Arnie. Introducing Elphaba Thropp
Because I couldn't resist.
name: Arnie
ij/lj username: scv_goodtogo
are you over 18?: Yup.
how can we contact you?: See here
character’s name: Elphaba Thropp
character’s journal: norestforwicked
fandom: Wicked
medium: Book
version: Book; the PB is from the musical, the version starring Idina Menzel
point in canon: The end of Book 1, Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, right from where Dorothy splashes her with water.
how does your character look like?: Probably the first thing people would notice, looking at Elphaba, is her green skin, but her personality contributes too to the eerie vibe she gives. She is tall and slender (bony even)with long black hair, kept nowadays knotted up under a black hat. Her chin in profile could "slice a salami", but she is considered quite pretty, albeit not in a feminine way.
pb: Idina Menzel
does the character have supernatural/magical/preternatural powers? Elphaba has an innate ability for magic, though she lacks the conscious control over it: a lake is frozen, an icicle falls on someone's head, bees kill a cook - all that happening when she was distressed/angry. She can, of course, fly her broom, but only because the broom is itself magical.
does your character have any ‘normal’ talents? She can sing very well, though it's not something she does often. Also, she's quite quick in grasping scientific experiments.

describe your character’s personality As her typist sees it, Elphaba's main trait is intensity. She has the drive to fight for the things she believes in and she does that with sarcasm and witticism. Unfortunately, she doesn't understand her full potential, thus leading to most of the failures in her life.
While she seems to be a misanthrope, there are a select few Elphaba cares about with great devotion. However, she doesn't like to be associated with humans, as she sees herself more like an Animal, in addition to seeing herself as soulless. More-so, she doesn't waste time with foolishness.
Elphaba's lethal allergy to water might be one of the reasons why she never cries.
familiarize us with your character’s history Elphaba has had a difficult childhood - frowned upon for her skin condition and always in the shadow of her sister Nessarose. At Shiz University she sinks deeper in philosophy and becomes an activist for Animal rights, making few friends in the process; but after the assasination of her favorite Goat proffessor she moves to the Emerald City, erasing her trail. A few years later, on the verge of a revolution that was supposed to bring down the Wizard, she reencounters Fyiero and the two of them start a love affair, which leads to his death (though in typist's opinion his sheer folly killed him).
The underground resistance movement also fails and Elphaba is refused not only forgivness by Fyiero's wife, but also aknowledgement of the situation and closure, as Sarima doesn't want to speak of it. Caught in research and worried about the path Nessarose chose, she is devastated when at the death of her sister she is also refused her shoes, a symbol of her father's affection. Bitter and paranoid now, she is "killed" by Dorothy accidentaly, leaving a son behind and lots of unfinished business.
