“Well, if this situation doesn’t open your mind a little I don’t think much can.” She smiled faintly. Oh, she was still plenty pissed that she was where she was and not in a more familiar setting, but she could appreciate how bizarre and out of the norm time travel was. It frustrated her, but it also fascinated her a little bit.
“You want to know something crazy?” She continued without waiting for an answer from him. “The biggest job of my life, more or less, was waving a stick and pretending I was doing magic. This is what I do back home.” Henley sighed a little, remembering how it felt to be on a real stage with an audience of hundreds watching. “I mean, it’s different. I’m no one’s assistant back home and the tricks are more sophisticated and generally fun to perform, but the same gyst.”
“What did Management interrupt for you?” Henley asked, not wanting to hijack the whole conversation with talk only about her own life and job. It seemed like an innocent enough question to her when she asked it, but soon after she found herself wondering if she should have gotten into his business like that.
“Tease.” She laughed, folding her arms across her chest.
