Wizarding Wireless Network News - Nott Press Conference

NOTT: Thank you all. Good afternoon. I have come before you all to answer the question that has been on everyone lips for the past twenty-four hours. Yes, there has been a threat to my life, one which the Department of Magical Law Enforcement has been taking very seriously. Kier MacDonald, a hitwizard who has been with the department for a number of years, has been apprehended for involvement in the plot and is currently awaiting trial. He was not working alone, and the DMLE is still searching for others involved in this plot, two of whom have known ties to the foreign terrorists and have spent much time out of the country forming ties with a vast number of terrorists who threaten our country and our people. I assure you that the Department of Magical Law Enforcement is doing everything their power to find and apprehend these criminals. This is not only a threat against me, it is a threat against our country and our people. We are under attack and the enemy's doing everything within its power to destroy the government and to drive us out of the world we live in. These terrorists fight not merely to end lives, but to disrupt and end a way of life. With every atrocity, they hope that the we grow fearful, retreating from the world and forsaking our friends. They stand against us, because we stand in their way. How do I know this? Because that's what the enemy has told us would happen. By attempting to take over our government, by destroying our libraries, our history and our culture, that is what they have said. We are not deceived by their pretences to piety. We have seen their kind before. They are the heirs of all the murderous ideologies of the past. By sacrificing human life to serve their radical visions -- by abandoning every value except the will to power and declaring war against magic itself -- they follow in the path of fascism, Grindewaldism, and totalitarianism. And they will follow that path all the way, to where it ends: in history's unmarked grave of discarded lies. Wizards are asking: How will we fight and win this war? We will direct every resource at our command -- every means of diplomacy, every tool of intelligence, every instrument of law enforcement, every financial influence, and every necessary spell of war -- to the disruption and to the defeat of these terrorists. And as your Minister for Magic, as a person working to secure this country, I take the words of the enemy very seriously, and so should the people of Wizarding Britain and Ireland. I fully understand the we are seeing unspeakable violence in our world. These are tough times. Attacks and casualties may get worse before they get better, but I will not give up. We will not give up. We will have to make tough decisions, decisions you may not like in the short term but you will come to understand in the long term. I ask that you trust in me - I fight for you and for magic. And as we, the Ministry, make tough decisions, we ask you to stand with us. Help us. It is in your best interest that we succeed. We're on the move; we're taking action; we need your help. What is expected of us? I ask you to live your lives, and hug your children. I know many wizardss have fears tonight, and I ask you to be calm and resolute, even in the face of a continuing threat. I ask you to uphold the values of the Wizarding World, and remember why we are so fortunate to have Magic. We are in a fight for our principles, and our first responsibility is to live by them. The stakes are high. As a matter of fact, they couldn't be higher. I will now take questions.
