Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:gwen cooper, jack harkness, martha jones

Who: Martha, Jack and Gwen (ooc: plotlocked)
Where: Room 104.

Martha hops out of her shower and dresses in a simple top and a pair of jeans. She towel dries her hair next, and then pulls it back into a simple ponytail before checking her watch. She has about five minutes before Jack and Gwen are scheduled to arrive at her door, and leaves her bedroom to take a seat on her sofa and wait.

(ooc: order - Jack, Gwen, Martha OR Gwen, Jack, Martha depending on who comments first.)

Jack pauses outside Martha's door, wondering if he should've tried showing up naked anyway, just to see her reaction. He sighs. Gwen is going to be here, too, of course, and he doesn't want to traumatize either of his friends.

Well, not much.

He knocks on the door, shirt buttoned, fly done up, belt fastened and everything. He's being good, really.

When she hears the knock on the door, she gets up, stopping just before opening the door to check her shirt and make sure she's not in need of button fixing - though she definitely had not minded - before opening the door.

"Jack! We're just waiting on Gwen, then." She says, stepping back to let him inside.

Gwen skidded into view a few seconds later, having overslept by accident. "Sorry I'm late, wish there was an alarm stuck in the infamous bag" but she was looking much better and sounding almost like her old self again, minus the nightmares and missing Rhys.

Jack had barely made it in the door when Gwen tore down the hall, apologizing. He stepped aside so she could enter the room and so Martha could shut the door.

"Great. We're all here, so..." He pulled a length of rope from his back pocket. It was neatly tied in a bundle with a red ribbon. He held it out and grinned. "So, who wants to be tied up first?"

Martha shuts the door behind Gwen and Jack and turns to face them, ready to start this meeting. She grins though, crossing her arms over her chest. "Business first, then pleasure, Captain."

Since it's Gwen that asked for the meeting and she's only housing it, she looks at her the other woman. "So...what would you like to know more about?"

"I just need some answers about this place" Gwen was honest. She told Jack and Martha everything she had pieced together while sick,"I just remember working on that box Tosh found in her desk drawer since it was driving her bonkers. That's rare as it is after all and when I slid the last piece in I found myself ankle deep in crazy to borrow a line from Owen"

Ho-boy. This is either gonna take a while or be a really, really brief meeting.

"Uh, Gwen? I'm not sure if we can enlighten you any further. You did the puzzle, you came Here, you're stuck - at the moment." He tucked the rope into his back pocket as best he could - ends still hung out - and sat on Martha's couch. "I've wandered through the grounds and all that. Eventually, you end up back where you started."

Jack spread his hands wide. "All my life's a circle. No way out except for assembling another cube, a bigger one, and the pieces are hidden."

He glanced at Martha. "Uh... without getting too complicated and metaphysical, where the heck do we go from there, girlfriend?"

Martha already knows from first hand experience that what Jack is saying is the truth, having been confused by the lack of an exit. Even still, she adds, "And you never know how many of the others here have found a piece. Somehow, I don't think saying 'I just need that piece you've got right there and then I can go home' would ever work out well."

Martha shrugs, settling on the arm of her sofa. "On a larger scale, we could figure out how much longer we really intend on staying here. Maybe start trying to find pieces. On a shorter scale of the 'while we're still in my room' type, I've no idea. Though," Martha looks over at Gwen. "I've been meaning to ask you how things went with my mum after I disappeared. I know she's...protective."

Oh that's a serious understatement.

"It was crazy and a little scary at the same time" as Gwen filled in a few more blanks. "It was down to me,Owen and Ianto and well it was not pretty early on. Things get too much, people start dropping so that might explain my getting sick during the madness" as she told more of her time pre Here. But her eyes spoke more, Rhys was always on her mind. Those few calls helped but there was a massive hole in Gwen's soul.

"I'm sure it was pretty wild," Jack said. That didn't really answer Martha's question, but who knows how much time had passed between her disappearing and Gwen showing up? Maybe Martha's family had been busy and hadn't noticed what could be only a few days without hearing from her, and that would hardly be unusual, given her job.

He glanced at Martha, unsure how to continue again.

"Specific questions, Gwen? I want to help you out, but maybe I've been Here too long. I don't know where to start. I don't know what you already know. You know?"

Did that just make sense? Need coffee...

Martha nods, accepting that answer. "It's kind of weird, though, isn't it?" She asks, beginning to tap distractedly on the part of the arm of the sofa that was visible between her legs. "The longer you're here, the less you think about getting back. I mean, I've thought about home. But actually trying to get back? I haven't thought of it once."

"Fucking hell, I don't even know how long I've been here." She says under her breath, not even giving consideration to her language. She doesn't look at Jack or Gwen, just in case either of them heard her. Besides, the meeting's about Gwen getting answers, so she waits for the other woman to answer Jack.

"During the worst of my bug the bathrooms seemed to clean themselves and I never heard or felt anything" Gwen offered. She fished for a notebook,"I kept notes to stay busy and to be honest sane"

To say that Martha seemed pissed off would be an understatement. He wasn't sure if she was more angry at the situation, though, or herself.

Jack knew what she meant about the passage of time and placed a hand on her shoulder, hoping it was reassuring.

"Keeping your sanity around here - Here - is a full-time job, Gwen," he said gently. "If it helps keep you sane to write about it, great. And yeah. The invisible cleaning staff is pretty freaky. I still haven't decided if I love it or hate it."

He gave both ladies a small smile. "So, have we learned anything today? Anyone for a beer?" He'd have water, of course, but whatever...

Martha looks over at Jack when he touches her shoulder, and gives him a half smile. "I've decided to love it. Otherwise, this place would be a mess."

She laughs a bit. "I'm sure we have, somewhere in there. And I think I could have two."
