Who: Narissa Smith and Kavi Bali
Where: Library in Marble City, then a coffee
When: July 23, about noonish
Warning: None so far
Status: Closed/In progress
Kavi smiled as he sat down on the bench outside the library. He has just checked out some of the books that he wanted and he was meeting up with his best friend. It had not been that long since school got out but for two weeks they had not really seen each other. They had talked, but not in person. Leaning back he stretched and looked around. It was a bright and sunny day. There was suppose to rain later in week.
Looking up the walkway he could see Nari on her way. Smiling he stood up and walked toward her. “Did you have a hard time remembering where the library was? Or did you have to change three times before leaving?”
----
Narissa knew she was running late to meet with Kavi, but she also knew that he would wait for her. He did seem to adore her, for all that they were very different. It was a complimentary sort of difference that caused them to mesh well as friends and she appreciated it. She sort of missed having him around all the time, being home was bad for that. One of the flaws with summer, along with the heat.
She had, in fact, changed only two times before she left the house. She would not admit that to her friend though, not just yet. "Who's to say I didn't have to tell someone to leave because you're more important? Or maybe I had to wash up so you didn't get a rank Nari." A grin and she moved to hug him, glad to see him again.
----
“That would be a lie.” He said, hugging his friend back. “I have never seen you look anything but beautiful and your smell goes along with that.” He was good at flattery and compliments, always trying to hide what was underneath. It didn’t make it any less genuine, he loved Narissa as if she was his own sister. Pulling back he looked at her.
“As for telling someone else to leave, I am both flattered and outraged. You should have never let them in if you had a friend to meet up with, but I will forgive since you are my friend.” Kavi said with a smile.
----
Nari laughed at the flattery. She was pretty sure he didn't think of any girl in the terms he offered to her, aside from her and it was more a connection that matched what she had with her brother. Not that she wasn't flattered, he was always sweet, but it was a sibling sweet.
"Ah, but then the question is did I let them in today or did they just stay over?" Because she had no problem discussing her exploits. If someone thought she was a slut she didn't care. She liked who she was and that was all that mattered in the end. "So how about you? Catching up on fun reading? Or is it all school things?"
----
“Well if that is the case, then I suppose you are completely forgiven. No one can foresee that.” Kavi shifted his bag a bit, the same one that had the books for his summer reading. Kavi went through books like most people did through clothes. He devoured them like they were the tastiest delicacies.
“Why do that two have to be mutually exclusive?” He asked. “School work can be fun too, or is my Ravenclaw showing through.” But no, most of the books he read on summer break were about science and new discovers. It was about as boring as you could get, unless you were Kavi.
----
"I really did change twice. Didn't have anyone over last night. Parents and Adi were all home so it would have been a chore with convincing whoever it was that nobody around really much cared." A soft laugh. It wasn't that her parents didn't care for her, quite the opposite. They wanted her to be who she was and as long as she was safe about it it tended to be ignored for the most part.
"Depends really. I mean, reading for charms is fun. Some other classes though not so much." That was the one class she didn't have to work hard in. It came naturally and she was grateful, since everything else was complicated and took a lot of study and practice.
----
He chuckled, as he knew she had to get all dressed up for him. Sometimes he did wish that he could love her more than he did. That he had real feelings for her and not just brotherly ones, it would make life so much easier on him. “Well I am glad, you need a break from all the boys. When school starts up again, then you are string them along again.”
Kavi loved most of his classes. There were some that were harder than others, but he did like the challenge. But what he wanted to be in the future had nothing to do with magic. “No, they are just regular books, or regular for me. I am going to pick up some new books on Arithmancy when I got back to school shopping, but for now science is my companion.”
----
It probably wouldn't do much for the ease of his life- she wasn't the sort for monogamy and he got a lot more commitment just being friends with her. "So you think I should give some of the girls a shot again?" A soft laugh and she winked at him teasingly. It was amusing to her to joke about that. It wasn't false either, she liked people, not genders, and so she'd been with at least as many girls as guys.
"Regular books. That's good though. If you want I can look and see if daddy got any new ones on Arithmancy you can borrow, or maybe Adi." Because there were a lot of of books in her house and she figured he wouldn't mind borrowing some to see what had interesting or new material.
----
Kavi tried laughing. He knew Narissa was not like everyone else, she liked both genders. Some days he wanted to tell her how he felt, but then he kept it in. It was one thing to have a girl that liked to play with girls, it was another for a guy. She was just finding herself, he would be labeled something far worse. “I think you need to give your body a rest. It can’t be healthy satisfying so many. Besides you need to spent more time with your friend.”
“No, that is alright. It will be something to look forward to come the end of summer. I have enough books in my bag to last me at least a month.” He could have gotten more but he had to hold himself back.
----
Narissa would disagree that she was just finding herself, it was dismissive of the feelings she could develop. A soft laugh was offered at his suggestion and she teasingly shook her head. "It feels good and relieves stress, silly. But yes, I do need to spend more time with you. There's not nearly enough hours in a day and I do quite adore you, after all." A grin and she looked around. "So, where should we go?"
Obviously he could have gotten more books and she knew that he was as addicted to learning as she was to nurturing and being around people. They were really different and it was funny to her how well they meshed, but she was grateful for it. "As long as you will get through, can't have you running out of books."
----
Kavi would not really know how good it felt being with another person, because while he did kiss and makeout, even if he kept that to a minimum, he had yet to give himself to someone fully. If he could just convince himself that everything would be right with the world if he did just step over that barrier with a future girlfriend. “See? I am much more important than those other people.” He said brightly. “I was thinking maybe a coffee? I have not had one for two hours now and I dying for caffeine.”
Books were his life. He loved them so. He did adore her and a select few people, mainly his family, but books understood him better than most people did. “I will get through, don’t worry. If I run out of books I can always re-read some of last summer, or steal some from my step-dad’s office.”
----
Narissa nodded, entirely agreeing. "You are." Because he and her brother were without a doubt the most important people in her life. She knew that they would always be there for her and unlike the people she slept with, she wanted them to be there. She gave him a quick side hug and nodded again at the idea of coffee. "Caffeine. Never a bad thing. I'm in for that." Not that she needed it to be energetic but it was good too.
A smirk at his assertion. "Or I could drag you back into the outside world to get some more." Because he sometimes needed to get out of the house. Sunlight and fresh air were important to have.
----
He smiled brightly. Yes, coffee. He had more coffee in his veins then blood. Which was probably not all that good. "Good, as long as you don't mind me getting three coffee's in the span of an hour."
"Why would I need to do that? Sun never helped as much as books." He put his arm out for her to take as they started down the sidewalk.
