Who: Gilly and Owen Where: A walk around the grounds When: After dinner on Wednesday night Why: Just because.... Rating: Pg-13
Gilly was just leaving the Great Hall after dinner. She didn't feel like going back to her room, or even her house's common room. But she didn't really know where else to go. She looked outside and saw dusk, but not quite dark yet and she decided to take a walk. She stepped out onto the front lawn of the castle and looked around, trying to decide which direction to head in.
Owen had eaten quickly that evening and had decided to go out to the pitch for a little while before the sun went down. He flew around for a little while before placing his broom in the closet at dusk and stuffing his hands in his pocket shuffling towards the castle. It was a lovely day and he hadn't wanted to go inside just yet. Owen grinned as he walked, smiling as he saw a red-headed girl up ahead of him.
"Hey, Gilly!" He called to her with a smile, jogging up until he was standing next to her. "How are you?"
She was staring off into space, not having moved for a minute when she heard someone say her name. "Owen. Hello. I was just about to head off um, somewhere. Not that I have any idea where to go. But I didn't feel like sitting in the castle anymore." She explained. "What are you doing out here all by yourself anyway?"
Owen grinned at her, "One could ask you the same question, Gilly. You seemed to have been deep in thought. I apologize for disrupting you." He told her sincerely, running his hand in his long hair. "I was out flying, I like flying right before it gets too dark to see things. You should try it some time if you haven't."
"Well, not really deep in thought, but I was just letting my mind wander." She admitted to him. "I actually have flown at dusk before, it's nice. Quiet." She twirls her hair around her finger, shyly. Something new for her. She didn't usually get shy around anyone. But he was good looking, sweet. "I was just about to take a walk though, so maybe you want to come with me. Keep me company."
"Its one of my favorite things to do, as odd as that sounds." He said with a grin, "I'd love to keep you company, Gilly. Any destination in mind?" He asked her draping his arms over her shoulders in a friendly, yet flirty fashion. "How has your day been?"
She nodded, blushing. "Well, what do you say we head behind the castle then? Quieter that way. And my day has been slow. Kinda boring, actually. I have actually not been causing trouble a lot lately. My sister would be so proud." She doesn't know why she tells him this, but he just looks so open. Like she could tell him this and he wouldn't judge her.
"I'm sure your sister is proud, I can't imagine why should wouldn't be." He told her. He knew that he was proud of his younger sisters even though he didn't always mention it. "You seem like a decent girl. She'd be daft not to be pleased with the way you have turned out." He told her following her towards the back of the castle.
"Yes, that's what she tells me." She nodded, liking how warm she felt with his arm around her. "You seem like a decent bloke too, I bet your family is just as proud as you." She said, as they started walking together. "I'm surprised we haven't hung out before now." She told him again, even though she had already commented that same thing to him in the journals earlier.
Owen rubbed her arm, barely thinking about what he was doing. He found that he was very comfortable around her, more comfortable than he had been in a very long time. "Thank you, I hope they are." He said, smiling brightly, "I am too, You are a very nice girl, very beautiful." He told her honestly.
She nodded. No one had ever called her beautiful before. She liked it. It was sweet. And his hand felt soft against her arm. "I know they are." She insisted, "Who wouldn't be?" She glanced at him out of the corner of her eye as they walked.
"You are um, very handsome. I bet all the girls around here think so." She blushed. They probably did. And he would probably get together with one of them. She knew she was decent looking but guys always seemed to want to date her sister. She was always the friend. She couldn't stand it sometimes. And here was a perfectly sweet, cute bloke. Maybe things with him would be different. She could only hope. One thing was for sure, she was keeping him to herself. She didn't want anyone getting any ideas on him.
Truth be told, he thought she was very good looking and a wonderful girl to be around, they had similar interests and so far nothing had stricken him as horrible or unforgivable. However, he knew how this worked, he start to like some on than another person swoops in and sweeps the girl off her feet leaving him in perpetual friend zone. "Thank you, you seem to be full of compliments."
"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to um, embarrass you. Or myself." She shrugged. "This is nice, though. Usually the blokes I know want to take a walk and then snog and then that's it. It's nice to know that you aren't all like that. So, um, who do you hang out with? I have been here all 6 years and have never really talked to you, except out on the Pitch." She sounded curious, because she was. She wanted to know about him for some reason. She wanted him to know about her. She didn't have many guy friends that didn't just want to snog, and this was nice. Although she did hope eventually they'd maybe kiss. Or at least maybe even go out sometime. Off grounds. Alone.
"Oh, Don't worry I'm not embarrassed, I'm fine. I wouldn't mind a snog," He said with a small smile. "Anything interesting in class or outside? Ah..." And with that there was a long pause.
"I mostly hang out with my quidditch mates, Cutter, Tucker, you know, along those lines though I am always open to meet new people." Logan said flirting.
"Well, I mean, maybe it'll happen. Snogging around here seems to big latey. I bet you will get one before you know it." She nodded. "Class is the same boring stuff. Although it does help me learn new charms for when I am home to help around the house. Not that I can use them at home. I hate being 16 sometimes." She sighed. "Yea, I mostly stay with my quidditch mates too, and my cousins. I hardly ever see people in other houses. Even though some of them are kind of cool." She flirts back, giving him a sort of knowing look.
"I hope I will get one soon by a very gorgeous woman." Owen said with a smile winking over at her. He slid his free hand in his hair. "I do have to agree with you. I hardly know other people from the other houses but it has come to my conclusion that there are some people worth hanging around for." He had told her honestly.
She blushed. Maybe he'd kiss her tonight. She wasn't stupid. She didn't want to go too far, but hey a goodnight kiss from a cute bloke never hurt anyone. "Maybe you will. Soon." She whispered. She swung her arms, walking, her hand close to his as they walked. She suddenly wanted to take his hand. But they had officially just met. She couldn't yet. "So, where do you live anyway? Like where do you go for holidays?" She asked, curiously, randomly. But she wanted to know about him.
"One can only hope, yeah?" He said softly, smiling. He loved standing so close her her, his arm still wrapped around her. "My family has a tiny little home in Duffy, Sctoland. That's where I am when I'm not here. How about you? Where are you from, what is your family like"
"We lived in Egypt as long as I could remember. Because my dad used to work at Gringotts. But well, we moved closer to our family when I was small, so that all us kids could someday go to Hogwarts." She shrugged. "And i'm glad. I like it here. And I love flying." She said, sounding dorky to her own ears. "I got lucky though. We pretty much have our own quidditch team just with our family. That's how bog we are." She laughed. "Do you have a big family?" She stopped near the back of the castle, standing under the astronomy tower window.
