Noel Streatfeild drabble: Sunday Afternoon, Before Teatime [Petrova, Mr Simpson, general]
Title: Sunday Afternoon, Before Teatime
Author: [info]celandineb
Fandom: Noel Streatfeild, Ballet Shoes
Characters: Petrova, Mr Simpson, Nana
Rating: general
Summary: Inclement weather won't stop Petrova from doing what she loves.
Note: For [info]magnetic_pole, who wanted a childhood book like Noel Streatfeild, "cold weather."

That January Sunday the wind whipped their faces raw coming back from church, so that Nana looked at Petrova dubiously before permitting her go to the garage with Mr. Simpson.

"But it's a mustard plaster for you if you catch cold," she warned ominously.

Petrova didn't care. She gave a little skip as she and Mr. Simpson went out, and he looked down at her and smiled.

"I see someone is in good spirits."

"Yes." Petrova beamed back. "It doesn't matter how nasty the weather is when I'm allowed to spend the afternoon learning more about what I really like."

Mustard plasters! That's something I haven't thought of for ages. And that is exactly what Nana's like, isn't it?

Awww, thanks so much, Cel! I loved these books so much much when I was young, Ballet Shoes especially, and I needed a good reminder of why I always admired Petrova on a rainy day like today. Off to go do something I love! *hugs* Maggie

It's very Nana! *G*

You're welcome - I'm really glad you liked this! I've never written in this fandom at all, but I do love Streatfeild and was glad to get a chance at it. Petrova was of course my favorite of the three girls. Hee.
