It isn't unusual for me to be in the stands watching Quidditch when Ravenclaw is playing... but not when Slytherin is also playing. It was harder than expected. Everyone played great, but and it was nice to see my teammates get the victory after what happened in our first game of the year.

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes and more. It was very nice day. woke up with Jackson and will probably go to bed with him. It spent the day with friends and family which was really pleasant. It is always awkward having a birthday so near the holiday, but even so Mom and Dad gave me some new clothes and Wallace even remembered to owl. We all had dinner at a restaurant near the Gallery which was really good. They had this chocolate dessert that was indescribable.

It's only when I'm packing that I realize how many things I have gathered over the years. I have some things that I probably should get rid of, and some that I will donate when I get back home. My trunk is just going to get heavier with the holiday shopping I have to do in Hogsmeade tomorrow. I also rarely realize how many of you I adore, so just to have it on record- even if it doesn't always seem that way and I'm a jackass sometimes, you're all valuable to me and I love you all.

And yes, anytime the tablets opened up, short of muting everything, they played. And they played all the time.-

This day has been beyond strange and it doesn't seem like I'm the only one going through it either. Magic hasn't worked at all, no matter what I do, I'm just stuck sitting here with nothing. So trying to do homework or play wizard's chess have been a flop as well.

It's been kind of a long week, but it's almost the weekend now, which is nice. I'm considering going home to New Orleans for Thanksgiving. My parents love the holiday, so it might be pleasant. It is kind of nice that to have a weekend without any specific plans beyond Quidditch practice. After what felt like a week straight of celebrations and birthdays, beginning with Molly and Jackson and continuing through the multiple celebrations of Halloween and then the after Halloween birthday party, and not ending until Gabe’s booze-drenched fire in Slytherin Thursday night...

The tension is building now that the first game of the year is just a week away. Professor Stark is vetting the scouts who have been contacting me and working with Headmaster Emrys to simultaneously ensure they have access to the game, but ensure they do not have access beyond the Quidditch pitch for the afternoon. Several teams are interested, especially with the Battye-Stark rumors. And the European League is even going to send its American representative.

It is the privilege of men to be wanted and prized for what they can do, create, achieve. Women, through time, are prized for being pretty, petite, pliable, and submissive. We are recognized not for who we are, how smart we are, how powerful we are, but for what designers we wear and who we have married. It is enough to make me wonder sometimes how I, and those around me, will fit in the world where intelligent and capable women are so often put down, negated, spoken over and ignored. The top of the chain is white, male, heterosexual and cisgender. Where is the place for the rest of us, and when will intelligence be enough?

In the same vein, when will it be okay for males to be weak? Why can they not show real emotion without being labeled and ignored? Why can we just not all find an accord?


Sexy Halloween costumes just continue this oppression - seeking attention for our bodies and not our minds. I hope some outside of me will seek out more unique and interesting themes than sexy animals and such. We are so much more.

My parents, Isolde and Jonathan Smith are my parents; they raised me. And I am lucky to have Narissa as my sister. Hello,

As I have now settled into my office and am more comfortable in the castle proper, this week beginning tomorrow I will be spending time in each house's common rooms. This is as much to get to know everyone and interact with you on a daily basis that I do not get. It won't be every day or at a set time as I still want to be available in my office.

No one is obligated to speak to me, and of course not expected to speak of confidential matters in front of your peers. I will have books and tea with me, along with a formidable knowledge of muggle movies, folk tales, and astronomy, so don't think I am just there to analyze everyone :)

I look forward to speaking with everyone, and seeing what the common rooms are like.

Greetings Hogwarts,

My name is Dr. Raava Balan, I was brought on by the Headmaster after recent events. I apologize it has taken longer than expected for me to arrive, I was held up by unforeseeable events. Starting today, I am here full time.

What you need to know about me.

- I was educated in both London and India
- I have attended both Muggle medical universities and Wizarding medical schools as well.
- I have never attended Hogwarts, I have no bias towards any of the houses.
- I am here to assist with grief counseling, conflicts between you and your peers or your professors.
- I am also available for career counseling, and overall future planning.
- I can assist with helping students who come from predominantly muggle households adjust to living in the wizarding world, and help discuss difficult topics with your families.
- I am also available if the staff need to talk as well.

It will take me a bit to get my office organized, but even with boxes everywhere I have an open door policy, and many teas for anyone who comes by. After I get settled in I plan on visiting the common rooms, all of them, I've read they are quite cozy.



So who wants to give me a tour? Studying a map is very different than the real thing! I am very excited to be here. My office is down the hall from the infirmary.
