Why is it lately that books that I want and look forward to buying turn out to be sheer disappointments when I read them?
First with The Romancipation of Maggie Hunter by Jane Sigaloff (Red Dress Ink), which I have put back on the shelf, till I can get back in the mindset to read again. And now with Heaven's Fury by 50 Cent and Meta Smith (G-Unit books).
Dear god, this book is sheer tripe!! My eleven year old neice can write better than this, I shit you not.
I'm only going to finish it for three reasons: 1.) It's less than 200 pages. 2.) I wanted it bad enough. 3.) I can say that I finished a book the second day of 2008, making it my fist out of 50 books for this year.

I'm doing it again. Buying more books than I can read. I blame half.com for that. No, really I do. Within the past week or so, I have bought Pants On Fire by Maggie Alderson, Handbags And Gladrags by Maggie Alderson, The Manolo Matrix by Julie Kenner, Wicked by Gregory Maguire *I got that because the theatrical production is coming to Ohio in Feb*, Roasting in Hell's Kitchen by Gordon Ramsay, and Notes from the Backseat by Jodie Gherman (Red Dress Ink). Six books. Six fucking books in two weeks. Not to mention I have a slew of unread books waiting for me when I get back to dad's that I either 1.) brought with me when I moved from Charleson or 2.) Bought either online at Amazon.com or at the mall in Toledo. I also have my Christmas gift from Dev, aka the_archangel on lj, Dirty Little Lies by Julie Leto, waiting for me to read as well. I got that right before I came to Deb's.
Oh and I still have three to four boxes of books *both read and unread* at mom's house. I really wish I could have brought all of them up with me to Ohio. But with all the books I'm already aquiring here, I'm beginning to encounter the same problem I had down in SC. NO MORE ROOM. It's not to the point where they are in my way like they were in SC. It's a contained mess for now.
Also, why is Amazon.com listing books I ALREADY OWN for my recomendations?? They know I own them because I have had the books they are recomending to me marked as OWNED for a while now. And alot of the books they are recommending, I even wrote reviews for on Amazon.com....bwuh?????
Also, for those who read chick lit, has anyone ever read The Romancipation of Maggie Hunter by Jane Sigaloff. I got it specially ordered from Border's either late October or early November. And I just can't seem to get through it. I got to about the middle of chapter three, and then hit a wall. I would then pic up other books, read them, finish them, then TRY to go back to this one with no such luck. Last week while Debbie was getting her hair done, I did manage to get to the middle of chapter seven. But it's like a dead end again. I can't figure out why I can't get through this damn book. And I want badly to finish it, because I special ordered the damn thing.
