Re: Mik and Ophelia
At the mention of engagement, Mikael's mind went into overdrive. The revelation that his father and his uncle expected him to wed Serafina had rocked him. It was no so much the fact that it was what his family wanted, but more so the fact that he considered Serafina more of a sister. They had grown up together. He had, after all, lived with her since the age of five. His father, uncle, and mother did have a point. Wedding them would preserve the blood line, keeping it pure. Something to mull over, but if he were honest, he was not looking forward to it. However. He had to do what was required of him.
As to answering Ophelia's question, he had to be very careful. He had be careful with his words until he spoke with Father. After all, just gathering the information from Serafina was not a confirmation. "Well, I believe something is in the works. Father was very busy on business this summer, thus not leaving much time for us to speak about it at length." Not the full truth, but true enough. He steered the conversation back to her earlier statement. "Oh? I hope you were compensated accordingly for your time and effort. You do beautiful work."
