The Fall City Daily May 7, 2018 By: Kevin Waters
Understaffed and overworked is a phrase I have often used to describe the Deputy Sheriff’s office. I have seen three different Deputy Sheriff’s during my lifetime. And I wouldn’t call any of them duds. They run have all run their departments reasonably well, but there’s always been room for improvement. Having more staff is an improvement that each of the Deputy Sheriff’s likely wanted - but it is our current Deputy Sheriff that has received the help. Not because the King County Sheriff actually recognized that our small town needed some more financing or help in terms of people. No, because they want to ‘protect’ the Newcomers. The addition of a detective and an officer aren’t for our benefit. Or even for the day-to-day benefit of the Deputy Sheriff’s office. They’re for the Moira’s and the Rhett’s and the rest of the film crew. For the city people who have descended upon our town because they want the perfect selfie with the actor or actress they’re obsessed with. For the people involved with the movie who can already afford their own security team. |
