No, no. We're all in this together. This is a full-blown, four-alarm holiday emergency here.
We're gonna press on, and we're gonna have the hap, hap, happiest Christmas
since Bing Crosby tapdanced with Danny-fuckin’-Kaye.
And when Santa squeezes his fat white ass down that chimney tonight, he's gonna find

So instead of flooding the main community with a bajillion owls/presents posts, we thought it would be better to have one singular post with all the presents. Just follow this format, making sure to including character's name, recipient's name, gift (links are absolutely NOT required!), and when it is delivered.



This is simply for fun, and not required. We know that shopping for people (and especially fictional characters!) can be hard, so don't feel obligated to participate in this. Happy holidays, everyone!

The choir concert was tonight! There was fake snow! Croaking toads! Beautiful solos! Not to mention free snacks and hot chocolate when it was all over.

There was an assortment of classic carols and newer selections from popular (wizard) bands. Did your character sing or attend? Did they love or hate it? Did your character sing perfectly or mess up? If there were hecklers they would have been removed by Flitwick, but otherwise there were no real disasters. Please, discuss below!

People should please pretend that I remembered to have Lisa invited people earlier! Basically, all of R7 was definitely invited + anyone else who is friends with Michael. She would have went around and invited people personally.

Morag helped with decorations! I'm going to say they commandeered a classroom and there was some food and sweets and Lisa encouraged everyone to sing happy birthday! There was also a cake, because birthdays aren't birthdays without a proper cake, okay? Lisa absolutely had charmed streamers and ribbons to dance about and there were a crap ton of party horns, traditional like that and also ones that made various funny noises.

At some point, she definitely encouraged people to go outside and have snowball fights and probably encouraged them to hit Michael with them, let's be honest. If your character might have been outside, feel free to have them join in, even if you don't think they'd have been invited to the party proper!!

CHOIR CAROL DROPBOX!

Choir has been/will be accepting requests/donations all week. Carols will be delivered over the next two weeks, spaced out to give members a break. We're going to be pretty handwavey with the details, but feel free to work out if your character sang for someone, refused to sing for someone and had be replaced, etc. We have a list of wizard carols you can request, feel free to make up your own or we can hand wave that too! Megan was wary of singing muggle carols because she doesn't want anyone in trouble. If someone is REALLY insistent she'll make it work, but she won't force anyone to sing something that could get them in trouble.

Please leave a comment if your character sent a carol to someone! They can send as many as they want, but the Choir humbly asks that you make a donation for each.

In the morning there was, unsurprisingly, an announcement. Alecto Carrow interrupted breakfast in order to address the school.

"After conversations with your Student Authority, we have decided to make some changes. We would like to present badges to the following students: Theodore Nott, Tilly Dawlish, Geoffrey Hooper, Charlotte Orpington, and Brian Finkley." After they had all come up to the front of the Great Hall, she pinned a badge to each of their robes. "You will all be a prefect in accordance with you own house, but we count on you to usher in an community of cooperation and compliance throughout the school. May the rest of you students give them the respect that they deserve. Thank you."


Privately they were given rounds schedules. Theodore Nott - R7, Tilly Dawlish and Geoffrey Hooper - G6, Charlotte Orpington - H6, Brian Finkley - R6.

As promised, Geoffrey played Wand Direction songs for Lavender. Two of them. While he would have known the tunes (THANKS TO HIS SISTER), he needed to borrow the liner notes from Lavender for the lyrics. He looked a little physically pained just considering it (and gave his guitar a reassuring "there there, it will soon be over" pat beforehand), but played and sang gamely enough.

And since misery loves company, he approached Andy about dressing up as one of the group members, but whether or not that actually happened is Clare's call. ;)

WHAT: Dorm Raids, suckers.
WHEN: Directly after dinner.

As stated in Professor Amycus Carrow's post, the Student Authority and the Carrows had dinner in Alecto Carrow's office. During dinner, the Carrows, who were obviously displeased with the latest issue of Phoenix Press, looked annoyed and on edge.

"There will be dorm raids tonight, due to the events of the student organisation known as Dumbledore's Army," Amycus grumbled, giving Draco Malfoy an annoyed look. "Like last time, there will be probity probes to assist you with catching illegal copies of Phoenix Press. If a student does not cooperate with you or you feel that they may be associated with the illegal organisation, you are to bring them directly here."

He paused for a few moments, as he headed towards Alecto's desk, where there were plenty of copies of the Phoenix Press laying around. Amycus picked one copy and examined it carefully, as though it was his first time seeing it. "Dumbledore's Army has caused much trouble for you, as well as your peers, with their constant need for dramatics. We will not be supporting such activities, and they should be punished for their actions. They spread lies and expect everyone to believe they are not directly affiliated with the terrorist organisation known as the Order of the Phoenix." Without another word from Amycus, he tossed the paper in the air as it burst into flames and only ashes fell on the floor.

"Like last time, you will be searching dorms that are not your own." Alecto began, taking over for her brother, "You will be partnered up as you search dorms for any clues about this organisation. Search through anything that you believe will be susceptible -- under beds, in trunks, in closets, in bags, etc. If students refuse to cooperate with you, bring them here and they will be given punishment accordingly."

"But," Amycus interjected, quickly. "There will be a reward waiting for the Prefect that shows initiative in this process. The Prefect Lounge will also see an improvement, if things go well."

Alecto picked up her clipboard and gave the students a stern look. "I expect this to be over within two hours. We're taking careful note of your successes and failures. Very. Careful. Note. Take your probity probe and go."

Today for DARK ARTS, Amycus announced that they would be learning the Corrosive Shield. This incantation is Mordax Scuto. The shield is a dark barrier that comes up. Like a shield during the days of old, it looks to attach itself to the other arm of the caster, so they need to duck behind it to block any spells. The stronger someone casts the spell, the bigger the shield is.

Partners are supposed to practice simple spells against each other.

Tonight was the annual Halloween concert! There were costumes! Backdrops! Props! ACTUAL FOG! Hell, there was even some signing. The whole affair lasted 30-45 minutes and light refreshments were served afterwards. The concert wasn't as traditional as in years past and there was even some (minor) choreography.

Did your character attend? Choke? Go sharp? Go Flat? Were they more impressed by the toads than the students? Discuss!

Finally at 7 AM, the Slytherin dorms are open again to students. They're allowed to leave The Great Hall, get out of their costumes, shower, and try to salvage their things.

Headmaster Snape makes an official announcement at breakfast. He is more cantankerous than usual:

"We hope that the student body had fun with the Bulgarian circus troupe last night. It was Amycus and Alecto Carrow who saw that project through, and overall it was a very uniquely festive experience enjoyed by all. Thank you."

He would have started an applause, but it was short-lived.

"Unfortunately, there will be no big celebrations to follow Fangtastic this year due to repeated offenses by unruly students. Unsurprisingly, the three responsible for last night's flooding debacle are Neville Longbottom, Ginny Weasley, and Luna Lovegood." He would have paused for reactions from the student body, which were probably a whole lot of whispers, chatter, gasps, and angry looks from Slytherin over toward Gryffindor and Ravenclaw.

"For their not-so-ingenious prank," Snape continued calmly, "they are to each write a letter not only the administration as a formal apology -- as Professor Slughorn, Professor Flitwick, Mr. Filch, and myself had to sacrifice sleep last night clearing all the remnants of water and making quite certain the pipes were realigned properly -- but also to all of Slytherin. As for the personal damages suffered by Slytherin students...well. I'm certain they can give some money toward reparations. Or not, depending on circumstance."

He would have looked directly at Ginny and smirked after that pointed remark.

"Further punishments are still in process, but Gryffindor has regretfully lost their team captain." Snape would have paused again for reactions. "The Carrows are working with Professor McGonagall to find a suitable replacement and it will be announced quite soon so Quidditch practices may commence as per usual."

Snape would have looked to the Carrows to ask if they would like to speak. Neither wanted to, so he wrapped things up quickly. "It is with my deepest regret that the student body as a whole must suffer due to the unfortunate choices of a select few. The new administration has been kind, but when kindness is taken advantage of...perhaps some changes are in order."

And with that, Snape would have stepped down off the podium, his black robes billowing behind him as he went and took his seat for breakfast.

MUGGLE STUDIES

Today, in Muggle Studies, there was a discussion regarding the recent artwork around the castle. Alecto would have talked about how these paintings were considered "famous" and they were works of "art" by famous artists, but then went on to state how they were clearly deranged, considering the caliber of their artwork. She asked everyone to share their opinions, and points were given to those who had creative/unique responses.
