then," he says standing. Grinning at Kara's new challenge.

"You can give me marks out of ten."

He let's Kara lead the way towards the dining area and hangs back a second for Kitty.

"What you see is what you get with us." He says by way of explanation and smiles.

"I don't know Triad or Pyramid, but I know boxing," Kitty says as Kara stands and heads for the table. "So, you guys box one another?"

At Lee's summary, she adds, "I'm pretty WYSIWYG, too, so no problem, dude." She approaches the table. "Does it matter where I sit?"

She laughs as they make their way to the table.

"You're better than me at boxing cos of a fluke of biology," she says, leaning over to punch his arm lightly. "If I had muscle mass like that I'd kick your ass without needing to cheat."

She grins at Kitty's question, meeting Lee's eyes. "Yeah, we do, sometimes," she says. "And I don't cheat all the time."

"No, I don't think so," Kara says. She doesn't do this whole dinner thing very often, so she looks to Lee for help.

"Yeah she just likes to hit me." Lee quips. "And no she doesn't always cheat, just most of the time."

The table in the dining area isn't that large big enough to seat four, Lee had earlier in the day set places but hadn't assigned seats.

"Anywhere will do, just sit drink and I'll bring the food across."

He disappears to the kitchen and carves the beef that has been resting while Kitty arrived. It looks and smells fantastic. He plates it up, and carries the three plate back to the table.

"One moment, veg and gravy to come." He disappears again and comes back with bowls of steamed carrots, broccoli and potatoes.

"Dig in." He smiles taking some potatoes for himself.

"Ah, yeah, the 'upper body strength' card," she says to Kara's comment. "That can work to their disadvantage, though." She sighs and picks a seat at random, sipping her wine and admiring the food as it comes out to the table. Her eyes widen.

"Have you, like, been cooking all day or something? This is awesome!"

And as Lee serves himself some potatoes, Kitty reaches for the broccoli.

She shrugs. "Everybody needs a hobby," she teases.

"Yeah, it can," she says to Kitty. "Sometimes, though, I use other means to even the score a little."

She slides into a chair, smiling at how proud Lee is of all the food.

"Looks great," she says, and helps herself to food. She doesn't shovel it into her mouth like she usually does, makes an effort to be good.

"It wasn't all day, just a couple of hours this afternoon and it was nothing, I liked the excuse to cook something properly for once." He smiles warmly really pleased.

"Kara you don't use other means you just blatantly cheat." The tone is mocking and he squeezes her knee under the table.

"Any one want anymore wine" He asks topping up his own glass.

"There is plenty of everything, I can always get more."

They bounce off one another with witty chatter and warm glances, brief touches that linger long enough to mean something - and Kitty sighs.

She knows from Lee that they've been through a lot to get where they are right now, and they probably have far to go yet, but man, they are so together. She feels a bit like a third wheel, but plans on enjoying the evening.

"Ah, no. I've got lots of wine, thanks."

Kara shakes her head. Wine's not really her thing. She takes another sip of hers while she eats her meal. It's gorgeous, Lee's outdone himself. She finishes up and leans back in her chair with a satisfied sigh.

"That was so good."

Lee eats his fill of the main course smiling encouragingly at Kitty every so often.

He feels somewhat protective towards her, and he still feels bad about the time at the swimming pool.

"I have a confession to make." He says with mock seriousness. When they've all done eating. "Dessert was ordered in."

He get's up to clear the plates.

"Chocolate gateaux." he says. "Good for you Kitty?"

"I... am so full," she says finally, pushing her plate away. At the mention of dessert, she groans. "Oh, God, I dunno..."

Then Lee describes it and she bites her bottom lip.

"Oh, my. Okay, yeah, I have a small spot left just for that cake, Lee."

"Sounds good. I'll get these, and bring it out," she says.

She's really trying to be the good hostess here, and hopes she's doing it right. Not only should it confuse the hell out of Lee, but she's pretty sure it'll earn her lots of brownie points.

"There's extra cream in the refrigerator." he adds as she disappears into the kitchen.

Lee turns to Kitty, "I'm glad you've left room for the cake because it really does look good, and if it tastes half as good as that then we should be in for a treat."

Lee likes desserts a lot.

Kara emerges from the kitchen with two plates with generous slices of cake on them.

"It looks good," she says, grinning at them. She ducks back in to grab her plate, forks, and the cream.

She takes a forkful and moans appreciatively. "Very very good."

Kara brings in the cake and Lee tucks into his portion.

Kara moans with cake and Lee arches his eyebrow.

"The cake looks delicious," Kitty says, thinking that if they didn't have a guest, they'd probably be feeding it to one another or something. Couples did that sort of thing, right?

And these two are definitely a couple.

She rolls her eyes and grins. "Oh, yeah, Lee. You've got it rough. Chocolate and a pretty blond. My heart bleeds."
