Dropped down the stairwell from C-floor...

(Post a new comment)

Left on the C-floor, a few feet away from where it was dropped.

Stain on piece of paper aspiring to be more than a stain.

Ultimately unimpressive.

Dropped down the stairwell again, written on the back of his inkblot.

Can a stain aspire?

Apparently.

Happens frequently.

I suppose.

Though perhaps the fact that a stain would aspire is impressive in and of itself.

Suppose you believe in second chances.

I am a second chance.

Thought about it.

Absolutely ridiculous that stain would aspire to anything.

Brought "second chances" to mind.

You don't believe in second chances then?

No such thing as redemption?

No. Never.

Just liberal affectation to justify sick fascination with living vicariously through scum, criminals and perverts.

"Redemption" just a slap on the wrist. Just reminder to be more careful about being caught next time.

What if the law isn't involved? Someone makes a mistake, destroyes their own life, realizes they are the problem, fixes themselves from the ground up, becomes a productive member of society...?

How is that an affectation?

Free will drove said someone to first mistake. Unethical to try and redeem person for own interests. Had a chance, made a bad choice. Must pay for it. Society pays for weak links, self-destructive people. No matter the intentions, society pays. Not fair. Wrench in the gears must be extracted, machine is not altered to include it.

Liberals would feel differently without money, charismatic leaders. Too soft. Too many 'second chances'.

All an act. Would feel differently if rose-tinted glasses were removed. See things. See people for how they really are.

So if one makes their mistakes, what would be their penance? Complete eradication? Do varying vices command different retributions? Or is it one-size-fits-all, a punishment for the masses?

And if so, who doesn't deserve to be 'removed from the machine'?

Bad choice is a bad choice. Masses take care of themselves. Individuals get away with it. Individuals must be made examples of for masses. Not a question of penance, question of retribution. Remorse is tripped upon in the face of punishment. Happy enough to hide in dark like rats until they're found out. Penance is last resort.

Good people. Of course.

Are there good people? Even the best people make mistakes. Everyone has skeletons in their closet. Where is the line drawn?

Good people are far and few between. Very few things are true mistakes, just actions people regret due to consequences. When consequence is sufficient. Line is drawn where action dictates. People have a choice.

Very simple.

Simple enough, from a completely detatched viewpoint. But not all who transgress are monsters, nor are they all beyond the reach of their own consciences. If one can save themselves without intervention of the law then do they still deserve retribution?
