Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Dominic and Alexandria
When: Saturday Afternoon
Why: Alex loves Dom
Where: Starting outside the Great Hall
Rating: Maybe R

Dominic was striding toward the Great Hall, his steps hard and angry. His thoughtlessness had gotten him into trouble before, but this was a new level of asinine, even for him. He'd sent the owl off minutes after being hit by the stinging hex, which it turned out Alex hadn't even been responsible for. He'd been furious and in pain, and he hadn't stopped to consider exactly what would happen after the initial humor faded from the situation. The idea for a love spell had come from his off the cuff comment to Sam the day before, and it had seemed funny and random when it didn't involve him in any way. Now, it wasn't so funny.

All he could think about was how to get through the day without letting Alex humiliate herself any more than she already had. She was a pain in the ass, no doubt. But she didn't deserve this. Worse, he had no idea why he'd chosen to make her fall in love with him and objectively he could see how that looked bad. Maybe it was for the best though. She seemed determined to get as close to him as humanly possible, but he couldn't let that happen. He couldn't let anything happen.

His world was going to shattered into a million pieces when the spell wore off. Best case scenario, she would never trust him again. They weren't the best of friends now, but this wasn't something you forgave someone for. Worst case scenario, she could try to make him pay for his stupidity. He wasn't sure exactly what the school rules were regarding this kind of thing, but it was safe to say casting love spells on people was frowned upon. Her father, his stepfather, would be infuriated. His mother would be horrified. Worse, she would be so disappointed in him. He'd violated Alexandria's mind, controlled her at a basic level, and no woman would forgive something like that. It was cruel and wrong and he fucking knew it.

The best he could do now was get her through the day with as little trauma as possible and beg for forgiveness after this was all over.

He spotted her as he rounded the corner. She was waiting for him. He wouldn't be surprised if she'd been waiting the last fifteen minutes. He knew how horrible this situation could turn. She was beyond infatuated with him and it wouldn't take much for things to get completely out of hand. As he drew level with her he gave her a brittle, pained smile. He was so angry with himself that he was almost shaking.

"Hey, Alex. Sorry to keep you waiting."

Alexandria's mind had been was clouded with the Love Potion that his hesitation to see her barely registered. Very please that she would see him, she had spent a good twenty minutes making sure that she looked her best for her meeting with Dominic (despite the black eye and the cut across the cheek from the fight), before rushing down to the Great Hall. She leaned against the wall, scanning the area for him. She grinned when she saw him, rushing toawrd him she wrapped her arms around his neck.

"Hi!" She said happily, hugging him tight and pressed a small kiss to his cheek. "How have you been? I haven't seen you since yesterday, I've missed you!"

As she leaned up to kiss his cheek he couldn't help but focus on the damage her face had taken. For someone who was so obsessed with her appearance, that must have been killing her. Now she was out running around the castle with it, desperate to see him.

"I'm sorry about these." He touched her cheek lightly. "I shouldn't have ... it was stupid. I'm sorry."

He drew out his wand and concentrated for a moment before casting the charm that would heal her small wounds. As quidditch captain he had to deal with worse on a weekly bases, but it was never anything he'd caused out of spite.

"You know what I was thinking we could do? Go flying for a minute. What do you think?"

She flinched lightly as he touched her cheek, not because he was actually touching her like she normally would have, but because this time it was honestly sore. She smiled up at him as he fixed her minor stuff.

"Thank you, Dominic, you are brilliant." She said with a dreamy smile, grabbing one of his hands an lacing her fingers with his.

"If you want to go flying... we can." She told him softly. Alexandria's mother had always gone out of her way to tell Alex that flying on broomsticks were unlady like and thus should avoid it. However, she learned in flying class that it was fun and she was rather good at it...not she'd ever told her mum that.

Dominic only hesitated a little when she threaded their fingers together. He could foresee that this was going to be a long day full of awkward moments. Which was the point of flying, actually. On their brooms she'd have to stay far enough away from him to keep her hands to herself, hopefully.

"You'll love it. Don't worry."

He led her toward the exit and they began walking down to the supply shed. His broom was down there already, but she could use one of the school brooms. They weren't going to be doing any fancy flying anyway, just staying low to the ground and taking in the scenery. The last thing he needed was for the girl to fall to her death while under his love spell and in the air at his command.

"So, what's going on with you lately? The winter holidays probably weren't what you'd imagined."

Truthfully, even he'd been depressed by how horrible and repressive their Christmas together had been.

"Oh, winter was brilliant. My first christmas after my mum dies and my daddy gets me a new one!" She said bitterly with an obvious fake cheer, just because she was under a love potion didn't mean the other aspects of her personality and over all being were gone. "But you were their, so it wasn't sooo bad." She smiled over at him.

She walked into the shed and took a broom into her free hand. Almost reluctantly the girl dropped Dominics hand and held the broom, mounting it carefully.

"My mom said these things were very crude and unlady like." Alex said pushing off of the ground. It showed a lot for her to do this, to disobey her mother because Dominic wanted her to fly with him.

"My mum's been alone for a long time, you know. Since before I can remember. She's not a slag." It probably wasn't fair of him to bring it up now, but it felt like she was listening to him for the first time. "I think they've both taken leave of their senses, honestly."

He grabbed his own broom and locked up the supply closet. Even though she didn't sound thrilled to be on the broom she looked familiar with it. They'd stay close to the ground though, just in case. After mounting, he kicked off into the air and started forward at a leisurely pace.

"I'm sure your mother wouldn't agree, but I think girls that can hold their own are incredibly sexy. Ladylike seems really restrictive, isn't it? I get bored really easily, to tell you the truth. I like people who are up for anything."

Alex brought her broom up next to his and shrugged, staring ahead of them. "Maybe. Maybe you're mum is really, really nice. But I don't suppose I'll ever know that. This all... This all just happened to fast and I can't deal with it. Its like I'm angry and I need to be angry, but I don't know who to be angry at." She admitted to him, not looking at him, just staring ahead of them. It was odd to be saying that aloud.

"And yes. My mother would disagree with you. And I can't say that I really do, because I find this lady like business very boring, but I wouldn't dare cross my mother. She'd be very disappointed and I never wanted to do that. I always wanted her to be really, really proud of me." Again, Alex didn't look at him, just ahead, her hands gripping the broom a little tighter. She hadn't even been so truthful with Ophelia and they were best friends. Thats the thing about thinking that you are in love with someone, you think you can trust them with the inner workings of your head. Thus, Alexandria trusted Dominic with everything at that moment.

"I guess we just have to give it time," he mumbled. He couldn't honestly scold her for her feelings, not when he hated both her and her father for no logical reason other than their intrusion and differences.

At her next words, the first thing that popped into his mind was to remind her that her mother was dead. Of course, that would be insensitive, so he refrained. Perhaps not as insensitive as having the rose burst into flame, but still.

He grimaced a little as he flew, desperately trying to come up with a reasonable explanation for his actions.

"You can't help but love your parents. Even through their faults, I guess. But they don't always know what's best for you."

He fell into silence as they flew. After a while, they fell into easy small talk and he couldn't help but be surprised that he didn't despise her like this. Of course, she was trying to please him now. Once the spell wore off they would probably never speak civilly to each other again.

Alexandria shrugged, "I guess they don't." She repeated softly before moving into much lighter talk. They had never spoken like that before, they had never gone more than a few minutes with out something mean or spiteful said between them.

"I'd much rather get off this broom now." Alex said, turning around and hoping he'd follow suit. Once she got back to the broom shed, she put away her broom and waited for Dominic to do the same before taking his hand again and lacing their fingers.

"You know, you are more than welcome to come back to my room." She said with a smile as they began to walk back to the castle.

He put away his broom and let her twine their fingers together again. Strangely, it felt good to have her so warm and trusting against him. It made him feel guilty in a way he'd never imagined feeling before, but beneath that, it was oddly nice.

"I can't. We're having a quidditch meeting in a few minutes. Tomorrow though, okay?"

The meeting was a complete lie, of course, but there was no way in hell he could let them get alone together. She was clearly feeling brazen and he could only gently tell her no so many times.

As they entered the castle he smiled down at her and gave her a light peck on the cheek.

"All right, pet. Tomorrow, okay?"

Frowned as he told her that he had a meeting to go to.

"If you say so." She said slowly, it was disappointing to say the least. "But tomorrow is ok." She said, atempting a small smile and dropping his hand. She stood there awkwardly for a moment before throwing her arms around his neck and pressing a kiss to his lips. She held him there for a moment before drawing back for a moment.

"Tomorrow. See you tomorrow." She said with a smile.
