Her heart went out to him. It seemed like everyone had come to the carnival from a time other than the one they had been brought to, but this one she imagined was from a completely different world. The difference in dates would be so vast that he might as well have been from a different planet.
Henley considered telling him it would do no good, but she bit her tongue. Again, she didn’t want to take all hope away from him. Anyone who actually wanted to do that, in her opinion, was just cruel. She was a lot of things, but cruel was not one of them.
“I’ll walk you to the trailer and you can take it from there. Sound good?” Though the situation wasn’t pleasant for anyone involved, Henley managed a hint of a polite smile. She took a few steps before turning back to the Duke and nodding in the direction of Management’s trailer. “This way. I’m Henley Reeves. What do I call you?”
