The final work repairs on the window were completed yesterday and to celebrate I am offering a 5% off everything sale for the next twenty-four* hours. Come in tonight, come in tomorrow, see the fine work done to restore the window on the front of the store.

I saw the first orange leaf yesterday when I was out driving. Or I think it was, and not a flower in a tree. I think we should get a brunch this weekend to celebrate the approaching onslaught of our autumn overlords.

[Filter: Lochan]
I feel as if we've hardly spoken since the car incident and I think that might be my fault. Can we do lunch sometime this week?

I apologize for how terribly hot it is in the front of the store, but the back room is open for people to browse books if you wish.

Also, I have the winner of last week's drawing for a $25 gift card, and Rafael Valdez you can come and pick your card up anytime you wish!

I hope that everyone that was able to enjoy the sale is now enjoying their books - preferably in the shade and in front of a fan.

Wonderlust is having their semi-annual sale this weekend. For the entire week, it is 20% off used books on their shelves (which are already 50% off the cover price - minimum per book price is still $2) and a flat 10% off all books. In addition, every purchase made over the weekend provides an entry into a drawing for a $25 gift card.

There is also a Help wanted sign in the window. Amita is hiring part time help, particularly for the weekends.

Emerald Mayweather comes by early in the weekend and buys up every used book by Neil Gaiman. Much to Amita's private dismay JJ MAYWEATHER spends most of Friday afternoon in Wonderlust and has to be chased out at closing by Amita. DIAMOND MAYWEATHER is really hoping that a very specific title and author is available in the used section, and crosses their fingers while Amita checks her inventory.

Most of the weekend there will be small cookies available at the register along with one small cup of chai (per person) and the atmosphere in the store is cheery and quietly festive.

wednesday, june 20
Wednesday evening wonderlust books is open past 6pm, as it is tiny reader night! Beginning at 5pm the store is open for children and their parents. The back stage space has been cleared and there is an oversized Winnie the Pooh and Eeyore in the corner as well as mini-containers of popcorn, and little juice boxes.

Amita read What Do You Do With An idea and Ada Twist, Scientist and then the kids were allowed to do creative things with construction paper and glue. Amita's daughter Destiny helped her hand out construction paper. The evening was a rousing success interrupted only by Peter Goffe's daughter, Antigone, who was incredibly distraught by Ada Twist's parents yelling at her and started crying inconsolably and had to be taken out mid-story and Ziva Shasha wandering in about 6:30pm while the Tinies were construction papering intent on buying a copy of Delta of Venus despite the fact that store was technically closed 30 minutes ago, leaving Amita flustered and with pink cheeks for the next ten minutes.

I've opened my shop again with a notice that any discussions about the death of Ms. MacTeer will get you thrown out.
I have also decided that until the investigation is over I will not be doing seances.

Other than that, half off Oracle Card readings today and tomorrow.

Thanks to Mitch and his murderous pitches, I was uncomfortably close to coming into Father's Day fatherless. For this reason, I (the favorite child) am especially thankful that I am able to wish the man, the myth, and the legend the very happiest of Father's Days.

Family dinner at the diner, just the six of us? We'll let mom and dad hang out front and moon anyone who tries the door while we cook them something somewhere between good and masterful.

I would very much like to announce that we will have several events this month at Wonderlust that might be of interest to the community.

Author David Guterson will be reading from his poetry.

We've had some interest in a book club, so we'll be doing our first one next Thursday. We'll be starting with a mystery/thriller, so if that sounds interesting to you, come in and get more information.

And then finally there will be a children's night towards the end of the month, bring your Tinies, and enjoy popcorn and mini cookies, and picture books!

monday, june 4
Monday morning when wonderlust books opens, the remainder of the difficulty with the window has been largely sorted away until such time as the new window arrives, and the whole matter can be 100% put to rest. While the shelves of coloring books, journals, etc, that are typically under the window are not currently there, the front displays are back and functional!

At the very front and center, is a new display of poetry focusing on American poets such as Emily Dickinson, and Langston Hughes, and several beautifully bound copies of Leaves of Grass are prominently displayed.

Flash Reactionary: After the Official Announcement of Death

Lochan closed his shop early and without notice (even to Blaze).
His cell phone is turned off.
Every now and again loud and randomized noises can be heard through the ceiling of the bookstore, coming from his apartment above it. Many times thuds echo down of something heavy hitting the floor or the light, sharp sound of glass breaking.

Tony, Ami and Bishop all have keys to his apartment should anyone feel the need to check in on him. (Though Tony is probably busy being the amazing officer he is.)
