Life of Pi by Yann Martel, Reading Schedule [15 Sep 2008|04:50am]

capa
Woo, starting again! Today we start Life of Pi by Yann Martel, and just like last time I've constructed a daily reading schedule. Obviously you don't have to follow this, but hopefully we'll all be at the same place on discussion post days. I also have an illustrated version of the book, so I don't know if I made these chunks too overwhelming. In mine it's about 20 pages a day, but if it's more than that or too much, just let me know and we'll reschedule it.

Anyway, here we go! )

Final discussion post on The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon. If you haven't finished the book you might not want to read in here. Spoilers will most likely end up here as well as in the comments! )

Don't forget that we're starting Life of Pi by Yann Martel on Monday.

HI, GUYS. Sorry for failing. [10 Sep 2008|04:21am]

capa
We're going to start reading the Life of Pi by Yann Martel (check your local library or head to a bookshop if you prefer in order to get your copy) starting on Monday, September 15th. That'll give us a little break between books to regroup or something.

Also, tomorrow (today?--Wednesday, September 10th) is the day we're scheduled to finish The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon, so I'll put up a discussion post on Thursday.

I hope you guys are enjoying it so far, and don't hesitate to comment anywhere if you have book suggestions or just general suggestions for keeping the community running smoothly. I want this to be as interactive as possible! I know that in most bookclubs the members don't necessarily have a choice in books, but if you guys have ideas I'll absolutely keep them in mind.

I'm thinking of using The Life of Pi by Yann Martel as the next book. Any opposition?

Our first book! The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon. [25 Aug 2008|11:57pm]

capa

After seeing all the votes, the results say that our first book is going to be The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon. In order to be sure everybody can get a copy, we're going to start reading this next Monday, September 1st (try looking at your local library, or you can buy it here or here). I put a welcome note and stuff in the userinfo of the community and I'll keep that updated with the current book we're reading. Since the chapters aren't very long at all for this book [and since they're numbered strangely], I've made a schedule (see below), but I'm trying to be sure we don't read too many pages per day so everybody can keep up. Please take a look and see if this is good or if we should cut back a little. This book does, by the way, have kind of large font as well as illustrations, so it's not as much as it looks like.

Now, here's another question. Do you guys want to have a chapter-by-chapter (day-by-day) discussion on what we've read, or would you rather have something like a post once a week? Obviously everybody can post as often as they'd like, but we can set up an official post as often as you want.

Reading schedule, woo! )

NEW PLAN! [25 Aug 2018|12:36am]

Since I'm impatient with waiting for suggestions, here's a few books from Amazon.com's Most Requested Books list.

Tell me which one you want to start with, okay? )
