Martha wakes up and is confused. [Jack?]
Martha doesn't wake up peacefully. She wakes up with a gasp, bolting upright and looking about her in shock, surprise, and confusion as she tries to remember just where the fuck she is and how she ended up here. In the next instant, she remembers being attacked and that was it, and she wonders in alarm just how long she's been sleeping. Not wanting to think on that for long, however, she decides that it's not important, and climbs off of the table she was laid out on, grateful to find that she was still clothed as she hadn't any time to waste.

Crossing the room, she went for the door, opening it and peeking outside. Looking to her left and right, she sees no one, and decides it's her best chance, sprinting forth. She doesn't know where she is, as it's not the Residence, and she has no bleeding clue where she's running to, but she'll be damned if she stays in one place for too long, having learned enough from That Year.

It isn't long before she can hear whoever had her captive yelling of an escaped prisoner, and she decidedly doesn't let it get to her, reminding herself that if she just keeps running, they won't catch her. She just has to keep running. She trips a bit, but she doesn't fall, thankfully, and she realises with shock that the Residence is actually up ahead. If she wasn't running in fear, she'd be amazed at the fact that they are no longer closed off.

Eventually the ones pursuing her give up, for which she's grateful, and she slows down to a jog, and then to a walk, breathing heavily as she runs out of adrenaline, curious as to just what is going on as she gets closer to the Residence, until finally, she's sure she's reached the point where it used to start. She doesn't stop however, until she gets to the lobby, and even then, she feels like collapsing. And she does, sitting on the floor as soon as she gets inside the door.

"What the hell is going on?" She's asking herself, but she really wishes that someone cold give her an answer.

Jack was on high alert, moving through the halls, checking to see if anyone needed help and trying to figure out exactly what was going on. He didn't expect someone to fling themselves through the Lobby doors and drop to their knees - let alone the intrepid Martha Jones.

"Martha?" He crossed to her quickly and crouched down, his eyes sweeping over her, assessing her condition. "Are you okay? Did you just run the marathon or something?" And then, "Have you seen the Doctor?"

Martha looked up at the sound of Jack's voice, and shook her head negatively to both of his questions. "I just... I woke up in this place. And it was out there, beyond where Here used to end. And I don't have a clue how I got there, or when, or how long I was asleep. I don't even know why I was there." She was rambling, she was sure of that, but at the moment, she was much too on edge to care.

"Okay," he said. "Now, I want you to just... focus on breathing for a bit. That's a lot of words. Here." He holstered his revolver, wrapped his arms around her and lifted her to her feet. "Chair. Sit. Now."

Jack did all but carry her to one of the wing-backed chairs.

"Stay," he said firmly and darted to the nearest restaurant. He returned with two bottles of water, opened one and offered it to her. "Drink. Then start from the top, if you can."

With a distracted nod, Martha followed Jack's directions, taking a few good breaths as she allowed herself to be moved to a chair. She gave another small nod as he ordered her to stay, closing her eyes and running a hand over her face as she tried to order her thoughts.

When he returned, she accepted the bottle of water and took a long sip. "I was in the library, reading a book. And I heard a noise, so I decided to see what it was. I had second thoughts, though, and decided to find you, or the Doctor, but I was... attacked, I think. From behind." She took it slowly this time, frowning as she thought back on her last memory. "And that's the last thing I remember before I woke up."

Jack nodded in the appropriate spots, so she knew he was listening, but something wasn't right.

"Okay, Martha. That's good. Now. When, exactly, did all this happen? I mean, you remember us skinny dipping, right? How long after that were you in the library?" He frowned. "I saw you, just two days ago in the hall..."

"I remember the skinny dipping, yeah," she was still frowning. "Not that long... I don't think. I mean, it was in the middle of what passes for summer here, so..." She trailed off at the sudden realisation that the weather outside wasn't even close to what she remembered. With a suddenly alarmed look, she said, "You saw me in the hall two days ago?"

His eyebrows reached for his hairline.

"Summer? The last thing you remember is the summer? I saw you two days ago in the corridor. We talked about..."

Jack paused. What had they talked about?

"Food. The servers in the restaurants. Weirdness and how we always seem tot find it." One look at her expression spoke volumes. "You... don't remember that, do you?"

Eyes still wide, Martha slowly shook her head negatively in response to Jack's question. She didn't understand how he'd seen her when she didn't remember it at all. And she knew she hadn't lost her memory. She was pretty sure of that fact, actually.

"But... I don't feel as if I lost my memory."

When Martha shook her head, he crossed one arm over his chest and placed the other hand so his fingers drummed against his lips.

"Interesting," he said thoughtfully. "So, you've either lost some memories and don't remember it, or maybe you've been... mind wiped by someone or... maybe it wasn't you I was talking to in the hall..."

If it was even possible at this point, her frown deepened. "This is all very weird. I haven't done anything that would give anyone a reason to take my memory, or my place."

"Yeah, well, if you haven't completely lost your memory, this whole place is weird," Jack said. Seeing Martha's frown grow even worse, he said quietly, "Have some more water. Don't worry. We'll figure it out. We always do, right?"

He grinned. "After all, we're Torchwood."

[[OOC: Apologies for the delay. Gah. Where would you like it to go? :)]]

After drinking a bit more water, she couldn't help but to return his smile. "You're right."

Taking a deep breath, she decided she was fine. She still had no idea what had happened, but she was fine.

{ooc: Totally okay, since I'm not doing much better. :D Back to her room, maybe?}

Jack offered her his arm.

"Let me escort you back to your room," he said. "After what you've been through, I think you might need to lie down, baby."

[[OOC: Okay. I guess... we'll wrap it soonish? Not sure what else to do... Thoughts?

"I think that would be a good idea," Martha answered, taking a hold of Jack's arm and standing.

{ooc: Yeah, I think we might be coming to the end.}
