Elaine was sewing in her room when she heard the announcement, and sat up abruptly, her eyes widening, and one hand pressing protectively against her belly.

Destruct? But... She put her sewing down and got up from her chair with some difficulty. She had to find her husband. He would be out on the grounds somewhere.

Sparhawk?? Did you hear that? she thought to him desperately, as she went out of their rooms and headed out to find him.

Upon going outside, she stood stock still at the changes that had occurred in their surroundings.

"Sparhawk!" she shouted, nervous and frightened now.

Sparhawk heard the anno0uncement, and ran to the stables, knowing he could get to Elaine faster with Faran's help, and he leaped to Faran's back as he kicked the door open.

"Faran! Elaine's in trouble, this whole damn place is in trouble. Full speed!"

His voice snapped out the command with full voice and as soon as he was seated, Faran reared and leaped forward, smashing through the outer door without even stopping even as Sparhawk lay low along his back,holding tight.

Nearby a soldier, green skinned and purple garbed, barked something at Sparhawk and he casually drew his sword, the look on hie face sending the being scrambling out of their way.

"Into the Residence!"

At full gallop, something few would ever see, Faran charged toward the Residence, only for Elaine to come outside. Faran came to a trembling halt, as Sparhawk leaped from his back and pulled her to him.

"Are you okay?"

	Her eyes were wide and frightened. "What is it...what is happening Here?" She clung to him. "I am well, only frightened, love, and I do not know what is happening!" Her eyes remained open and the scene around them didn't change. Would they die Here? (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	He hugged her close, Faran moving close to them, eyes wide as his head twitched from side to side. "I do not know... only save it appears that the world as we know it is ending. 	Elaine sighed and rested her head against his chest, slowing her breathing and thinking. "Most announcements...they are in the Lobby, are they not? Perhaps we should...check there." Her voice was a little wobbly and she was a little trembly. But her husband's arms were strong and his voice was comforting, and he was her anchor. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Elaine smiled slightly. "I do not want any of us to stray from the other for a moment," she said, patting Faran's neck. She was not sure what they would find there, but she hoped dearly that there would be some information, some solution, there. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Elaine nodded. "I think that is a good scheme," she said softly. Walking slowly, keeping her mind clear, those helped keep her tears at bay for now. When they got to the Lobby, all that was there was a large clock, counting off days, hours, seconds. "...oh..." Elaine breathed, in a small voice. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Sparhawk again took her into his arms and eyed the clock. It took a few moments to translate the still alien numbers in his mind, but then he nodded. "One week. We have a week." "A week," she murmured.

She swallowed hard and looked up at him, touching his face, then leaned against him and the baby still struggled inside of her.

She rubbed her belly and murmured, "He won't calm." She wanted, most desperately and shamefully, to cry her eyes out.

Surely, it must have been more than just a few moments since the announcement. It felt like longer.

	Sparhawk knelt and gently stroked her belly, his voice soft, and murmured softly to her and their child. "We will be okay. We are a family, little one, all of us together, and we will rise out of this, too. God is with us, and will not allow this to be the end, for there is yet much to be had and done in this and other worlds..." He rose and hugged her close. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Elaine's eyes filled with tears as he spoke to their child, and he calmed within her. "You are so brave, love." She sniffled and tears spilled over.

There were so many questions in her mind and she desperately wanted answers...but there were none to be had, and so she must try to be content to wait and find out.

"A week. We shall find out things and we will be all right," she said, batting her tears away with her fingers.

	She nodded. "I will trust you," she said quietly. "I don't think we will need very much...I hope that you will be comfortable, husband." After all...he was her world and no matter what happened, they would be together. She needed him more than even she knew. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Once they got there, Elaine concentrated on packing clothing for them. She made sure, as was her way, that she packed warm clothing, for it was winter, after all. She was very quiet, and let Sparhawk do what he needed to do with their bed. She promised to trust him, but she could not help wondering and worrying a little. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Sparhawk sat and concentrated and reached deep down, remembering spells, one by one and casting them. He could fee the strain, but he knew it would be worth it, and that he would recover. All of the Gods' gifts were like that. One spell made all f their things light, incredibly so, another levitated bags for the clothing, and the bed, as well as the blankets.

More spells enshrouded their clothing and the bed with warmth and with protection against cold and the elements.

He breathed when he was done, and slowly rose, Faran nosing his shoulder.

"Old friend, a new change is coming, I know it..."

He started piling things on the bed and rigged a harness to let Faran and himself lead it.
