Chillin in the lobby
Who: Max Guevara and OTA
When: Sunday evening after some chow
Where: Chilling in the lobby, taking her shift for new arrivals.
Status: Incomplete.

*Max was wondering how Sam was? She hadn't seen that much of him at the wedding, but he looked really hot in tux. She knew she'd see him doing some manner of his schedule. She just didn't see him as much as she used to see him. With Dean becoming a hermit, well...they never got out much and did the fun things they used too. It was always a schedule. She was playing with a knife, cleaning her nails, reading a book on Picasso, because it reminded her of Big Fella. She missed Joshua something fierce. She was so used to taking care of him, Alec and Terminal City. Being Here was beginning to chap her ass. Bother her at your own cost.*

Abby is dressed in her typical black ensemble - t-shirt with smiley skull-face, trousers with chains hanging from the studded belt, chunky black boots which went up to her knees - and is reverently holding an ultra-huge container of iced coffee, complete with straw, which she's just acquired from one of the cool bars Here.

She enters the Lobby, sipping away happily, and sees a young woman reading a book and playing with a knife. She thinks she's seen her around, but hasn't really introduced herself yet. Taking this as a further sign that she really needs to get out more, she approaches the young woman.

"Hey," she says brightly.

*Max starts to spin the knife around in her hand as she is reading, her brow furrowed slightly. She hears someone saying hello to her, she looks up, but doesn't stop twirling her knife.*

Hey. *She nods her head to the pretty girl with the many tattoos.*

What's up? Ya new here? *Eying her, she suspects she was the girl she ran into when dean first showed up and she took off into the woods.*

Actually, I think I seen ya 'round come to think of it. Names Max.

Oh, the knife twirling is a neat trick, and Abby makes sure she doesn't crowd the woman.

"New? Nah. Just don't get out much." Then she thinks about it and adds, "Actually, I don't know how long I've been Here. I arrived before the explosion, though. You?"

At being introduced, she holds out her free hand and says brightly, "Abby."

"Uh, I been Here almost a year now. It's been long and the days bleed together, boo." She twirled the knife once more and threw it up. It spun a few times and then it stuck into the ceiling. It vibrated slightly as it made a 'ca-chunk' sound.

Max eyes the proffered hand. Her eyebrow arches. She nods softly and replies. "Abby, right." She looks her over again. "You always this bright and cheery, it's makin' my head spin."

Abby watches the knife closely and her head vibrates slightly along with it when it becomes embedded in the ceiling. She looks down at Max and the hand which Max hasn't shaken yet, then places both hands on her iced coffee.

"A year? That's a chunk of time. And sorry, yeah, I'm like this a lot... except when I'm not. You'll know the difference." She drops her voice to a whisper. "I'll try to keep it down..." Looking back up at the knife, she asks, "So. How're you going to get that back?"

"Yeah, and it's pissin' me off the more I realize I can't go home. I can't even ride my bike."

Max's head slowly tilts up and watches the knife.

"Like this." She smacks the wall close by with her palm a little hard, the handle of the blade sways back and forth and suddenly comes loose and falls down toward Max, who is now watching Abby. She reaches out, eyes still on Abby and catches the blade.

"It's all good, Boo. Jus' this guy Alec was always bubbly and annoying, you ain't the annoying part. Even though he is a sociopath, he still always pissed me off. It pissed me off cause no matter how much he smiled or how bubbly he could be, he would always do somethin' retarded or asinine an' I always had to clean his messes up."

"You've got a bike Here? Oh, did you run out of gas?"

When she hit the wall and the knife drops, Abby is transfixed. She knows she should probably move, but she can't seem to tell her feet that. Her eyes follow the path of the knife and she gasps when Max catches it.

"Wow! That is so cool." She swallows and looks from the knife to Max's face. "And I am so glad that you don't find me annoying." She manages a small smile. "So, this Alec guy. You miss him, huh?"

"Well, where I come from it is like a third world country, in Seattle. We pay nine dollars per gallon for whenever we manage to get a gas truck in our district. I didn't have a ton of gas when I got Here and I don't want to waste it, just in case."

She studies the girl and gives a half smile.

"Why would I find ya annoyin', Boo." She clears her throat when she mentions Alec and nods softly.

"Yeah, yeah I do. Him and his fool ass. I miss my boo too and he lives Here."

"Wow. The price of gas isn't that bad where I'm from. Nine dollars? You're from a different Seattle than what I know of it. Been to a couple of conferences there. Good coffee."

She sighs. "As for the annoying part? I tend to babble. Some people don't know how to deal with it, so they don't. Deal with it, that is. And... I'm sorry about your friend."

Abby sits on the floor, cross-legged, in front of where Max is sitting.

"Who is your boo?"

"Yeah, where I come from is from your future, kid. The year is 2021 where I come from." She listened to everything the girl had to say, twirling the knife in her hand, going at a soft blur. "Well then, they stupid. It's how you is, ain't no shame to that. People, I just don't get people, prolly why I fight so much?" she muses for a moment. The tall gothchic sits on the floor and asks her who her boo is and Max clears her throat. This Max is a little colder and more clinical. "His name is Sam Winchester, then I got a girl Boo, she just a friend though...her name is Kitty. Small boo, big roar. She coo', you'd get along I think."

She smiled slightly at being referred to as 'kid', but didn't make anything of it. She listened to Max talk, telling it like it was - as far as Abby could tell, anyway.

The tone changed when the 'boo' people were defined.

Abby didn't recognize either of the names, but Sam was barely mentioned while Kitty was given a personality.

Hmmm...

"I don't think I've met either one," she said, smiling up at Max. "I'm pretty easy-going, though, so if you say I'd like Kitty, I'm sure we'd get along great." Then it was her turn to clear her throat. "So. Picasso." She nodded to the book Max was holding. "I take it you like his art?"

[[ OOC: And no rush here, either, just wanted to check and see how you'd like to proceed with this? Shall they continue to chat or shall we wrap by saying that they continued to chat? :) ]]

"I had a friend back home. He was a lot like Picasso when he paints. I was kinda sittin' here thinkin' about him. Joshua, he was my best friend."

She thought more about Sam then and more she thought about him, the more angry she got. His sudden withdrawal. It was so like a slap in the face. Her face was static, except for her eyes, which seemed saddened.

"Wow. I really admire people who can do stuff like that. Joshua must be pretty good to be compared with Picasso. I do some photography, but the subjects are a bit odd, so some people freak out at it, you know?"

She thought Max was trying to keep it all together, but her eyes gave her away. Not wanting to make the woman self-conscious at all, but wanting to help, Abby said, "You're... not having the best day, are you? It's pretty weird Here, isn't it? But hey, if we stick together, we'll be more ready to face the weirdness, right?"

"Well, he is, I always said he must have some Picasso in his cocktail. Well, we all got things people can freak over, it's life." She said in regards to her photography.

"Huh? What, no! I'm fine." She said in protest. Her heart not completely in it. "Yeah, face the weirdness, together. I came to think that was true, but it ain't." She countered.

She decided not to ask what a cocktail would have to do with anything.

When Max said that she was fine, Abby didn't really believe her, but then the place was crazy-stupid and if you were Here long enough, it probably got to you some days.

Abby knew it got to her.

"I'm sorry you don't think it's true," she said softly. "I guess I'm too much of an optimist, though I have my days, like evryone else."
