Meant For Each Other
I do not own Bleach or any of the Bleach characters. That privilege belongs to Tite Kubo.
(Hiromi is 11, Byakuya is 14. During their sexual encounters, both characters are considered to be of age. This is set 100 years before the main Bleach storyline).
Chapter 1: Change
“Ginsei Kuchiki,” head captain Yamamoto began, “I would like you to take Shihoin Hiromi into your home. You know that I would not ask this of you if it were not of the utmost importance. The Shihoin clan is one of our great noble families, and I will not have one of our young noble girls fall by the wayside.”
“Of course sir, I will collect her from the Shihoin estate right away.”
“Considering the recent incident within the Shihoin family, you should handle the girl with delicacy. She is sure to be distraught over the actions taken by Shihoin Yoruichi.”
“Certainly Taichou,” Captain Kuchiki rose from his position in front of Genreiyusei, and left the division one barracks.
**********************************************************************
Shihoin Hiromi lifted her head from the kitchen table. She heard muffled speech coming from the foyer, and feet shuffling in her direction. Who could be at my house at this time of night? She really didn’t want to deal with anymore interrogations about her older sisters’ defection from Soul Society. The moment nii-san left, Hiromi had been bombarded with questions and examinations from central 46, the head captain, and even other lower seated Gotei 13 members. She was absolutely exhausted, and could not handle another upsetting recount of the events leading up to her sisters’ supposed betrayal.
Eleven year old Hiromi had been living at the Shihoin estate in the care of her nurse since her parents’ death years before. Yoruichi, the head of the Shihoin clan, mostly stayed occupied with her captaincy and direction of the punishment force. Hiromi loved her sister very much and felt very close to her, regardless of the fact that she was always very busy. She believed that her sister and Urahara-san were only doing what they thought was right; she didn’t really know the truth of the situation regarding the Vizards, Urahara Kisuke did like to experiment, but Hiromi could not bring herself to believe that her sister would defend an unjust, corrupt man as Central 46 had labeled him.
Hiromi was lost in thought as the captain of the 6th division of the 13 Court Guard Squads glided into her kitchen. She snapped to attention as he began to speak.
“Shihoin Hiromi,” he said in a very stoic voice, “under the direction of head captain Yamamoto, you are to accompany me to Kuchiki Manor to live within the care and supervision of our distinguished house. Because of the recent events that have taken place, it is felt that you should not be left to fend for yourself in Seireitei. You would be better served living with another of the great noble families to direct your decisions, and help you to complete your formal training as the head of a noble clan. You will pack your belongings, and depart within the hour.”
Hiromi felt as if a bucket of freezing cold water had been dumped over her head. MOVE! The Shihoin lands and house had always been her home!
“Kuchiki-sama,” Hiromi began tentatively, “what will happen to my home if I’m not…”
“Shihoin Manor will be shut down until such time as you are old enough, and able to run it effectively,” he stated with a finality that made Hiromi shiver.
A few minutes later in her bedroom, Hiromi started her packing. She would not need much she decided, some clothes, her hairbrush, some other personal effects. The Kuchikis are bound to have basic bedding and supplies, best to keep it simple. Besides, Kuchiki-sama wanted me ready within the hour; there is no way I’d be able to pack everything I own in that amount of time. As Hiromi left her bedroom for the last time, tears began to well in her eyes. She thought of all of the memories she held of this place, her parents, her beautiful sister, her life was all here. I must be strong, I must be fierce! It’s not as if I’ll never come here again. And even though Yoruichi is gone now, it’s not like she died…I’m sure I’ll see her again in my lifetime.
With courage that she wasn’t sure would last, she reentered the kitchen, and faced Captain Kuchiki.
“I’m ready to go Taichou,” she said calmly. This is for the best.
Chapter 2: Kuchiki Manor
Hiromi watched the young boy repeatedly swing his practice katana in a wide arc. His long black hair swung out behind him, and his heavy, black robes billowed and settled around his small form with each move. It looked as though he was attempting to hone his long range attack, but it just made him look silly. She had heard of Kuchiki Byakuya, but she had never actually met him. It was customary within noble families that their children were not socialized into Seireitei until they were either old enough to enter the Soul Reaper Academy, if that was the path they chose, or until they completed their formal training as a noble, so as not to embarrass the family name.
“Heehee,” she snickered as Byakuya made a particularly wide swing with his sword.
He immediately swung around to confront the intruder, but she only laughed harder at the surprised expression on his face. Byakuya was not amused.
“Who are you?” he asked angrily, a scowl furrowing his brow.
“Your Sensei didn’t tell you I was coming?” she pouted prettily.
“No, why would he waste his time on someone like you?”
“It’s funny you mention that, because your Sensei actually came to my house personally to tell me that I would be living at Kuchiki Manor.”
Byakuya’s eyes widened considerably, “Don’t flatter yourself girl, I’m sure that you imagined that it was Kuchiki-sama, but there is no way that he would do that for some random female!”
“Hahaha, Bya-kun, just who do you think I am?” she challenged.
“How dare you use that sort of familiarity with me! I am the Kuchiki heir, and I expect you to treat me with respect.”
“You didn’t answer my question.”
“I don’t have to answer you anything.”
“Don’t you wanna know who I am?”
“No. I don’t really care. You don’t concern me.”
“You did a minute ago.” He glared, “Suit yourself Bya-kun. See ya later!” With that, Hiromi flounced out of the training grounds and off to find her new bedroom…
A few hours later Byakuya was called to the dining room for dinner. He was stunned to find the girl from earlier in the training grounds standing to the left of his grandfather.
“Byakuya, this is Shihoin Hiromi,” the elder Kuchiki said, “She will be living with us from now on. You will treat her with the highest respect, and help her in any way that she may need. Because she is new to us, and is dealing with personal familial matters, I expect you to be very sensitive to her.”
Byakuya’s face turned a flattering shade of pink, “Yes, Sensei, whatever you desire,” he cast his eyes down.
Hiromi looked smug. When she caught Byakuya’s eye, he glowered at her in frustration. Dinner commenced with strained but well-mannered conversation. Afterward, Hiromi retired gratefully to her newly appointed chambers…
Hiromi’s room was decorated for a queen. The low four poster bed was much larger than a standard king sized bed, and was adorned with a sheer, ruby colored canopy held back at each side with heavy gold ties, and scarlet, silk sheets. She had a big, well-built, oak vanity with an ornate mirror gracing the back. Also, a generously proportioned dresser, a walk-in closet, and a personal bathroom, complete with a sunken in tub, and a separate shower area. In the middle of her floor was a beautiful Turkish rug, and at the end of her bed was a cushion topped trunk for storage. There were several lamps that gave off a soft, warm glow, and made the room feel like home. Amidst the splendor was the most notable attribute in the room, an enormous fireplace that took up almost an entire wall. It blazed brightly as she walked in, and sat down at her vanity table.
Hiromi sighed to herself, and contemplated her hectic, strenuous day. She also thought about Byakuya. He’s such a baby! I knew that some nobles were spoiled, but he is the biggest brat I have ever encountered! And he’s arrogant too! Ugh, I’m going to have to get used to him though; he’s not going anywhere, and neither am I.
**********************************************************************
The next morning Hiromi decided to wander the house. She passed huge, cathedral-domed rooms, vast gardens, the great hall, the dining room, and many closed doors, but she finally stopped at the kitchen. As Hiromi moved into the room, she noticed that Byakuya was sitting at the kitchen table eating a rice ball and dumplings.
“Good morning Bya-kun,” she said very politely.
“I thought I told you not to call me that!” he shouted.
“And I thought your Sensei told you to treat me respectfully.”
Byakuya looked sullen, “He didn’t say I had to like you though.”
“No I suppose not, but it wouldn’t kill you to be a little nice to me. I mean my sister did just get kicked out of Soul Society.”
“Yeah, I guess not,” He still didn’t look completely pleased with the situation.
“You knew my sister a little bit didn’t you?”
“Yoruichi-san. Yeah I knew her; she taught me some cool flashstep moves.”
Hiromi smiled brightly. “I can’t even imagine the two of you hanging out! I mean no offense, but she never mentioned you at all.”
Byakuya frowned, “That doesn’t matter to me. It’s not like we were best friends or anything.”
“Hey, do you want to go practice together?” Hiromi asked.
“I doubt a girl would be much of a challenge…”
Hiromi narrowed her eyes at him.
“Oh, yeah, right. I guess so.”
**********************************************************************
After about two years…
Byakuya and Hiromi have become pretty good, albeit tentative friends. Byakuya is about to enter the Soul Reaper Academy, and they are having one last practice session before he goes.
“Is that all you got?!” Hiromi taunted.
“Oh please! Bring it on!” Byakuya responded hotly.
Hiromi flashstepped forward, Byakuya countered her attack, and was behind her before she could even blink her eyes.
“Gaa, Byakuya! How do you do that so fast?!” Hiromi was shocked that he already had such speed. He hadn’t even left for school yet!
Byakuya grinned widely, “Just a couple of tricks learned from an old friend.”
Hiromi smiled at the mention of Yoruichi, “Yeah, I bet.”
While she was distracted, thinking of her sister, Byakuya ran toward her, sword at the ready. Hiromi didn’t have time to block him, and she went flying to the floor. Byakuya’s body quickly followed hers, pinning her to the floor, his hands pinning hers behind her head.
“Ha, I got you!” he exclaimed, his eyes shining brightly.
As Hiromi attempted to regain her breath, they both became painfully aware of the close proximity of their lower bodies. Byakuya’s hips were pressed tightly against Hiromi’s, and she felt something poking into her thigh. Byakuya gasped and hastily pulled away from her. Just as she was beginning to feel an unfamiliar tingling sensation in her belly, Byakuya was gone.
“Uh…yeah, sorry about that,” he stammered, a little more shaken up than he wanted to admit.
“What just happened?” Hiromi questioned.
“I don’t know, just…don’t worry about it,” he responded, still embarrassed.
“Uh, okay. W-well I guess I’ll just see you when you’re getting ready to leave then,” she stammered and averted her eyes from him, embarrassed as well at what she had felt pushing against her.
Chapter 3: World of the Living
After Byakuya left for the Soul Reaper Academy, Hiromi began to focus more on her formal training within the nobility. However, she still made plenty of time for Soul Reaper training. At times, even though she did not yet have her zanpakuto, she could hear a feminine voice speaking to her, guiding her as she trained.
“Kuchiki-sama,” Hiromi began, “I was wondering…”
“What is it child?” He responded.
Child! I’m hardly a child, I’m fourteen years old!!
“I would like to venture into the world of the living for awhile. I am lonely without Byakuya, and I miss my sister terribly.”
Ginsei sighed audibly, “Travelling to the world of the living can be very dangerous, Hiromi.”
“I know that Sensei, but I am willing to risk it, if you will let me.”
“Hmm, I see. I will allow you to go on the condition that I accompany you there, and help you to locate your sister and Urahara.”
“You would do that Kuchiki-sama?! Oh, thank-you so much!! I will get ready right away!”
“Hold on Hiromi. I must contact captain Kurotsuchi to find your sister. Also I must inform head captain Yamamoto of our plans.”
Hiromi inwardly sighed. She was ready to leave now! The Kuchiki residence without Byakuya was impossibly dull.
“Of course Kuchiki-sama.”
**********************************************************************
“Nii-san!!!!!! I’ve missed you so much!!!” Hiromi exclaimed.
Yoruichi smiled widely and embraced her sister fiercely, “I’ve missed you too. Come inside the shop and get settled in,” She turned her gaze to the elder Kuchiki, “Thank-you for bringing her here Captain. It means a great deal that you did.”
He looked at her and nodded, saying nothing.
Typical Kuchiki. Yoruichi followed Hiromi into the house.
“…well you see, the zanpakuto is a veery tricky thing,” Yoruichi heard Kisuke from the kitchen.
“What’s going on in here,” She said.
Hiromi beamed, “I was just asking Urahara-san about a strange woman’s voice that I hear whenever I practice. I think it may be my zanpakuto”
“Oh really? That’s very interesting. What does she say when she comes to you?”
“Mostly she is just guiding me and giving me direction with my training.”
“This is not unheard of,” Urahara said, tapping his fan against his chin, “Many soul reapers are so connected or in tune with their zanpakuto that they hear them, even at underdeveloped stages in their training.”
“Wow! That is so exciting!” Hiromi said.
Tessai came in with dinner for the four of them.
“Urahara-san?”
“Yes?”
“Do you think you could help me to bring out my zanpakuto?”
“Weell…” He paused, rolling his eyes over to Yoruichi. She nodded. “I suppose we could give it a try.”
**********************************************************************
Much later in the underground training area…
“I want you to come at me with everything you have,” Kisuke stated.
Hiromi flashstepped directly at Urahara, sweat dripping down her face. He evaded her practice sword, and slammed her into a nearby boulder. With the wind knocked out of her Hiromi collapsed to her knees. As she struggled to breathe, she pounded the ground in frustration.
“Why can’t I get this!?”
“Don’t be so discouraged Hiro-kun. This is very advanced work for a girl your age. Most soul reapers don’t have contact with their zanpakuto until their second year in school.”
“I know Urahara-san, but I want this so badly!”
Yoruichi cut in, “Resolve, Hiromi. You have to have resolve. Once you are absolutely determined, there is nothing that can stop you.”
Hiromi closed her eyes for several seconds and nodded, “I’m ready.”
As she said this, her eyes began to glow a bright fiery orange. She and Kisuke ran at each other both with swords extended. As their blades clashed, Hiromi blacked out and entered a world that she’d never seen before…
Hiromi could see nothing but blackness. She groped around on the ground, trying to find her sword. It was shattered all around her.
“Damn!” She cursed.
Suddenly on the horizon Hiromi could see a faint glowing light. Before she knew it, it was right in front of her, a fire dragon. Hiromi gasped in awe of its size and spiritual pressure; it was truly magnificent.
“Who are you?”
“My name is Keiji,” She said.
“You’re my zanpakuto, aren’t you?”
“I am just another aspect of you…yes, your sword. You have great spiritual energy, but I must test you to determine if you are strong enough at this young age to wield me.”
“What do I have to do?”
**********************************************************************
When the whirlwind of dust settled back to the ground, Hiromi stood at the center of the smoke with her zanpakuto in her hand. Her spiritual pressure was skyrocketing. She lifted her head and eyed Kisuke for a moment. In the blink of an eye she was upon him, fighting with a ferocity that had him on the defense. Once he was backed into a wall, they stopped fighting.
“You passed,” He stated with a grin.
“O-oh my gosh,” She stammered, “I did it!”
“Yep, you did. Very good Hiromi. I wasn’t sure at first if you would pull it off.”
Hiromi gazed down at her zanpakuto. The katana was very long and thin with a completely bright red hilt; the silver blade was razor sharp. She smiled in admiration.
“It’s beautiful…”
“Oh little sis, I’m so proud of you! Let’s get out of here and go shopping!” Yoruichi beamed.
Chapter 4: Soul Reaper Academy
One year later…
“That attire is not entirely appropriate for school, is it?” Byakuya asked coolly, staring at her from the door of her new dorm room.
“Oh Byakuya, you found me already!” She launched herself into his arms for a bear hug. He set her away from him carefully. She looked down at her skimpy black tank-top and tight jeans and grinned. “I don’t know what you mean Bya-kun.”
“Your clothes…they’re¬—a little revealing,” He finished, his eyes roving over her newly developed hips and breasts.
“Haha I know. I was playing with you. I am planning to change before the entrance seminar.”
“You should do it now. I can sense your roommate coming.”
“Byakuya, you can’t tell me what to do!”
Byakuya sighed aloud, “I don’t want you embarrassing me here at school. I know about your little stint in the world of the living with your sister.”
Hiromi was outraged, “Are you kidding me!! Embarrass you?! You are the one who’ll embarrass me with your haughty ways and your arrogance! And how dare you insult Yoruichi!”
“I don’t have time for this. I’ll see you tomorrow at lunch,” He turned around abruptly and was gone.
Hiromi hmphed and returned to unpacking her things. I don’t remember promising to meet him for lunch tomorrow. Is he just assuming I’ll want to sit with him? He is so controlling! As she was musing to herself, another girl came strolling into the room.
“Hi, I’m Isane!”
“Oh hi, my name is Shihoin Hiromi.”
“Was that Kuchiki Byakuya I just saw in here?!”
“Yeah.”
“Oh my gosh, really? He is so intimidating! You know they say he can already control his shikai, and that his spiritual pressure is astronomical! I can’t believe he was in our room…oh wait did you say Shihoin?? You’re Yoruichi’s younger sister aren’t you?!”
“Yeah I am. I’ve been living at Kuchiki manor since she was banished to the living world.”
“So you know him?”
“Bya-kun? Yeah, sure. He’s a real pain in the ass though; always dictating to me and such.”
“Yeah, but Kuchiki is legend!”
“Whatever you say Isane.”
At lunch the next day, Byakuya came up to Hiromi. She eyed him speculatively, pursing her lips, “What makes you think I want to sit with you?”
“Don’t be ridiculous, of course we’ll sit together,” He moved is hand to the small of her back and guided her toward a table. She glared at him, but relented, “Now, who do you have for teachers…”
**********************************************************************
It was the week of final exams before the semester break. Hiromi was tired of studying and decided to find Byakuya’s dorm room for the first time.
“Hey, Bya-kun!” She said.
“Hiromi, what are you doing in here!” He shouted.
“Don’t yell at me Byakuya!”
“Yeah dun yell at er Bya-kun!”
Hiromi spun around at the unfamiliar voice, and was confronted by a thin, pale boy with squinty eyes and a broad smile. His purple tinted silver hair hung in his face as he waved long, spindly fingers in her direction, “You mus be Hiro-chan…Bya-kun talks about you all tha time.”
“Oh is that right?” She glanced at Byakuya.
Byakuya flushed, “Be quiet Ichimaru.”
The roommate just smirked even wider, “I’m Ichimaru Gin, Byakuya’s roommate.”
“Shihoin Hiromi,” She responded.
Gin looked her up and down; she was wearing black and silver plaid pajama pants and a royal blue tank-top.
“Ichimaru, stop ogling her please.”
“S’not my fault she’s wearin that outfit…”
Byakuya growled in response, “Ok, ok I’ll go to the library to study.” Gin got up and headed toward the door, “Nice to meet cha Hiro-chan.”
“Why do you always do this Hiromi!?” Byakuya’s face was still very red as he looked at her curvaceous form, clad in her revealing pjs.
She sighed and her face turned pensive, “Why do you always have to disapprove of everything I do Byakuya? I am at the top of my class, way ahead in my training with Keiji. I am polite and respectful to all of my teachers, I sit with you every day at lunch, and you act like I am such a chore!”
He stared at her hard for several minutes, not moving or speaking. Finally Hiromi stepped close to him; the sexual tension in the room was tangible. She leaned her body into his, wrapped her arms around his neck, and pressed her lips to his. His eyes shot open and he gasped, then he closed his eyes and deepened the kiss. His soft lips slanted over hers, his tongue seeking entrance to her mouth. She sighed, granting him access. His tongue stroked the inside of her mouth, making her groan. His hand caressed down her slender back and back up to cup her chin. He pulled away slightly, gazing into her eyes. He kissed her again, this time with an intensity that stole her breath away.
“Byakuya,” She breathed. She moved his right hand to her breast and prompted him to squeeze it. He did so through the thin fabric of her tank-top. She gasped as he lowered his mouth to her nipple and sucked strongly at it through her shirt. He delivered the same treatment to her other breast, then kissed his way up her neck and back to her lips. He thrust his tongue inside her mouth again and pushed her gently against the wall. She groaned again and threaded her fingers through his long, black hair, pulling him closer to her. Hiromi began to grind her hips into Byakuya’s, and a blaze of heat spiked down from her belly to between her legs.
“Ah—Bya-kun,” she moaned.
That seemed to pull him out of his stupor, and he pulled back from her. He put several steps between them, breathing heavily.
“Hiromi…I. We—I mean,” Byakuya spluttered over his words, the arousal in his hakama was obvious.
She smiled uncertainly at him, “That was a long time coming.”
He looked at her in surprise, “You think so?”
“Well I think I’ve been into you since…forever,” She blushed fiercely.
He took in her beautiful features: long wavy/curly black hair, round perfect breasts, hips flared, long, shapely legs, the pretty blush on her cheeks, “Yeah, I guess it was…”
**********************************************************************
Even though they had an intense connection, Byakuya and Hiromi avoided each other for all of the holiday break and for much of the next semester. In March Byakuya’s grandfather Ginsei passed away.
In Byakuya’s dorm room, “Hey Bya-kun…how are you feeling?”
“Feelings and emotions only show weakness. You must purge yourself of such whimsical things.”
Hiromi could tell that he was upset over the death of his grandfather, but his words still shocked her, “You can’t mean that Byakuya. I mean—.”
“Go away Hiromi.”
“No. I won’t.”
He glared at her, but she stood her ground, “I don’t care what you say Bya-kun, I care about you, and I won’t leave you like this.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
She looked at him with sympathy and concern in her eyes, “I think you do,” she reached up to touch his cheek with tentative fingers. His hand covered hers, “Hiromi please…don’t,” his fingers grasped hers.
She gave him a watery smile, “He meant a lot to me too,” she kissed him softly at first, then pressed a little more firmly, moving her lips with his. She sighed into his mouth, tears trickling between their lips. He pulled back and wiped the moisture from her face.
“I know he did,” Byakuya studied her face closely and kissed her again. Both of their emotions were high, and they were becoming easily aroused.
“Ah—Byakuya!” she gasped heatedly, rolling her hips into his. She could definitely feel his erection and was instantly aroused by the fact that she could make him hard that easily. She kissed his jaw, nuzzled her face into his neck, and then kissed his lips again.
At the end of the year Byakuya graduated from the Soul Reaper Academy and assumed the captaincy of the 6th division right away. The 6th division had always been captained by a Kuchiki. As Byakuya sat at his desk in the 6th division he thought about Hiromi, and how she was doing at the academy without him there.
During Hiromi’s senior year at the Soul Reaper Academy, as exams loomed ahead of her, she had a momentary breakdown. I want to go home now! I can’t stand being here a moment longer. I miss Byakuya, and I just…just. She started to cry.
The next night as Byakuya was having tea at his desk in the study there was a knock at the door.
“Byakuya,” Hiromi said as she stepped into the room.
“Hiromi, what are you doing here!” Byakuya looked furious.
“Wait, don’t get mad Bya-kun! I’ve been having some trouble focusing at school, so I thought some time at home would be beneficial.”
“Wha- I don’t know what you mean. You always say that you are doing well. What exactly is going on Hiromi?”
She looked sheepish, “I’m lonely Byakuya; I miss you.”
His eyes were trained on the floor by her shoes as he thought about that, “You have to go back to the dorms. I cannot allow you to stay here; you have to attend classes.”
“Well…why can’t complete my studies from here and take the exams at the end of the year, then graduate?”
“What about your zanpakuto training? You won’t be able to teach yourself those techniques.”
“I was kind of hoping you would help me…”
“Hiromi I am a captain of the thirteen court guard squads. I don’t have time to baby you into passing your exams!”
Hiromi looked irate, “I can’t believe you just said that to me!”
“Then stop acting like a child and get back to school. You don’t have that much more to finish anyway. It can’t be that bad. After all I did it.”
She considered for a moment, “How about if you come up one day a week for a little while to see me. I think that would help.”
Byakuya sighed deeply, “Are you really having that much difficulty?”
She looked at him for a moment, considering what he was asking her, “I just want you,” she stated flatly. He gaped at her, “Oh come on Byakuya, you’ve known this for some time, you just keep pretending like we don’t care for each other, and don’t have feelings for each other, but I am over it! I want you and I will not apologize for it.”
“Go back to class Hiromi,” Byakuya stated without emotion.
She blinked back tears of frustration and disappointment, “Fine Kuchiki Byakuya, I’ll do as you say, but remember what I told you,” her heart was in her throat as she left his study.
The next morning at breakfast Byakuya was conspicuous by his absence. Hiromi was preparing to leave, but then had a wild hair. She strolled up to his study, bolstered with new confidence, and entered. She found Byakuya at his desk shuffling papers, “What do you want Hiromi. Can’t you see I’m busy?”
She smiled at him mischievously, crossed the room, and pushed his chair back from his desk. She put one knee on either side of his hips, straddling his lap, and began kissing him before he knew what she was doing. They kissed passionately for a minute then Hiromi pulled back, “Goodbye Kuchiki-sama.” And with a sly smile she left Byakuya speechless and less than able to concentrate on his paperwork.
Will get to more maybe after exams! I hope everyone likes; this is my first foray into fanfics!
