Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Lorna and OTA (Brotherhood)
What: Watching a film
When: Tuesday night, dinnertime
Where: The Lounge, Brotherhood headquarters
Rating: TBD

Lorna was sprawled on the couch with a cool, wet dishcloth on her forehead. She'd taken some vitamin B-6 and Unisom to help with her morning sickness, had a half-finished bottle of root beer on the coffee table, and was dazedly watching "A Fish Called Wanda" on the television. At least the channel (whatever channel it was, she'd come in after it started) was playing it without commercials.

Her eyes weren't really focused as she stared across the room at the glowing box. It was almost dinner time, and she really should eat something soon. She just didn't have the energy to get up and make herself something in the kitchen.

Rogue had made herself as comfortable as she could around the headquarters and had decided to take up some space in the lounge. With her carton of left over Chinese take-out [Sweet and Sour chicken to be precise] and bottle of water she made her way from the kitchen only to find the television on and the lounge occupied.

Her eyes zoned in on the television to realize the movie playing was one of her favorites and let out a small squeal of excitement. Feeling embarassed by the outburst she sheepishly walked over towards the couch; only to take a seat on the floor. "Mind if I join ya

Lorna glanced up, lifting the cold compress up her forehead to see who'd just come into the lounge with her. A smile crossed her features when she saw it was Rogue. "Sure." She sat up a little, feeling slightly woozy over it all.

"What're you eating?" She asked, making room on the sofa for the southern belle to join her.

She smiled as Lorna gave her some room on the couch though she could still see she was feeling ill. It wasn't neccessary but much appreciated.

"I ran to that little Chinese place 'round the corner. Some sweet n sour chicken." She held out the carton slightly. "You're welcome to some. Doubt I'm gonna finish it all."

Lorna removed the cool cloth from her head completely now. She was feeling better now that the B-6 and Unisom kicked in. Though, she was starting to feel hungry, and that was never good for morning sickness. (Which, by the way, was rare for Lorna to get in the morning. More often than not she was sick at night--and that was the worst.)

"Oh, thanks but no thanks." She said, shaking her head a little. She was in the mood for saltines and peanut butter, and anything else would turn her stomach. "But keep my seat, I'll be right back."

She hopped up from the sofa, jotted into the kitchen, and came back with saltines and peanut butter in just a minute.

Rogue shrugged at the decline of her offer. It wasn't going to break her heart that she turned her down. She did however make sure that Lorna's seat was going to be saved.

Watching her as she headed for the kitchen she could tell that Lorna caried the "glow" of a pregnant woman. She was happy for her and Alex, but the thought tugged at her own heart slightly. Her stupid powers would put that idea to a halt.

She glanced up as Lorna returned. "That was quick." She pointed out noting the saltines. "Stomach givin' ya problems?"

"Yeah," Lorna sighed a little as she flopped back down onto the sofa. "I've got a bug or something." She was grinning. Yeah, a bug. Growing in her uterus.

"Morning sickness is a bitch." She added. She wasn't sure if Rogue knew, but she figured everyone knew by now. Gossip spread like wildfire. She opened the peanutbutter and dipped one of the crackers in.

A bug, an interesting way to put it. She couldn't help chuckle slightly at the analogy that seemed to bring itself to mind. "Maybe in a couple months that bug'll turn into a cute lil butterfly."

She stabbed a piece of food with her fork [perhaps a bit viciously] and popped it in her mouth before saying anything else. "Least it doesn't last the whole time. How's Alex takin' things?"

"That's the plan, anyway." Lorna said, grinning. "And come April, let's hope it turns into a baby." She leaned back on the sofa after picking up her root beer from the coffee table.

"No, it shouldn't anyway. Something like five percent of all pregnant women are sick the whole time." She'd read that somewhere. She'd been doing a lot of reading. "Let's hope I'm not part of that five percent."

Rogue had set her foot down suddenly losing her appetite. "I'm not much of a gambler, but I'd say that ninety-five percent is the better odd here."

She scrunched her nose trying to hide the frown that was fighting its way on her face. She didn't mean to have a sudden change in mood, but the talk of bringing up a baby, let alone a mutant baby, in todays society was rather disheartening. "Hopefully by April this mess wit these robots will be taken care of."

Lorna nodded. "Me, too." She put a cracker into her mouth and chewed on it for a moment, trying not to think about giant sentinels and being hunted by humans.

"Hopefully. If not... well, he or she has a pretty powerful grandfather." She lowered her hand and ran it over her tummy. She wasn't showing in the least now (even though her jeans were a little tight, and she was wearing them with the button undone), but she was still starting to feel a connection to the seahorse growing in her uterus.

"Not to mention quite a few people that do anything they could to help"

She smiled, in a sense offering herself to that unwritten list, as she relaxed back into the sofa. She had never had the sense of a really family, but simply being here with the Brotherhood changed her perspective

Lorna nodded. She was thankful. Actually, the idea that the whole brotherhood cared enough about her and her baby to be there to support and protect her and the baby made tears spring to her eyes. Stupid hormones. She lifted her hand to wipe her cheek.

"Thanks, Rogue."

Rogue was one to let the emotions get the best of her sometimes. With Lorna though it looked like simply turning on a faucet.

"Aww its nothin' Sugah. I'd help out any way that I can" She thought a moment about the offer that just came out of her mouth. Perhaps she should have phrased that better. "Jus' don't ask me to change any diapers."

Lorna laughed through her tears. She shook her head a little, pulling some kleenex out of her pocket to wipe at her face. "I promise. I'm planning on making Alex change all the diapers, anyway." She grinned, wet eyes and pink cheeks.

"But thanks. I really appreciate it."
