Summary: Remus comes out to his friends about his furry little problem.
Remus knew by the looks in their faces it was time to tell them the truth.
“I, er, have something to tell you,” he mumbled, suddenly interested in his feet.
James and Sirius exchanged looks as Peter looked up from his charms essay. Remus glanced around the empty common room, glad for the quiet of the late night.
The pause grew long as Remus lost himself in his thoughts. A gentle shake from James finally brought him out of his reverie.
“You were saying?”
Remus blushed profusely. “Er… Imawerewolf.” Silence followed for a moment before Sirius let loose with his bark-like laugh. Remus’ face flushed more.
“I’m serious.”
“I’m Sirius!” Sirius managed between bouts of laughter. The other three rolled their eyes at the overused joke. Remus faced James to find him adjusting his glasses.
“We knew. We’ve known for awhile now, Remus.”
Remus’ eyes grew wide “But….”
James was already digging in his bag for something, finally pulling out a book and handing it to him.
Animagi
“We’re working on a solution.” Sirius stopped laughing and watched as realization dawns upon Remus’ face.
“You’re going to…oh Merlin.” Sirius and James grinned as Remus shook his head in disbelief.

Ink dripped on Remus’ Arithmancy essay as a hand grabbed the back of his jumper, pulling him towards the stairs to the dorms. He barely managed a yelp before the door to the dorm he shared with the other Marauders shut.
His eyes widened when he noticed a large stag standing in the middle of the room with a rat upon it’s head. The grip on his jumper disappeared and he saw a movement to his side that caught his attention, and upon turning that way, finding a large, black, bear-like dog grinning at him.
Remus turned his attention back to the stag and the rat. The stag lowered it’s head and the rat scampered onto the bed. After a brief moment, Peter sat where the rat had been, and James shifted back into his human form, wide grin upon his face as he registered Remus’ reaction. The dog nudged his hand and he absently started petting it.
“You did it.” James nodded, still grinning as Sirius shifted back to his human self again.
“The full moons are ours for the taking now, Moony. Just think of it- the four of us cantering about under its heavy light. Nothing holding us back.”
“Pads?”
“Yes?”
“I get the idea. Thank you.”

Two weeks later, Professor Dumbledore happened to glance out his window to find the strangest gathering of animals on the grounds. Chuckling to himself, he turned from the window to let the horse, wolf, dog and rat to dance under the moonlight.
