Hogwarts Carefree OOC

The ad campaign is paying off. We are up one player. Everyone please welcome Mark who brings us Snitch Lynch.

This brings our total active players to 5. Two more and we will open up the game for play. Feel free in the mean time to begin talking with each other about where your characters stand with each other and begin thinking plottage.

Rules

1. Respect the mods. We are here to help with any problems and to keep the game fun, we can only do this if we have the respect from the players.

2. No Godmodding. Godmodding is when you control what another character does without permission from the characters player. For example:
Luna walked down the hall and spotted Harry and Ginny making out by the broom closet. She quickly turned around to give them privacy and decided to go a different way to class.
Harmless as it seems, unless you have the permission from the Harry and/or Ginny player this is Godmodding. DO NOT do it.

3. Don't go overboard on the sex plots. Yes our characters range to the age where sex is a definate possibility, but be realistic. A 14 year old boy isn't going to have sex with a 14 year old girl every day in the broom closet after class. The castle is highly supervised and it's very unlikely that 14 year olds would be having sex all willy nilly.

4. Lock all NC-17 threads. Our game is open to all ages so if your character has decided to be sexually active, then post the thread with proper tags, warnings, and make sure it's locked to all under 18's.

5. Dn't use txt lingo n ur threads. If you are passing a note to another character or commenting on a personal journal and you believe that your character would write in text lingo, then by all means go for it. But threads are to be in proper writing form. Use correct grammar and try to keep all typos to a minimum.

6. Keep ooc drama ooc. Holy smokes! James Potter is starting horrible rumors about your character! How rude! You HATE James Potter! BUT you have no reason to hate our dear Felicia. Yes IC drama can sometimes seep into OOC but try to know the difference. If you have a standing problem with someone, tell a mod and let the mods deal with it.

7. Stay active. Post a thread or journal at least once a week. Comments are fantastic but you need to thread and journal as well. If you go beyond a week without activity, you'll be nudged. After two weeks we'll give you a warning. And after three weeks it's expulsion. If you reach the warning stage three times you'll be kicked as well.

8. Use LJ cuts. Private thoughts, private messages to specific characters, large pictures, and Owls should all be posted under the cut and labled accordingly.

9. When you write and/or respond to a thread your response must be at least 100 words. We are here to have fun but it's no fun for serious role players to have to play with responses like " she walked down the hall and waved." That will not cut it and we expect detailed responses in threads. The proper response to the question " Anything you want to add?" on the application is "I want to be an auror when I grow up."  To come up with good responses think of what your character is feeling. Are they cold? sweaty? Nervous? Happy? Could you describe how the room looks? Is there a link you could use to make the experience better? Go all out on responses.

10.Keep the mods informed of your Real life interruptions. Real life is more important than the role play. If your child has a field trip or if your husband gets tickets to an all paid vacation or if your school exams are coming up and you want to study more or if you even just want to take a week to get back into your groove let us know! Tell us how long you think you'll be on hiatus, let us know that you may be mia for a while. You will not be in trouble for going on hiatus.

11. Have fun! yeah yeah it's cliche but we demand that you have fun!

For the Fourth Year Potions Classes.

This is the Babbling Beverage that was assigned to be brewed. The difficulty of this potions is mostly the many different ingredients ((the professor also specified that it must taste good, so students must choose from the ingredients that make it taste better as well)) and their combination. If the ingredients are put in wrong or the wrong number or in any different order, the potion turns out wrong.

The babbling beverage causes the drinker to babble nonsense for exactly one hour after it touches the tongue of the drinker. If brewed wrong, the side effects may be:

- babbling for longer than an hour
- babbling in a different language than the drinker's native language
- babbling so much that the drinker forgets to breath (this only happens if the brew contains less than 17 quills from a Bowtruckle's back)

Combinations of the side effects is also possible. So be cautious!


Babbling Beverage

You will need:
1 daffodil root, chopped neatly
40 fluid ounces of dragon milk
Half a horn from a horned toad
4 butterfly wings (the more colourful and exotic your choice, the stronger the potion will be)
A pinch of lovage leaves
10 fluid ounces of catsbane
17 quills from a Bowtruckle's back
(optional) If you would like your potion to actually taste good, you may flavour it with any of the following ingredients which have been accredited as unable to affect the potion's strength: vanilla pods, the skin of an apple, strawberry-flavoured gum (real strawberries render the potion completely useless), or a used teabag (unused teabags have too much strength and they, too, render the potion pointless).

Instructions:
Place the chopped-up daffodil root into the container of dragon milk. Stir until it turns deep green, then place in pre-heated cauldron. Leave to simmer for three minutes.
Add the half-horn of the horned toad. This should have no effect on the potion, but the horn should melt into a black goo at the bottom of the cauldron. This is supposed to happen - make no attempt to stir.
Add the butterfly wings one by one - as each wing goes in, the potion should begin a rapid transformation. First it will change from deep green to deep purple, then after the second or third wing will begin to fizz. Make sure you are wearing your dragon-hide gloves to protect from spatter. Once the fourth wing has been added, the potion is extremely volatile. You must move immediately to the next stage of the potion.
Add the lovage leaves. Your potion will begin to slow down immediately, as the bubbles are attracted to the leaves and eventually the leaves will dissolve, leaving a healthily bubbling potion. It is now time to begin stirring the potion again. Stir for five minutes.
Add the catsbane and stir seven times counter-clockwise - your potion should obtain silvery streaks amongst the purple liquid. Turn the cauldron on to full heat and let the potion boil for twelve to thirteen minutes.
(If you wish to flavour your potion, do so now and add an extra few stirs - the Bowtruckle quills must be the last thing added to the potion.)
Add the Bowtruckle quills and stir consistently in a counter-clockwise direction for a further two minutes. Then turn off the heat and leave to cool down for five minutes or so before bottling it. Clear up.

I really like the work Robin did on looking for possible extra classes, several of which would not be "Ministry approved" and as such not required to be taught but able to be taught if there is time in a teacher's schedule.

Some of those ideas have been mentioned and are not considered full classes. They would be activities that would be taken up by professors in their spare time to serve as advisors. So, here is the deal on those. If you have requested a class that is not considered part of the Ministry approved curriculum, I will compare your schedule to the professor's and let you know times when you and the professor are free so you could create an extra class for yourself. Just comment where your schedule is as to when you will be having that club and I will edit it into your grid.

Hello!

I just wanted to clear something with you all... Since there is nothing mentioned in the end of books as to the whereabouts of the Invisibility Cloak and the Marauder's Map, I'm thinking Harry still had possession and passed it on to his eldest son, James Sirius.

But since there really is no hard evidence of this, if anyone wants to fight for claims, or vote to rule them out of our play completely, I'm definitely up for a group debate on the topic.

Hey guys, this is Molly.

She's in Slytherin year three and she considers herself a pureblood even though she has 1/4 Veela in her. Because of that Veela blood she has a certain charm over the opposite sex but because she's not even half Veela, it's not exactly the same. They way it works is if she really wants a guys attention she gives off (want seems like) an extra dose of pheromones. It doesn't always work, because the guy doesn't always respond but because it's not a direct dose, any guy within a 5 feet radius is hit by the dose as well.

She's the daughter of Fleur and Bill Weasley, they live next door to the Burrow because Bill wanted to be close to his family after the war. Fleur's parents don't like who she married but they love their grandchildren so they're around somewhat. The Weasley/Potter clan seems to be close (i don't know if it will be developed to be very close or if people will make it normal or what) but Moll is somewhat isolated because of her sorting into Slytherin as opposed to Gryffindor like the rest of her family.

She doesn't quite fit in with Slytherin completely because of her halfbreed blood, but they accept her a lot more than they accept muggleborns and halfbloods, and because she's technically a pure blood people seem to like her just fine.

She's considered very pretty and does have a SMALL fan club of admirers. This is a group of TWO boys who basically want to do everything for her. She doesn't take advantage of them though and rarely realizes they're around. I'll probably only mention them if I'm bored and have no reason to update but want to.

She's very friendly, even to muggleborns even though she's starting to develop a slightly purist attitude. She's not a complete Purist because she doesn't hate muggles and muggleborns. She just thinks they're beneath her regardless of her halfbreed status.

So add her to your friends list. She has two blogs that are already up and ready for comments!

So as we play and build the world together I thought we could expand on the map of Diagon Alley, especially since not all the buildings are labeled.
