Buffyverse Top 5 of the Year

Hello everyone

I'm not sure if any of our subscribers here at IJ are actively watching this community, but in light of the IJ Asylum Meme, and the end of the 2008 run at LJ, I thought I would offer some suggestions for the future of this community here.

I still intend to mirror the Top 5 content on LJ over here at IJ for preservation purposes. However it occurred to me that Top 5 here could serve a different function. Given the low levels of activity here for the Whedon fandoms, I thought that Top 5 might be opened here year-round as a general recs community -- a complement to the LJ site rather than a duplicate.

If anyone is watching this, I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts.

Thanks to those who gave their opinions in the poll we've been running on LJ and IJ. It seems as if the opinion is in favor of adding Firefly recs to our sessions and against the idea of having the IJ site be separate from the LJ site.

This means that after our Classic Recs and 2007 sessions we'll be looking to upload the LJ content over on IJ as a back-up site. This also means that those of you who read in the Firefly as well as Buffyverse fandoms should start getting some lists together! (And as always crossover recs between the Buffyverse and other fandoms are welcome.)

We have some Classic Recs icons below that you can snag and our sites are now decked out for the coming holiday. So spread the word that there'll be some treats for the taking come Halloween!( Read more... )

Hello everyone! This is a reminder to start making your Top 5 lists for the Classic Recs weekend, which will begin posting at midnight GMT, October 27.

A couple of new things this year. We have a poll here to ask what members think of including Firefly/Serenity recs in the Classic Recs or 2007 Recs this year? We know they have appeared before in crossover lists, so it seems at least some posters also read in that fandom. Let us know

We also want to ask members how Top 5 on IJ should be used. We are willing to moderate both communities during the open posting periods but we want to know what your opinions are on that.

There are no plans to have Top 5 at other journal sites, however anyone who would like to read it elsewhere should feel free to set up a syndicated feed. Top 5 has had its settings put at "Summary" so there should be no problem with utilizing a feed elsewhere.

Regardless of the poll results The Community List continues to be open to mods to post announcements about their communities whether they are on LJ, GJ, IJ or other sites. So if you have new communities to pimp, click on over and do so.
