Funeral For A Friend

[info]ripper_giles
[info]btvsal

Who: Giles, open to anyone who'd be there
Where:  Los Angeles National Cemetery
When: Sunday morning

This, to Rupert Giles, was the hardest part of being in charge of the new Watchers Council. The part... where you had to bury your own. In this case, it was time to lay Amidala Morrison-McConnell to rest. For obvious reasons, her body couldn't be buried... and she knew that was going to happen, which made it worse. The girl knew, going into the battle with Wolfram & Hart, that she wasn't coming back. She knew that she had messed with the timestream too much, that she was becoming an entirely different person. And rather than sulk or be depressed, she used her remaining time to help defend her comrades.

Giles stood in front of the shiny, silver casket. He knew that inside were merely a lock of the slayer's golden hair and her favorite outfit. That technically... that (along with their memories) was all that was left of her. But she'd given her life to defend them all... and Giles was going to make sure she got the farewell that she deserved.

He turned, looking out to those gathered. Due to the sensitive nature of who she was, it was a private ceremony. Only slayers, watchers, people who knew precisely who and what she was, were allowed to attend. Clearing his throat, and calming himself, Giles began to speak to those in attendance.

"Today... we gather here for one of the hardest, most agonizing things we've ever had to do: lay to rest Amidala Morrison-McConnell. She was a lot of things to us. A slayer... a friend..." he looked at Anna, "a daughter... " his gaze travelled to Pat, to Skylar, and to Gwen, "a girlfriend." And then his eyes fell on Andrew, who he knew was taking this extremely hard. "Even if she was a normal girl, she would be unforgettable. But this girl, her abilities and her bravery, was unique in every way. She had been from the future: the genetic DNA of two different slayers. She'd had speed, strength, agility, and fighting prowess unlike any Slayer before her. And yet, underneath it all, beneath the warrior's traits, she was the kindest, most gentle soul I've ever known. She touched, in some way, every one of our lives. And in the end... she sacrificed herself to save every one of us, and those we love. Today... we gather to say goodbye to a warrior... a teammate... and a friend. I know several of you are going to want to say something. So, whoever would like to go first... please."

The Grand Finale

[info]ripper_giles
[info]btvsal
Who: All involved in the W&H battle
Where: The alley behind The Sugar Shack, then Salacia
When: Wednesday morning, just before dawn

This was it. The more Rupert Giles thought about it... the more he feared that Ash's joke was actually RIGHT. He felt like he was leading his troops to The Alamo. He'd arrived first, followed closely by Ash, who he had open the portal to Salacia. They were all about to go into battle against the forces of Wolfram & Hart. Now... as he watched everyone arriving... he knew it was time. Do or die.

"Well... are we all ready? As much as it pains me to say it... it's time. I want each one of you to look inside... and realize why you're doing this."

He looked around at the gathering troops.

"For some of us... it's revenge. For others, it's the desire to protect innocents. Regardless of your reason.. you need to focus on that. Because once we get there... it's going to get hectic, incredibly fast. We know we're going to be outnumbered... but how badly will depend on Ami's team and how quickly they can bring down the door separating the inter-dimensional bridge from the main arena."

"To all of you... thank you. And please... be safe."

And with that... Giles walked into the portal, knowing the others would soon follow.

The weight of the world...

[info]future_slayer
[info]btvsal

Who: Ami, open to her strike team (Gunn, Knox, Spike, and Anna Marchese)
Where: Gwen and Skylar's garage.
When: Thursday evening

This was it. Ami could feel it in her bones. This one moment was what she was here for, more than anything. Her own life... hell, her own EXISTENCE, was falling apart as she knew it. But she could save lives. Hundreds of them, actually, if she could pull off this one assignment. Mr. Giles had assembled her a strike team based on who he felt would best suit her needs in the battle. And now... when they got here, she would explain it all to them.

Wearing simple cut-off sweat pants, a white ribbed wifebeater, and with her long, curly blonde locks tied into a ponytail (mostly to hide the changes...), she waited for them to arrive.

Everyone needs a drink SOMETIME...

[info]future_slayer
[info]btvsal
Who: Ami, open to all
Where: Avarice
When: Saturday night

It was a scene that would probably convince anyone who'd ever met Amidala Morrison-McConnell of the imminent apocalypse.

The lithe, quiet blonde, possibly the most well-behaved, least-rebellious teen in recent history, was sitting at the bar in Avarice, sipping from a bottle of beer. Near her were four more bottles, all empty. Thank God for the fake ID that Meredith had hooked her up with. Granted, the bartender (CJ, of course) was hesitant to give her the alcohol (she knew damned well the girl wasn't 21), but Ami very politely explained to her that if she was old enough to risk her life fighting vampires every night, she was old enough to get her drink on. Oh. And she also sweetly mentioned possibly breaking both of the bartender's legs if no alcohol was presented ASAP.

Thus, the normally shy, immaculately-behaved girl was tipsy now, looking down at the bar as she pondered asking for another bottle. You know, since the bartender was now nervous enough to gladly provide it anyway.

Ami had never done anything like this. Never shown a rebellious streak, never 'gotten buck wild' as her friends put it, like so many of her teen contemporaries, but now? She was watching as the last remains of her time ceased to exist. Everything she knew was going away, and it was becoming clearer and clearer that the time she came from no longer existed.

Really... the blonde was hoping to lose herself in the alcohol... and never, ever find herself.

Who: Anna OT Anyone
Where: Outside of Chloe's Sugar Shack
When: After the slayer meeting

Sitting outside after the meeting, about to have a smoke, Anna knew she needed to help- but something held her back. She wasn't sure what it was- it had to do with her time away and the things she'd seen during it. These girls could certainly handle it, and Anna could go to her apartment and pretend that she's always been a young woman living in LA, but that's not who she was.

She was a slayer. Her duty was to do what all of the others were doing. It was then Anna realized she didn't know her place anymore, and that's why she stayed away from the other slayers and the watchers. Maybe this would change all of that.

She sighed, and tossed aside an unsmoked cigarette. None of those vices tasted or felt right anymore.

United Front?

[info]russian_slayer
[info]btvsal
Who: Catherine OT Slayer Types
Where: Chloe's Sugar Shack
When: Friday Afternoon

Since she had been made the leader of the battle, Catherine had done a lot of thinking. Was she really ready for something like this? Sure, she had been told both by her own Watcher and Mr. Giles that she was more than prepared to take on this role, but Catherine couldn't help but doubt just a bit if she was really up for this. Then again, she was sure that other battle leaders had felt the same as well. What she wanted to do now was to start showing a united front to all of the evil things out there that wanted to hurt them. If they looked like they were ready, it would help a hell of a lot toward getting ready.

Catherine knew that it had went through the grapevine about her being made leader. She wasn't sure what any of the other girls thought of that yet, though. Did some of them think that she would be a bad leader, or did any one of them think that they would make a better one? These were thoughts that she wanted to talk about with the other girls. Plus, they needed to start training together at least once a week soon. They needed to be able to be in sync with one another if they were really going to do this.

Fashion police, reporting for duty

[info]pencilsmightier
[info]btvsal
WHO: Nica and Ami, OT anybody
WHEN: Monday night
WHERE: Avarice

Nica had made Avarice a regular habit, by now. There was a table, just about midway between the bar and the stage, that she thought of as "hers," and she tended to get annoyed if it was occupied when she arrived. When that happened, she'd usually just have a seat, anyway, and talk to the occupants until they left for privacy or bought her drinks. Either way, she won.

Tonight, her table was unoccupied, and she smiled as she boosted herself into a seat and set down her martini glass and her sketchbook.

She nodded in time to the music, looking around the room, adding a face to her book here, another there. She kept an eye out for anyone overtly supernatural, or just plain badly dressed.

Of Slaying And Crappy Eateries

[info]future_slayer
[info]btvsal
Who: Ami, open to all
Where: Roy's Diner
When: Late Friday night

Uggghhh. Usually, Ami Morrison-McConnell loved being a slayer. Even though the whole time-travel thing had really given her life the royal screwing, she still kept a sunny disposition usually. But tonight had been rough. Three vamps, one of which was far tougher than she'd expected it to be, and now it was too late to get anything to eat at a decent place. Instead, she basically had her choice of shitty, 24-hour grease palaces. She chose Roy's, as it was close to Avarice, and she figured if it was still open after she ate, maybe she'd at least try to go dancing a bit.

The whispy blonde sat quietly at the counter, waiting for her eggs and toast to be done, staring wistfully into her hot tea (coffee was NOT her style). Sometimes, destiny SUCKED.

Who: Anyone who would be at Avarice for Reagan High's prom

"...My club looks like something out of a bad 80's romantic comedy."

Ben said with a sad sigh as he looked around his formerly hip club. Thank god it would only suffer this indignity for one night. He was in a sharp black Armani tuxedo, his hair slicked back, his fingers adorned with several gold rings as he watched the students start to come into the club.

"Meredith? You coming out? I did all this for you... I'd at least like to see you in your dress."

Too Much Thinking

[info]flymonkeysfly
[info]btvsal
Who: Andrew and Open
Where: Hammond Bookstore (he works there)
When: Thursday Afternoon

Stocking bookshelves wasn't that hard of work. Andrew actually kind of enjoyed it. It gave him something to do that required little thought. He had a lot to think about these days. It seemed that he was going to be a time traveler in the future. He wasn't sure how that was going to work, but Ami seemed so sure, and why would she lie about something like that to him. Of course, she also said that they were going to be together, which amazed and surprised him beyond belief. How could he attract a girl so pretty like that? How much had he changed to do so?

Luckily, he had a few other things to occupy his time right now. He was going to UCLA in the fall. He had managed to do all of his extra coursework to graduate a year early. He couldn't wait to kiss high school goodbye. Maybe college would be different, where it was celebrated to be intelligent and not to be a neanderthal, although that was kind of an insult to the neanderthal. They were actually pretty smart, at least for caveman times. Too bad they got knocked out by the Cro-Magnon man.

Time to make the wrong things right...

[info]future_slayer
[info]btvsal
Who: Ami and The Powers That Be
Where: Her room, Wesley's House
When: Saturday afternoon

(Note to all players: After this scene, any characters in-game that knew Gwen Morrison will suddenly regain their memories of her. Any other characters that ceased to be during the timeflip will still be gone, but faint memories of them will now be in the minds of those who knew them.)

Ami had been in mental agony for the past week. Moving in with Wesley, and getting to know Andrew... she'd seen firsthand what the timeflip had done to those she loved. Wesley, without Gwen in his life, was a wreck. Drinking, loafing around, sulking... and Andrew, without Cassie in HIS life, lacked any self-confidence, and was a self-doubting mess. Unfortunately, she knew that the things that had been done during the timeflip could never be undone. The people that had ceased to be couldn't be brought back... because as of now, they literally never existed. Except in faint, barely there memories.

But then it hit her. There was one way she COULD try to help. One person that faded away... but technically still existed. Gwen hadn't ceased to be... during the 'happening', 'The Crisis' as she referred to it, time had been falling apart, and was causing the world to literally unravel. Gwen, knowing what was going on because (ironically) of her love of comic books, had the courage to quickly call out to the Powers That Be, and volunteer to leave the world, to become a Higher Being, to literally spend eternity holding the timestream together. Her only condition was that when it happened... everyone awoke the next morning with no memory of any of it, and no memory of her. She didn't want anyone to hurt over her. Only Ami remembered... because she was so intimitely tied to the timestream herself.

Turning her gaze upward, she spoke softly, her voice cracking a bit.

"Look... whoever is up there... I messed up. I know it. But you can't keep Gwen away from everyone. Too many people here need her. Look at Wesley. He's a WATCHER, and he's falling apart without her. And Andrew. You know what he's capable of in the future... you think he's gonna ever do it if he doesn't have her around to give him the kick in the butt he needs? You know damned well someone else can guard time... you don't NEED her... but WE DO. Please... please give her back to us..."

And as she finished, she fell to her knees, crying, desperate.

That's when she noticed: on her wrist was suddenly the bracelet Gwen had given her for her 14th birthday. It had vanished, along with all other physical traces of Gwen, when the girl vanished. But now it was back. Did that mean that the others would now have memory of her back? Obviously... the PTB had decided not to send her back... but if they at least gave back people's memory of her, maybe that would be enough to help Wes and Andrew. Maybe. She'd have to go see Skylar... if her Gwen memories were back, that meant she would also once more know who Ami was.

With a deep, semi-scared sigh, she stood, grabbed her purse, and walked downstairs, to leave.

Lonely at Lunchtime...

[info]future_slayer
[info]btvsal
Who: Ami, open to all High School Students
Where: Reagan High cafeteria
When: Monday, noontime

The last week had been bittersweet for Ami. The bad part: revealing her true history to Wesley and Andrew had been heartwrenching, and made her think about a lot of memories she had been trying to suppress. The good part, however: doing so had not only given her a real place to stay (with Wesley), but it had given her a friend (Andrew) and the realization that in the future she'd come from, somehow, Andrew had been the boy she'd fallen in love with. She still had to figure out how he was in her time, only a few years older than he seems now...

But, the best part of all - she'd begun to brainstorm, and thought of some ways that, while she could never entirely turn back the clock and change the badness that had happened, she could at least possibly fix a few things: possibly restore some memories to people, etc.

It all hinged on whether or not she could figure out what the real catalyst was for all the changes. She knew, somehow, that it wasn't just her actions. She somehow felt it.

So, for now, Ami Morrison sat in the high school cafeteria, looking over her homework, and trying not to feel too lonely. She was succeeding with the homework, but failing at the lonely thing big time. She honestly was just hoping to make soem friends. ANY friends.
