Hello, and welcome to Born into Magic RP! This is a Harry Potter crossover AU, and don't be too shy about applying, we're pretty friendly in spite of the extensive application process. ♥
Applications are now OPEN.
Contact information. Your name, age (which will NEED to be stated on your journal profile if you have one, and your birth-date needs to be included if you don't), AIM/MSN/Yahoo screen name, and your e-mail.
Character Name: And please remember that there are no original characters allowed.
Blood Status: Is your character a pureblood, a half-blood, or a muggle-born? If you're having trouble, you might want to look at your character's canon. For example, Jack Sparrow might make a good half-blood because of his canon history.
Occupation: (If a student, list what school and House, if applicable) It's not just about the students. If you want to apply for a teacher or something, go for it! Also, please note that not everyone will be able to attend Hogwarts, which is the only school with Houses. Right now, the schools we are allowing are Hogwarts, Beaxbatons, Durmstrang, and the Salem Witchcraft Institute (as we don't know whether J.K Rowling will ever expand on any other schools, we would prefer to stick to what we know).
Any connection to chars already in play: If none, just put "N/A". If your character does have a connection to someone else's, we ask that you contact the player so you two can work something out before you apply.
A basic history of your character, as woven into the HP universe. What was your character's childhood like? Is s/he a pureblood, a half-blood, or a Muggleborn?
Personality information and character traits. What is your character like? Is s/he a social butterfly? A loner? What are his or her hot-button issues (i.e. family, bullying)? What are her or his hobbies? Things like that.
A first person journal entry and a third person writing sample for your character. The first person will be used as a normal journal interaction. A possible bad example of this is, "i'm so bored... oh well....... i guess i'll go home... *sigh*" A possible good example is, "Since there's nothing to do here, I may as well go home. Oh, well, maybe things won't be so boring tomorrow." The third person interaction is basically how the characters will interact in logs and action threads, a basic example being "Steve walked into the diner, his eyes searching for Jane's usual table." These don't have to be terribly long, just enough for us to get a feel of your writing style.
Avada... The answer's not as obvious as you think, and will be easy if you have read the rules section.
Also, in keeping things as IC as possible, we ask that you please make this as believable as you can. If your character is a shy homebody in his or her canon, that's not likely to change here. For example, Squall Leonhart from Final Fantasy VII is not suddenly going to run around giving hugs to everybody for no good reason. We will be doing our research on the characters of canons we don't know.
If you get stuck or confused, feel free to ask the mods for help and don't forget to check out the profiles and journals of the characters who have already been accepted. We'll do our best to answer your questions. ♥
All comments are screened, and characters apps will be unscreened when they are accepted. Either submit the apps here as comments or e-mail them to born.mods at gmail dot com.
ETA on January 29th, 2008; Please do not create character journals before being accepted. Thank you.
