April started off with epic Rookwood pwnage and some good old fashioned hatred. Andromeda and Regulus have a little run in and Regulus shoots down Andie's hopes of establishing a relationship with the family that hates her. Dora then lays the smack down. Luckily for Reggie and the other purists, the purist ball comes up so they can sit around and feel superior to everyone else. During the ball, Bellatrix is forced to deal with her mother, Georgina chats up Marius, Alecto is forced to pretend she knows how to act like a lady, and Rodolphus decides this would be a good time to tell Evan his mother has been killed because he's a screwup. Good times for all. After this little cultural break, the violence continues as Ted becomes the victim of a hate crime, Fenrir and Alecto indulge in some violent catharsis, and the death eaters go on a spree in Diagon, attacking shops, mudbloods, and killing Mary MacDonald's memory.
While all this happy fun time is going on, the DoM insults the DMLE in one of Dung's usual inane posts, for which the DMLE get their revenge (good job, Pepper!), and Dung is arrested (shocker). Fortunately, Dung has Pepper to keep him company (engaging in perfectly legal activities at all times).
The Death Eaters continue to shine this month with loads of ridiculous drama. First, Alecto and Regulus get in a spat over orders, hierarchy, and the usual drivel, resulting in Rookwood sending Regulus a howler, Bellatrix threatening Rookwood, and Regulus's usual whining (aw, we love him). Reggie is further antagonized by James and Marlene, who don't think he should live down his part in the commune attacks (see March). They set up an elaborate (and kind of sick) hoax to freak him the fuck out. And it works. Meanwhile, in the soon-to-be-Parkinson household, there is some bitchery - aka a (very pure) domestic spat. Sad :[
After some jiggerypokery in the Department of Mysteries, Rookwood discovers that Agnes is actually alive and proceeds to tell everyone about it, culminating in a seriously epic attack on Marlene and Dorcas's flat. Everyone escapes, even the dog, and so the Order, not content with just having escaped with their lives, proceeds to mock the death eaters mercilessly about it. Nice move, guys. Edgar tries to point this out that being immature doesn't help anything during the Order meeting, but Agnes and Marlene decide to be immature outside during the bulk of the meeting. The Ravenclaw Brain Trust (Emmeline, Benjy, Prewetts) reveal they have been working on a more reliable communication method (given that the last one didn't go so well). Later they will test the new Order dogtags with hilarious results. Edgar is not pleased.
Speaking of the Order, lots of fun things going on:
Aberforth locates a portkey, which he eventually cannot resist trying out. He, James, and Sirius discover that the portkey leads into the basement of Arcturus Black's manor house - the same house the DEs have been organizing training sessions for young recruits. They decide to raid the manor. The following week, said raid takes place - and the Ministry is also tipped off, leading to a fullscale raid on the manor. Lucius Malfoy, Georgina Wilkes, and Rodolphus Lestrange are spotted by the Order, but escape in time to avoid identification by the ministry.
As the month winds down, drama hit its peak; Arcturus Black's trial makes Selwyn, the junior counsel, nervous - and for good reason, because Arcturus Black doesn't have a chance of being acquitted. As newspapers everywhere report on his conviction, purebloods everywhere are tearing Selwyn a new asshole. When Roman makes an attempt to defend himself, he digs himself into a deeper and deeper hole. Alecto seems to be the only person with any sympathy, but sympathy from Alecto is like a punch to the face. No, literally.
Things get even more exciting that same night as Agnes, Sirius, James, and Marlene broadcast resistance radio, accusing everyone and their mother (okay not their mothers) of being death eaters. The purists are outraged - and luckily tonight is the Diagon Attack, so they happily vent their frustrations upon the entire alley in a seriously epic six part battle.
Peripheral characters - I think we're doing a pretty decent job of keeping peripherals involved, though we do have a few people who need help this month getting involved (Narcissa, if anyone has any ideas)
• Feedback;
as always, we welcome your feedback on how things are going. Specifically, how did everyone feel about the way the Diagon thread was carried out? Was the dice a good way to regulate damage? Was it epic enough? Too epic?
