Ophelia hurried from the front of the house up the stairs, her hand covering her pocket to protect her miniaturized purchases as she ran. It had been a nice enough time out honestly, and she came back with sweets for herself and Orestes, which made it even better. Once she got up the stairs she murmured a spell. Good. It was just him there for now. She pulled out her bag, tapping it and regrowing the food and paints to their normal size before she walked into the room.
A smile curved her lips as she saw her brother there and she set the bag down before crawling into the bed and hugging him tightly. "I brought cake. Chocolate. Missed you though." A small smile and she curled against him, resting there comfortably.
Time spent without his sister was always spent the same way, lost in some book. He was constantly reading. For Orestes it was his one escape after all. He only wished that he was able to write as well as he read, but that wasn’t something he’d tried for before. Plus, what would he wrote? Theoretical nonsense or ancient history that he found fascinating? He wasn't that Meru in the Ravenclaw house, and he wasn't a historian either.
Hearing the door open though, he glanced up and smiled. Seeing Lia always managed to push his uncertainties away and leave him feeling good about things. With a smile, he waved her over and hugged her close. “Chocolate? That actually sounds really good.” He shifted one arm around her as she cuddled and used the other to close his book. “So where did you go today?”
Of course he was in a book. She had that as an escape sometimes, but she was much more likely to hide herself in her art or in making potions. Ophelia smiled affectionately at the sight, as she always did. She loved her brother beyond reason and she knew he did her as well. It was how they functioned.
A grin at the statement that chocolate sounded good and she nodded. "I thought you'd approve. I went to the art shop and then the bakery. Took a bit longer. Ran into someone from the school literally, got cake all over me." She laughed and snuggled under his arm comfortably, arms wrapping tightly around him.
Placing the marked book down, Orestes shifted so he could give his sister all of his attention and smiled. She seemed in such a good mood today. It was nice. He loved her best when she was like this, as she probably was meant to be without the darkness of their parents looming over them constantly.
“Oh? Who’d you run into? And what do you mean that you got cake all over you? Were they holding one when you bumped into them?” He chuckled lightly at the idea and shook his head. His sister did have a tendency to get distracted from the world around her when her mind was focused on something.
“Derek. He was a few years ahead of us. Three I think, something like that.” Ophelia rested her head against her brother’s chest and closed her eyes, her fingers moving to stroke through his hair. She knew he liked being petted that way, she and she liked making him happy that way. Small things always worked for them, it was natural for them to touch and hold each other for comfort and affection, as they didn’t get it anywhere else.
“How has it been here?” She didn’t know when her parents had left the house and so she didn’t know when he had been left to himself. It did not seem that anything bad had happened, since he was resting, but one never knew with the way the household was.
“Oh yeah, I think he’s in charge of magical creature class now at Hogwarts.”He knew the man since he was in the Slytherin house together with them. but not much about him beyond that. He was just about as private about himself as they were.
Feeling Lia’s fingers through his hair, Res closed his eyes and let out a content rumble and relaxed. Lia alway did know how to make him feel content and happy. ‘Mmmm, quiet. They are gone I believe. so I’ve almost finished my book.”
Ophelia nodded slightly. She didn’t pay much attention to things like that, but she had known he was in their house. “He had cake and we had a run in outside. Accidently grabbed my wrist.” She wrinkled her nose at that- touching was a strange thing for her and she tended to avoid it with people that were not Orestes.
“They were here when I left, but gone now. Hopefully stays that way.” She would have no issue with their parents never coming back now that they were both of age. “I’m glad it was quiet for you.”
The idea of someone else touching his sister like that earned a frown. He didn’t like people doing that to her. especially if she did not want it. “A run? Are we the type to run now?” He tried to tease, not wanting to seem irritated at the idea.
“They have some function to go to as usual. It’s nice that they keep such a full calendar of social events while we’re here. Keeps us from the misfortune of running into them.” He nuzzled against her hand lightly, trying to induce more petting, feeling much like a cat.
“It was an accident, and a run in, not a run.” Ophelia laughed softly and kissed his chin, leaning slightly from her laying down position. She knew how he felt about touch directed at her. She accepted it, since it was part of how they related.
“Good. Maybe they’ll get lost on the way back.” A teasing laugh and she continued to stroke his hair, obviously responding to him reacting as he did. She enjoyed that he liked it so much. She liked having him happy and feeling good, it meant a lot to her to be able to make him happy.
“Ah, sorry. The pettig is quite a distraction.” He said with a happy rumble shifting to lay down with her, moving to make a tangle of limbs with their legs as if it was a way to get closer than before. He smiled down at her at the light kiss and moved to kiss her forehead.
“If only they would, get splitched due to drinking and apparating. One could only hope that was possible.” He said, a low chuckle at the idea of their parents being in pieces. It was macabre, but they deserved it. “Oh, a little to the left Lia.” He said as he wrapped his arms around her waist, holding her closer.
Ophelia smiled at the statement about the petting being distracting. She was glad to be able to provide that for him. He sometimes thought too much and she appreciated that she could give his mind a break.
"One could hope." She spoke softly, but she too felt the same. Their parents being gone would be no loss to either of them and they both knew it. When he instructed her as to where to direct her petting she moved her hand, stroking along his hair gently. It was safe being with him, and that meant everything to her honestly.
Pulling her a little closer, he nuzzled her lightly and took a slow inhale of her hair and smiled. It was nice to just have her close. No one made her feel more at ease than she did.
“You know, if you keep petting me then I’m just going to fall asleep on you.” He said with a low rumble as he nuzzled her again. She was the only one that he was ever really affectionate with like this. Touch wasn’t strange with the two of them. It was the only place they got such affection after all, and their parents could care less.
Ophelia was pleased by the touch and the fact that he was with her. While she knew it was strange, there was no one she could be quite as comfortable and settled with. He was home for her more than the house and the rest of the family.
"You can. I'll stay with you." Because if he was tired she wanted him to rest. She didn't want him to be tired or uncomfortable. Her fingers traced through his hair gently and moved to kiss his forehead, snuggling close to him.
“But if I sleep then I don't get to stay away and talk with you. I missed you while you were gone.” Even if it was only for a little time. Orestes didn't care that it might be a little clingy, but he loved being around Lia. No one else made him quite so happy or understood him quite so well.
“How about some of that cake?” He asked, but did not untangle himself from her. Not yet, not untl she moved away. He would just lay there a little longer. “I’m sure it will wake me up.”
"But I'll be here. I'll always be here." It was true. She needed to be with him and nothing could change that. She stroked over his hair again gently and nuzzled her face against him, settling comfortably.
"Cake. Yes." She grabbed the closest wand to them and murmured "accio" softly, pointing at the bag. The cake was well wrapped and her wand skills were good enough that she was able to catch it before the cake got messed up. She opened the container and plucked up a fork, scooping a bite for him and offering it.
“I know you will, but you also probably would enjoy me actually awake to talk with you.” he did shift though so he was in a more upright position as she reached and picked up his wand to summon the cake to them both.
Seeing the cake, his stomach grumbled a little. It really did look fantastic. When offered the bite, he immediately leaned foward and ate it. “Mmmm that is really good.” He moved to take the fork from her and then offer her a bite as well. “Your turn Lia.”
Ophelia snuggled herself so she was slightly closer to him as he moved and nodded. "Of course. I like having you to talk to." He was the only one she could legitimately and constantly say that too. Other people made her uneasy. Orestes was safe and she loved him.
A smile curved her lips as he ate the cake, and she opened her mouth to eat the piece he offered her. "Very good, yes." She liked things better when she could share them and so being in their room with the family gone and the pair free to eat and enjoy each other's company was wonderful to her.
Res smiled as he slid an arm around her and kept her body close to his. It felt right to be this close to him. He loved her and this was how people showed their love. At least that was how they saw it, and how books taught. It wasn't as if they had many other examples from their youth after all.
“You’ve got a little by on the edge of your lip.” He said as he reached out to rub it off the edge and then popped it into his mouth, licking it clean. “So, after cake, anything you’re interested in doing?”
Ophelia appreciated the closeness. They so rarely had affection in their lives and so it was good to get it from each other. There really didn't seem to be any other way. They cared about each other and so making sure needs were met was important to both of them.
She laughed when he wiped her mouth and then shrugged. "I don't know. We could read a little, or just curl up together for a while?" She wasn't picky as long as she was with him.
He chuckled as well before offering her another bite and then taking one for himself, making sure they were both able to get some.
"Mmm we could. Of course I could always just tickle you instead." He said before suddenly reaching out to tickle her side, feeling a bit playful.
She took the bite when it was offered, smiling at him as she finished it. The cake was good. Fast energy provided and a bit of awesome flavor? It worked for her, that was for sure.
When he started to tickle her she giggled, squirming a bit to try and get away. She didn't mind too much, since it was him, but he obviously wanted to play and tease so she was happy to play along.
Watching her giggle just made him smile wide and continue to tickle her. “Now now little sister, no need to start running away.” He chided with a grin before moving to pull her back and closer to him.
He loved to see her smile and watch her be happy. It was such a rare thing that he would do anything for it. He would move the moon and stars if it would make her laugh like this. Fortunately, he just needed to tickle her a bit and watch as her cheeks grew rosey and her laughter rang like bells.
She giggled harder as he pulled her close, continuing to tickle. Her body writhed slightly, trying to squirm away but really not trying very hard. The tickling was part of a game for them and she knew it, and she knew how much he loved to hear her laugh.
When she felt like she couldn’t take any more though she moved her own arm, attempting to retaliate though she was pretty sure it would not do all that much good. She wriggled a little more, trying to get to him, still giggling hard and gasping slightly for air from all the laughter.
Feeling her fingers try to tickle him back, he began to chuckle, more from amusement rather than from actually being tickled. “Really Lia? Think you can get me?” Though when she started to finally wigggle away and gasp, he stopped tickling and instead reached out to pull her close to him once more.
“Now that I’ve got you, what should I do with you Lia?” He said, a small smirk crossing his lips as he looked over her, pretending to feel like a wolf looking over his little prey.
Ophelia giggled and nodded at his question, though she was well aware she probably couldn't. "Res! Stooooop!" Because she couldn't breathe now, with all the laughing. The pulling her close though? That was okay and she liked it a lot.
"Not tickle me anymore?" A smile curved her lips and she leaned to teasingly kiss his nose, snuggling against him comfortably.
He did cease his tickling finally, but not his hold on his sister. Instead, he just shifted back and looked down at her, loving just how beautiful she looked flushed like that. He wished that things could always be like this .
“I guess, but then what should I do instead? I mean simply laying here is rather droll. I could try to eat you.” He said, playfully snapping his teeth at her a few times.
Ophelia met his eyes and grinned brightly, all tickling forgiven. "I'm glad you're here, Res." She leaned to kiss his nose softly, her expression calm and happy.
Another giggle though when he teased about eating her. It was nice being playful with him. She wasn't able to as much when their parents were home, but when it was just them? She was able to be herself and so was he, and it meant the world to her.
He smiled at the light kisses on his nose. She was always sweet like that. His sunshine sister. there was nothing he wanted more than to make her smile like that forever. “And I’m glad you are here. I don't know what I ever would have done without you, my Lia.” He kissed her forehead shifted so she was laying between his legs and he could cuddle her.
“Though I still think I should make my lunch of you. You look so delicious.”
Ophelia smiled happily and snuggled her face into his neck, her arms moving to hold him close to her. She was glad he was always there for her and she agreed that she didn't know what she would have done without him. "Always yours, Res. Nothing will change that."
A soft giggle and she shook her head teasingly. "You can try? I'm always yours. Like I said."
Res just smiled and held her close. Merlin did he love her. "And I am always your's. Nothing can change that. Soon enough I'll take you away from here."
He chuckled. "Maybe I will later. Gobble you all up." He teased, but he was eased into calm now by holding her so close. "I love you lia."
