Who: Martha (if she wants too) and OTA

Where: The Bar

When: A couple of hours after his arrival.

Derek sat in the bar and took another swig from the bottle of beer in front of him. He tried to let what he had been told sink in but still thought, or hoped, that any moment he'd wake up and find it had all been a dream. He was still wearing his scrubs and white coat. He thought of Meredith sitting in the bar waiting for him to show up. He didn't know if he would have if he was still in Seattle. But he'd never have the chance. Ever have the chance to sign the divorce papers. His fumled with the wedding ring in his pocket. He took another swig. One good thing about this place was the booze was free.

Martha's in a mood completely opposite of how she felt the other day, and the last thing on her mind is drinking. In fact, considering how many Long Island Iced Teas she remembered having that day, it's a good idea to completely avoid them. For a few weeks at least. She's truthfully on her way to her room where she can finish figuring out the home-made recipe she has yet to give Gwen and passing by the door when she sees a man sitting alone and drinking a beer. He's wearing what looks to be scrubs and a white coat and Martha is more than a bit sure that he's newly arrived.

She heads over to him, deciding a detour isn't all that bad, and sits down, smiling. "New here?"

He looked up at her and smiled.

"That obvious?" he asked.

Martha's smile only widens and she gives a bit of a shrug. "Just a bit." She waits a beat, and then says, "I'm Martha."

"Derek," he said. "So I take it you've been here a while then Martha?"

"A few months, yeah." She says with nod. "At least I think so. Can't really tell after being here a while."

"Not sure what to do with so much free time on my hands," he said.

"Well," she starts, "There are libraries. Two in fact. But you can't read anything you want - it's a bit weird like that. The screening room, for movies, works in the same way. I can't really explain it. There are a few rooms for play, like one with a billiard, and one for just video games. A fitness centre, if you like to work out. An indoor pool, too. There's more outside, in case none of that appeals to you." She pauses. "And, if you want to talk, chances are you'll find me in my room - 104."

"That's nice of you Martha," he said giving her a charming smile. "So what did you do before you came Here?"

"Oh, I'm a doctor, actually. I work for an organisation. Pretty much a twenty-four hour job." She adds, feeling the need.

"You're a doctor too. What kind of doctor are you?" he asked.

He gave her a grin. "Twenty-four hour job, no time for a boyfriend then?"

"Just a general practitioner," she answers, not mentioning the part where most of her work involves aliens of some type and that humans are rare.

She laughs a bit, smiling. "No, no time for a boyfriend." She looks at him. "What about you? Leave a girlfriend behind?"

"Sort of," he said with a sigh. "It's complicated and involves a wife that I'm separated from."

"Enough said," Martha replies understandingly, thinking of what it was like with her parents' marriage and figuring that the only way it could be was complicated.

"New topic, then," she grins. "What sort of doctor are you?"
