After Angel helps Buffy fight off an attack from a group of fierce vampires, they go back to her place to hide out. Angel stays the night (and the next day) and when Buffy returns home from school they kiss for the first time, but Angel pulls away and when he turns back we discover he is a vampire. The next day Darla goes to Buffy's house posing as a classmate and Joyce invites her in, Darla then drinks from Joyce but leaves in time to frame Angel. Buffy then goes to confront Angel, but discovers the truth and that he is not evil as he has had his soul restored by a Gypsy curse. Darla, however, interrupts, accompanied by two guns, in an attempt to kill Buffy, but Angel stakes Darla instead, and then disappears.
Before she knew he was a vampire, why did Buffy have Angel stay at her house for a whole day instead of having him just go home after sunrise? Did she think he'd be safer in her bedroom than in his own?
In the hospital, Buffy says, "I invited him into my home, even after I knew who he was, what he was, and I didn't do anything about it." This is incorrect. Buffy hadn't spoken to Angel since she found out what he was, and she invited him into her home before she knew.
When Angel explains how his soul was returned to him, he states that he killed a girl from the Romani clan. However it was the Kalderash clan, Romani is a gypsy language.
When Darla opens Angel's fridge, there are several packets of hospital issued blood, however it's later revealed that Angel refuses to drink human blood.
Episode Notes & Trivia:
When Darla pulls open the blinds, both she and Angel are able to stand in the ambient light without apparent harm, so it would seem that in the universe of Buffy, only direct sunlight can harm a vampire.
This is the first episode where Buffy is trained to use weapons besides stakes. She uses a staff and immediately graduates to a crossbow (which will have later importance this season.)
Music:
Sophie Selmani - "I'll Remember You" (plays as Buffy and Angel talk and kiss in the Bronze at the end.)
