Summary: Bax Barlington comes to Flourish and Blotts to promote his newest magical crime fiction novel.
Penelope carried one last stack of the novel Bloodbath by Bax Barlington to the signing table. She put her hand on her hip and smiled at Seamus. "I think we have enough copies now, don't you? That late night print run really made a difference. Obscurus is on top of production, and I like that."
She flipped open her planner and drew a line through the tasks they had completed (on time, no less), and she nodded to herself. She and Seamus had been at Flourish and Blotts since 10 a.m. Thankfully the staff working this morning and afternoon had been extremely helpful, and she and Seamus hadn't run into a single snag, which was good for her planner. Penelope liked to be on time at all times.
She straightened the glass vase of quills and double checked that the ink the bottles was blue (even though she'd already checked twice). Mr. Barlington preferred signing with blue ink. She slid the scarlet bowl full of Bloodbites (courtesy of Weasleys' Wizarding Wheezes) a few centimetres to the left. Penelope was rather pleased with the wheeze although she hadn't tested one. A Flourish and Blotts' worker had popped the chocolate kiss into her mouth and then shown them the blood red colour her entire mouth had turned. It would have been quite alarming if they hadn't known it wasn't really blood. Mr. Barlington would love it!
She glanced at the queue, which had already been forming when she and Seamus had arrived this morning. As the time approached 2 p.m., the fans' voices had steadily risen until the manager of Flourish and Blotts had cast a Softening Charm. Though it wasn't exactly quiet in the shop, the volume was at a pleasant level.
"Have we forgotten anything?" she asked Seamus.
